@Dotini you were taking the words too literally, and the Spa 24hr is a classic Touring car race counting towards the ETCC for many years

But he didn't win at Bathurst/Mount Panorama in a Jag, he won it in 1990 in a Holden

ANYWAY its @Kingofweasles turn

@Kingofweasles got it right. Simple. His turn to ask a question on motorsports trivia.

OK then...

When was the last year a CART/IRL/Indycar champion fail to score a Pole Position during their championship season?

Just popping in to say I never imagined my thread would still be active after almost 10 years! My knowledge only lasted a few pages but it's great to see so many of you guys have kept the trivia going! 👍

Bingo! You're up.
The Rally of Portugal had his first edition in 1967 (Rali Internacional TAP) and integrated the European Championship 3 years later, 1970.
During these 3 years, the winner (on the road) of one of the editions was declassified.
Who was the driver concerned and the reason for his declassification?

1st. clue (21/Sep.): The driver was British and a famous factory rally driver.

2nd. clue (22/Sep.): After the end of his driving career, he was the manager of a factory rally team.

3rd. clue (23/Sep.): Under his team management, one driver conquered his 2nd (and last) world title.

4th. clue (24/Sep.): He drove a (spacious) Lancia Fulvia 1.6 in that Rally of Portugal where the declassification occurred.

5th. clue (25/Sep.): At the time he had a girlfriend.*

*Last clue, tomorrow I will post the answer.

Again, not sure what you're asking - can you clarify your request for clarification? The proper name for the track at Bathurst is Mount Panorama, but I suspect you already know that.

So a driver wins at Mt. Panorama and he "conquers the mountain".

Does he also "conquer the mountain" if he wins at Pikes Peak or at Mt Fuji circuit?

Yes. Have you never heard of a driver being described as having 'conquered' a track if he's won on it?

Yes. My shortlist from TheBigMan045's clue was Bathurst, Pikes Peak and Ukyo Katayama, who has done a lot of mountain climbing since his motor racing days, but the rest of the clues didn't fit him.

or at Mt Fuji circuit?

Open to interpretation. Fuji doesn't actually run up the mountain so I personally wouldn't say so, but others might.

Whilst I like the idea of these cryptic clues, if this 'Clarify ALL the things!' is going to happen after each answer it's probably not worth the hassle.

The answer to MonSpaNur question:

1969 TAP RALLYE DE PORTUGAL

Disqualified Driver - TONY FALL (Works Lancia Team)

Official reason - SHOWED UP AT THE LAST CHECK POINT WITH HIS GIRLFRIEND IN THE CAR

Rumored true reason - UNAUTHORIZED REPAIR THE NIGHT BEFORE, WARNED ABOUT PROBABLE PROTEST AND DISQUALIFICATION, GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT MADE TO FIND A HONORABLE WAY OUT.

Yes, that's the right answer.

excluded for giving lift to wife (this is wrong, she was his girlfriend) to finish ramp

Your turn...

Ok, this one should be easy, but I'll try to make it a bit harder through a choice of names.

There's a common behavioral trait regarding Enzo Ferrari and Andrew Evans. What might that be?

:D

They both use some form of purple in their writing.

(Wow, never realized getting your own personalized stationery was an official Ferrari Grand Prix driver perk.)

Why would Enzo Ferrari choose purple though? I'd have thought he'd be all about the red.

His color choice for his personal cars was a dark blue. Just because Italy's national color is red, doesn't mean the man had to do everything in red. :P

Pupik's next, Famine and Ferrari both have (or had, in Enzo's case) a preference with writing in a unusual color (and quite a similar choice it was).

Dotini, that was a good find but indeed it was a behavioral trait I was looking for, not a lifetime ambition :)

Gonna take a wild guess here. He's the only person who has taken every victory he has in his own cars?

Brabham was the first driver for whom all career F1 wins were taken in a rear engined car.

His early career wins were in a Cooper-Climax; later he used cars of his own (and Ron Tauranac's) construction.

He was not the first driver to win a race in a rear engine F1 car. That distinction belongs to Stirling Moss.

The rear engine F1 car was not more powerful than the front engine Ferraris, Vanwalls and BRM's of the day. But it was lighter, lower, easier to drive and easier on tire wear.

Back in the 1930's, some drivers won all their career Grand Prix races in the fearsome rear engine Auto Union, but these were not "F1" cars.

In a conversation with Jack and his wife a few years ago, he told me his career would not have been possible without the Boeing jet liners just then being introduced into international aviation.

That's not exactly what I was after, but that's very interesting none the less. It's more to do with when he won his Grands Prix.

You met Jack Brabham? That's cool.

If you have dreamed up anything more unique or historically significant than my answer, then I will be very surprised. Many of these questions lately have had alternate answers which renders the original question rather moot, even defective. Unless you begin to think and write more clearly, then I shall be obliged to discontinue my interest in this thread.

Yes, at the Tacoma GP for historic racers. Jack raced one of his F5000 cars, and won going away.

I spend a lot of time looking up statistics for trivia questions, both here and in the association football trivia thread, and I'm fairly certain this one is unique.

Think about the time period Jack Brabham raced in and when he won his races.

Being the first to do something is not a unique happening.
