and please define 'muscle car'

i guess that's it.
:D

it has stock gears, trans, clutch that will all need replacing. i also plan to add an intercooler and maybe a shot of nitrous.

i have only taken it to the local track 3x and my best time is a traction-limited 11.8 @ 116 mph shifting into 4th gear just before the traps... :(

with some 4.10 or 4.30 gears i should be able to bring the mph up a bit and the time down a touch.

I got the car on 9/17/01 and blew up the stock motor while in a freeway contest with a WS6 and a z28. my car had the stock ignition and the supercharger installed. when i flat-shifted to 4th, it started missing in one cylinder

i won the contest, but fatally wounded my motor in the process. damn hypereutectic pistons! and what's the deal with those powdered metal connecting rods!!!!!!

i ordered a 575 HP (RWHP!) shortblock from the best in the business, http://www.seanhylandmotorsport.com . the first motor arrived in a broken crate, so they shipped one as quickly as they could build it and get it out. all forged internals, arp studs (including head studs!) everywhere. I got a pair of worked heads from West Coast Racing cylinder heads ( http://www.proheads.com ) that had been sitting around for way too long. they were from a customer that never picked them up or something of that nature. not sure. a set of cams to top it off and it was ready to go to the builder.

i feel pretty safe running 450 hp on a motor spec'd for 575 rwhp but really want a tad more out of it considering the 03 cobra motor runs the same internals that i run and have put down numbers in excess of 750 rwhp! I know my stock t45 won't handle that kind of power.

my LX is faster.
:D

i love my car.
:D

i was down in l.a. visiting a friend before i got the drag radials on there. we pulled up alongside some 70s muscle, sounded like a beefed out 350, i think it was a chevelle...we went 3 x from stoplights. the first two times wwe were side-by-side. unknown to him, my tires were spinning the whole time! I FINALLY got a good launch, the tires stuck and i WALKED him.
:D

he was amazed.

with the Nittos on there, i don't have that trouble anymore.

the nittos are gread for straight-line driving and aren't Z-Rated which disturbs me with some of the velocities I have attained...

i haven't run the bfg tires.
I think it really depends on your driving style and needs. I end up in drag races all the time, so i need something that is sticky as heck. it rains a lot here too, so wet-weather traction is important to me also. the Nittos are surprisingly good in the rain for a tire with only 3/16" of tread!

my car had pirelli p7000 in the same size and the pirellis used to rub like crazy. the nittos don't rub a bit and took nearly a full second off my 1/4 mile times.

the bfg drag radials are supposedly a bit better on the strip, but not as good in the rain.

I have actually heard different about the BFG's in the rain, I heard they were quite good in over an inch of water. The editor started to hydroplane and just let of the gas a little and they bit right in. I know both are good tires, just dont know what to put on. Right now I have Michelin Pilots...

I like you car and i don't mean to be rude but i like the 68 fastback look more... but thats me.. although i'd rather have a GTO judge or 71 tran-am with a 455 rocket but thats beside the point. :P

i don't like the sn-95 platform as much as i like the foxbodies
:shrugs:

the classics are great if you don't actually have to sit in them for any length of time. if you are out driving alot, the more comfortable seating of the late-model cars, climate control, and suspension that makes leaf-spring technology seem a bit silly. couple that with abs, traction control and dual airbags and rockin' stereo system and it there really any comparison???
:D:D

no offense taken at all!
68 fastbacks are sweet looking!

lol i never had any problems with sittin in my dad 77 trans-am for 12 hours at a time lol.. or my moms 57 chev or my bros 76 monte.. air conditioning lol roll down the window bud.. some people don't have a **** load of cash to throw around and i like restoring old greats like my moms 57. We dropped a 454 into it.. its pretty unstopable.

Just stickin up for my lifestyle man...
and what do you mean video and pic section?

Whoops ic.. pics... but wheres the video again?.. sorry for bein all *****y and stuff.... just under alot of stress with my own car.. 1984 monte carlo.. has a v6 in it that i will admit i ran too hard but its a v6 i mean come on lol.. but yeah i basically don't have a car anymore till i can get the money to get her runnin again, lookin for a 350-400 small block.. 400sb would be sweet in my car..

Well, I guess its not so bad. I can take the base model and GT mustangs, but that is where it stops for them (Im not stupid enough to even rev when next to an SVT let alone a Saleen). I dont really streetrace, but when someone ticks me off or is just trying to intimidate me I'll take them (If I am realitively sure Im faster)...

i had this kid in some econobox he seemed to think was fast, he would come flying up behind me then dart left and right...i finally had enough, dropped to third gear (we were doing 70) ran to redline, then hit 4th and ran it to the shift light...

i never saw that guy again.

not sure why they bother unless it's just to see how fast a REAL car is.

:D

my last roadtrip i devastated a Roush Mustang, a couple of GTs, a mega-riced-out civic (erector set wing, girl by his side), a BMW 760il, SUbaru WRX with "all the bolt-ons", and a few i can't recall...

I really love the in-car video above. that was one of my closest races ever, and was against a chevy to boot!

If only Dodge Would bring a RWD performer out, I settled for the SRT4 :). I can take WRX RS's as well. I try to respect the faster cars around me, like Camaro's and the like...

yeah.. rivalry.. lol i'm kinda all around for cars.. mainly chevs and most mustangs.. my dad and i built a old 60's dodge dart out of stuff around the shop that we had extra.. lol somehow we bolted a 400 big block into it.. happily he let my drive it.. lol acctually it was my car for the summer one year till it sold.. lol.. yeah never lost a race.. i had gotten a custom coil over kit for it to lower and stiffen the suspension alot.. lol.. cuz at stock hieght going the speeds that thing went on the highways:lol: one word death trap... but once that kit was on not only did it look more racey it handled extremely well... accelerated in noticably more. yeah that was a great car. So what else have you owned?

You mean like the viper? just kidding. I'm assuming you're talking south of 80 grand?

Aren't they coming out with the Magnum/Charger (name is undecided as of yet)? Supposed to be a rwd sedan/wagon, with a big block(?) under the hood. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'll post pics later, if I can pry myself away from my PS2.

here's a Q. does anyone know what 442 means on the old cutlas's? i heard it meant it was a 400 motor with 2 four barrels. i also heard it was a 400 motor with a four barrel and dual exhaust. does anyone know?

400 motor 4 barrel carb, dual exhaust...
showing my age now.

only other cool car i have owned was a 67 firebird with a mild cam, heddman headers, holly 850 DP carb...

The 442 also came with a 455 rocket too.. my friend has a 76 cutlass... that year never had the 442 option from what we know.. but i'm making a custom set of the scoops that would be on the older ones for his car.. hes also going for the 455 rocket.. but am i not right about the 455r i could have sworn thats what it had:odd:

Speaking of which.. this is his 76 Cutlass it has a 403 in her.. and its not too bad but there is no interior and its really ruff looking... it looks fine here but photographie is my hobby:lol: anyways yeah.. my brother has a 76 monte carlo.. that i was supposed to get but i couldn't get the money in time so he cept it:banghead:  :mischievous:
