That game is to Tourist Trophy what F1 2011 is to GT, so it's not the same thing. I don't think people take kindly to being told what to do, especially when the instruction is so ill-considered as that. Don't you think people who are interested in bikes and games will look for biking games?
There is nothing comparable to GT's scope for the motorcycle world; most bikers aren't lucky enough to own bespoke race machines, they have to "make do" with production motorcycles, and not many games offer these in a realistic setting. Think about what makes a game like GT so appealing. A Ducati 1198R Corse is an expensive motorcycle, ridiculously so; few motorcyclists will get to own one, or even be lucky enough to ride one. Then there are the older, rarer bikes, too, like the NR750 or a CBX 1000 or a Matchless etc. or even the more utilitarian bikes like a Skywave or the big brute cruisers like a VMax, and even off-road / Motard bikes; the list goes on.
It's just like GT: TT is supposed to offer something to a wide cross-section of the motorcycling "community", something Superbike 2011 will never do.
@ nitrorocks: yes, Tourist Trophy was a game made shortly after GT4's release. I don't think it was particularly heavily marketed. I only happened upon it by chance!
I totally agree:tup: Ever since GT1 arrived, I always hoped for a motorcycle game similar to GT. What was so ground breaking about GT was the huge selection of cars and tracks. The ability to test the acceleration and top speed as well as to tune and make the cars your own. The variety was incredible and you could race your mom's Nova against a full blown Le Man's Prototype. The ability to mix and match, and to create almost any motoring scenario conceivable was all possible in GT.
To my surprise and delight we got TT in 2006, very much GT4 but missing a few things. TT was not perfect, and the physics were questionable in many aspects, but at the time it was certainly the best effort by anyone to create a motorcycle game with close to the scope and choice of GT.
We actually had Riding Spirits 1 and 2, which was essentially GT for bikes, as well as Superbikes riding challenge, both decent games but could not match TT.
TT was a toe in the water for PD, kind of an exercise. I am sure we will get another effort from them.
The motorcycle sim genre has really been neglected and at the moment, I can only really see PD giving it justice.
