Muscle Cars?

some people have obsession that they have to belittle muscle cars:confused:

yeah, just ignore them, I still think Muscle Cars are awesome even though I'm a huge fan of Import cars and sport compact car tuning. I'd give anything for a GTO, a 'Cuda, or a 69 Camaro SS or something.

Hi I recently for some reason started really like muscle cars and stuff, and I'm getting near the time when I can drive, which is why I'm here so I can have a place to hear people talk about cars all the time, also I am a big GT fan. Anyways I think it's pretty cool that you can get a powerful car for around $20000 or so(actually I found that the price varies a lot). I'm thinking about getting either some type of classic mustang, camaro, barracuda, charger, GTO, the list goes on, or would it not be a very good a idea to be driving a muscle car as a first car? If not I'm thinking about getting a motorbike(those I can get brand new for not a lot of money). Anyways muscle cars are damn cool they look and sound wicked.

Well, for a first car you might want to drive a banger just in case (you know, so you can get used to driving, and if you gets some dents or sratches it wont matter). But, you can also get a car to fix up (any of those you chose) while you drive that banger. So while everyone laughs at you for driving a POS, you can show up one day when your done fixing up your other car and suffocate them to death with all the tire smoke you make ;)...

Welcome to GTPlanet BTW :)...

I want a 69 Dodge Charger R/T as my first car, hopefully it will eventually look like my avatar. But actually a muscle car would be a great first car. In fact I know of about 3 mustangs at my high school, I think they are 67's. One is black, one is blue w/white stripes, the last one is red w/white stripes. But yeah I would love to have a mucle car as my first car too.

heh. your avatar rules. well, as for the muscle car being the first car, I think its a bad idea. they are not reliable at all, their componentry is dated, and the price for one of those you mentioned will make you think it twice. If you want muscle car-like stuff on your first car, go and get a late70s-80s "muscle car" like a Ford Fairmont or a Chevy Malibu. they are readiy available, cost a dam and can be done to go go FAST for half the price of what you paid for that 67 mustangs motor repair. and you wont be omfg no if you crash with one of them. they are practical, and they are sleepy. muscle cars are cool, but are too much hassle. for a first driver, try something different instead.

mopar...ugh... im a chevy and pontiac fan myself. i dont think the hemi could hold up to a nice 350 or pontiac 400. the pontiac 400 is the best motor in my opinion.

  an H.O. 454/455 GM powered cars would have a hard time hang'n with a 426 hemi. GM probably could of made better faster cars but in the late 60's the government said they where too big (they had like 55% of all auto sales in the US) so GM pulled out of racing to try and lower sales.

YES THIS IS WHAT CALIKARTER WAS SAYING,
yea the viper is nothing now that the saleen and other high-HP cars are out...

The Viper is just a low cost sports car that also has above average performance. It only costs around 70-90 thousand for one, unless it's been modified(like a racing type viper), I usually don't see them in the 100 thousands. So it's just a sports car that people can buy without having to spend 600 thousand for.

the 400?? please. its SO tame. even more so than the 455 JUDGE engine and EVEN that one couldnt catch up with a hemi, and Im not talking about the 426. Im talking here older 392 and even 354s. the 355 pontiac? oh god. not a single small block neither from ford nor GM could stand up against ANY hemi, even if they are 15 years newer. GM in particular had NO chance of beating a HEMI. big or small-blockwise. there was simply no level playing field. Mother Mopar was WAY ahead of EVERYTHING that ford and GM were cranking out at the time.

the 455h/o was a very fast engine as is the 400h/o, it would have trouble to hold up to a 426hemi, but i think a LS6 would

well i am big into the older 60's muscle... and not even the saleen or whatever is a muscle car.. a muscle car was a big engine in an awsome looking body... with a very low price... example... 67-68 roadrunner they didn't even come with carpet unless you paid more... and a standard tranny was... well.. standard you had to pay a few pennies for the auto... i am acctually deep down a bit of a mopar fan too.. but still swingin more to GM cuz i love the 57 chevy:D ... but yeah no offenceunless they drop pricing of cars and get rid of ac,pw etc they'll never be real muslce cars in my mind.. or in most people that love muscle cars.:mischievous:

look. i found my dream car on ebaymotors:eek: its a '70 olds cutluss and it gives me a hard-on. i blured out the house and crap. its got a 455, 400 tranny, and looks:eek: omg oh so good.

i love that car cuz it doesn't have a scoup just clean lines and i love these 69-73(?) cutluss's, 442's, GTO, Le Mans, Chevelle, Skylarks, well ya know what style im talk'n about;) they just look so good and the clean smooth lines on that Cutluss just look sooo good to me.

i know what you mean.. and i agree... but i do like the duel scoups that the 442 has.. just cuz i like the more agressive cars...
