Neither of those accidents were directly caused by sausage kerbs.

That second one was, he got in to the chicane a little to hot, rode the brake and still jumped the car, then to nailed it to avoid being buried in the gravel and lost control coming out of the trap, though most of the issue was most likely driver inexperience had the sausage kerb not jumped his car he still may have kept some sort of control of the car,

Right, to be politically correct, speed bumps, sausage kerbs nor supermarket speed bumps have a place on a race track,

Excessive run off is caused. Tracks like COTA should have gravel or grass rather than tarmac.

They're not on the race track.

The accident was caused by a guy going in to a corner too hot, careering off the race track, rejoining in an unsafe manner, careering off the other side, and rejoining in an unsafe manner again, whilst being out of control all of the time.

Tracks like COTA shouldn't exist, in its short history no one reminisces about a good race that has happened there, the only topic that circuit brings is the laughable manner in which IMSA was so relaxed on track limits,

I fail to see how he had any choice other then return to the track in an unsafe manner when he had no control of the car and barely any contact with the ground upon returning,

By not putting his car there in the first place. He made a mistake and compounded it twice, and took out other cars. That accident was not caused by the track, kerbs, speed bumps or gravel. It was caused by the driver.

All of these race tracks that have speed bumps at the side of the chicanes have an 'escape route'. If the driver can't make the corner, he should go down that route.

He hits the brakes for the corner and lifts as usual, goes wide and then you can see he's gaining speed again before even getting to the bumps, trying to maximise his corner exit like he's on the normal line. He should have stayed off the throttle and on the brakes until he was back in control, then he wouldn't have flown across the track.

Even if he didn't once he was across in the gravel he didn't need to gun it that hard, the gravel isn't too deep there and GT cars don't have too much trouble getting out of them. He overdid it.

I totally forgot about that one! Was it just run in practice or was it the race too?

Let's wait and see if anyone doesn't realise haha

If I remember right, it was done because Brad or Andrew jones had rolled that car twice in the opening rounds, once at Barbagallo and again at Pukukoe??? New Zealand round, so they flipped the sponsors as a joke, Brad also campaigned an OZEmail AU falcon with 'this way up' stickers after rolling it at the Clipsal 500,

European Drag Finals, Santa Pod, 2014:

I've just been there today for the same thing, I am burnt to a crisp, my ears are ringing and I stink of nitromethane and burning rubber, which means it was a great day!

Anyone know if there's a drag racing thread on the forums? Don't really see anybody talking about it. It may not be the best thing to watch on TV, but you really gain some appreciation after you have seen them in person, it is a whooole different experience.

I suppose there was something worthy of posting in this thread while I was there, but I didn't film it :(. There was a modified GT-R racing against this little "Flux capacitor". It didn't win unfortunately, but the GTR was a 7 second car.

There's an NHRA thread floating around somewhere but it's been dead for some time.

I love going to the Brainerd NHRA race, it's a completely different experience compared to every other racing event I've been to.

Which probably means there's zero discussion when it comes to any drag racing outside of the US. I wish it were more popular/mainstream in Europe.

The sound, shockwaves and smells are absolutely addicting, as well as seeing man and machine pushed to the extreme.

The only other person I know that has goes to Podington for the drag racing is @Sureboss, but I don't know if he was there over the weekend.

(That was in the race against the Flux Capacitor, but I didn't get a decent photo of both.)

Being there over the weekend is where I heard about the bike crash.

It certainly seemed popular enough yesterday!

I've seen the Jet Car before at events like Mini in the Park, but Friday night was my first experience of a Top Fuel run. That's something everyone, motorsport fan or not, needs to add to their bucket list.

Not there last weekend, but went to the main event earlier in the year. Might go to the nationals in a couple of weeks.

Indeed, they're pretty insane. There's a few onboard TF passes around, this one being the best. Check your sound level...

I do recall "this way up" on his AU. The BA with the upside down sponsors completely slipped my mind though.

Awesome.

I always seem to be close to a BJR roll over at Adelaide, we were in the stands at turn 8 when the AU went over and about 10 people back when Jason Bright caught the fence at turn 3.
