Watch Brundle closely as Verstappen's wheel flies by.

That could have given him major brain damage.

One my all-time favorite stupid crashes. I think that's also the first time a driver (Irvine) received a multi-race ban for his actions.

I watched that one with my girlfriend at the time, showing her what a professional bunch of drivers can do on a track...

<Hitting the end of pit wall>

In the driver' head, that would have been something like:

Oh crap, Oh crap, Oh crap, Oh crap,

Ah. Saved it! not even gunna hit a wall!

<car spins again, pointing at the pit wall>

Oh 🤬, this is gunna hurt.

These could have been much worse but everyone was OK. You watch enough racing you say the craziest things happen live

^ Ouch... What happened to the pit guy afterwards?

He had bruises and scratches but was OK, and joked about costing Michael Andretti the race who was leading at the time

The race happened not too long after helmets became mandatory following a serious pit crash in NASCAR.

*spends an hour searching for it on youtube*

Well it looks my timing was off a bit. I looked up the NASCAR video and from a youtube comment it turns out CART had mandated helmets AFTER the Michael Andretti pit incident. Back in 1999 some pit crews wore helmets some did not. Andrettis crew did and it probably saved the guys life.

If you want to see the NASCAR pit crash that resulted into helmets being made mandatory for crew members in the series, search for 2001 Pennzoil Freedom 400 [9/18].

Im not posting a link because the crewman was hurt pretty bad. I dont think he died, but it was much worse then a few bruises.

On a lighter side, Jeff Burton exploits a loop hole in the All Star race rules to gain a massive advantage

Gosh, he hit 3 guys. That looked painful.

The very next year they changed the rules on the pitstops because of that.

Edit: I should say the rules in the All-Star race because of that.

Have any of you seen the new Tide commercial that aired during today's race? I laughed so hard

It was about montoya's jet dryer stunt

He must have been watching the British GP in 1998 :) Michael Schumacher was given a 10 second stop/go penalty in the closing stages of the race, so he pitted on the last lap, crossed the line to win the race, and then served his penalty (in that order).

That's funny  did they dock him the win?

No, he was awarded the win. Wrongly, in my opinion.

Some lightheartednedd 1991-1993. Gotta love Brundle giving Schumacher a piggy back...

Funny, but language
