That is so untrue. Where are you getting this information? If your car can handle the corners thats great, but if it is bog slow in acceleration its no good. All I hear from people is, "What doest it run?", or "What's your quarter?". If people are more into handling these days why are engine performance companies making so much money?

yeah I was thinking about it. It seems odd though, having two cars at my age. I was also looking at an 87 Buick Grand National. The paper said "Best Offer", so I dont know what to ask for it...

man all those cars suck. My dad had a 1971 Dodge Charger R/T with a triple header and lots of goodies under the hood that put out 700+HP. That thing would eat any car out there. Did a 1/4 mile in 9.41 seconds.
0-60 in 3.5, 0-120 in 6.4, and 0-180 in 9.3. sold it in '94 for $45,000.:banghead:  :banghead:  :irked:

i did mess up on one part though. i ment to say that a 400 would have hard time hang'n H.O. 455/454's, 426 hemi's and magnum 440's.

ok ill accept that becasue i have no other proof but my opinion. but i still think the pontiac 400 is one of the best motors to work with. my dad bought a 70 lemans for my brother and he dropped a 400 in it. my brother didnt like so he never drove it. but my mom did. man that thing had some power. it had a turbo 400 transmission. no one could touch it. the only upgrade was headers. but i told my dad i wanted it when i turned 16 but a year b4 i did my brother came back wanting it. so he took it. im still mad. but oh well.

Do you have any pictures or is this a bunch of bull (considering that you used bunches of smilies at the end). I've heard people talk like this before that turned out to be pushing alot of crap...

hey you guys don't have to belive me at all. as i said in my first post about the muscle car is dying and stuff its just my opition. only time will tell if im right or wrong. have you seen that chevelle? i bet you its nowhere neer as nice as DGB454's is. the ad just said it drove nice. it didn't say if the restoration was complete or not, or how good it is. if you got $4.500 to spend on a car go for. i had $1,000 to spend on my car and i got my kia for $900, but if mommy or daddy is going to get you the car you want good for you.

Yes I did. Its in pretty good condition too. I dont see how you can think that the Muscle Car is dying, doesnt seem that way to me. Maybe where YOU live it is, but not here, nor in other places that I have lived/visited.

BTW, IM buying the car  (maybe not the Chevelle) plus I already own a car (just want a resto-car)...

always loved your monster DGB, it is impressive. now, to all those who diss computers, they are the missing element of a muscle car to be DEPENDABLE. yes, they can push 400+horses, but they eat gas @2mpg. hell, I wouldnt drive that.... maybe not even weekends, its just too much. on a cold morning, you start your 500+ ci carbed thing... and if you dont have an electric choke, it wont! oh, how cool! come on, people, yeah, you know I love these things, but there are some elements that should be modded not to have more and more power. driveability is an issue, a BIG one. I want to DRIVE my muscle car, but I dont want to spent all my funds on gas!! EFI helps to take over that, and also gives the engine a better fuel flow and air disposition. I dont see ANYTHNG wrong with computers, chips, EFI and stuff like that on cars. why do you think that the 5.0 liter mustangs became SO popular? they were tunneable, EVEN more so than the carbed cars. they are, still. and theyll get you 18 mpg while smoking the tires with the 500hp worth of goodies you have in your engine. oh, andtheyll run all day, all week... yeah, you get the picture.

bull ****! you might be buying the car but its your moms money. besides i bet your not even 16 yet. you don't even know what your gett'n with a "rest-o"car. do you have a place indoor where it can just sit well you try and get parts for it? do have all the tools you need to work on it? do you even know anything about cars? you really think you'd be able to restore a car?do you even have the time to work on it since summer is over? i think you need to think about this alot more before you go spend your parents money on somethin that just seemed like deal at the time.
right now you seem very cocky, and pretty young. maybe 14-15 y/o. but once you get out of your world and into the real one you'll see way i think the muscle is on its last leg right now and the fact that there not making any new muscle cars. they stoped doing that in 1974. but you'll see cuz the prices have nowhere to go but up and the muscle cars are going to keep getting rarer and rarer till soon they'll just be collector cars.

Thanks for the compliment on the Chevelle. Please don't get me wrong about the newer cars. I love them also. Great at handeling and pumping out a respectable amount of hp not to mention the fuel effiency aspect.

As far as being able to tune them though is a different story. Unless you are talking about after market bolt ons the newer cars are nearly impossible to do anything to unless you are a master mechanic. Mine on the other hand is a breeze to do just about anything I want under the hood. In just a few hours I can change a cam and be back on the road. I can pull the carb and do a rebuild and have it back on the road in a matter of an afternoon.
Dependability wise I have never been stranded and it was a daily driver for years before I had the funds to store it and buy a second car. When the engine was stock I was putting out around 435 hp. and getting around 17 mpg. as long as I didn't kick in the 4 barrel too much. With the mods done to it now Im getting around 12 to 13 mpg. Not that good but that's not what I'm interested in for it.

Starting it in the winter is never a problem. I just close the choke, pump the gas a few times and it fires up right away. I start it weekly during the winter and let in run for about an hour to get the oil moving through the engine and to keep the seals moist.
Some people say I shouldn't do that but is seems to work well. Besides...I need to set in it at least once a week and hear it run.(I get withdrawls if I don't)

Anyway, I am a fan of both old and new. I just have a passion for the old. Maybe because I'm getting old too...;)

The picture doesn't come out as the same color as the car really is. It's actually a black cherry with gold T/A lettering. Not my first choice but it's what she chose when we got it painted.
I can see now where the pimp look comes from.
I was wondering why everytime we drive through town and stop at the lights guys would come up and ask how much? I thought they meant the car and I would say we aren't selling.

seriously, the red is DARKER than that? that's sweet.

now, don't get me wrong, that car kicks ass. but LOL at how much?

that's my favourite colour.

Now dont get me wrong here ,i love all cars .but i seen some stuff int his thread thats funny 700 hp from a 71 i doubt that with out a blower .i been around these cars for awhile .i have a 63 chevy 2 with a 327 bored and balanced ported and polished heads 205.5 valves 13to1 domed pistons which are forged . i grew up in a garage my whole family owns some kinda muscle car.im not trying to get ppl mad just some silly stuff here.As for my oppinion you see my name .There is no sound like a hemi with both carbs open screamin down the track;) .if you read the newer mags on the pro touring move in the older cars some of them turn some respectable times at the road courses.so you can make a camaro or mustang hell there is even a caddy a 82 fleetwood at road america running 2:30 lap times it says not the cobras or M3s could get past him running in excess of 140 MPH now if you can get a fleetwood to handle you can make anything handle:lol: .well sorry if i got any one mad or confused just my thoughts .:mischievous: :odd:

Its with my money you ass. As a matter a fact we do have all the tools, equipment, and the facility to do it. And yes, I know alot about cars, especially ones I like. I dont need an overgrown ass like you to tell me what is good and what isnt. Yeah, Im almost 16, but I bet I have had more experience with cars than you ever had. I have been around cars all my life, and for a while I was in carting. I know how to build an engine, and how to work on alot of them. Why dont you shut your hole and eat your fruit loops sweek-cake, your just as cocky as I am ...

[EDIT] OK, lets slow down a little. We are starting to get a little out of hand. Lets just put this down before we get each other banned. We shouldnt end up being enemies over something we both like :). Its just when I get pushed, I push back and end up being cocky when backed into a corner like that. No hard feelings ok? ;)...

in my opinion 70 was the last of the real muscle cars you had the boss mustangs 429 and 302 ,the LS6 chevelle ,hemi cars and the six pack cars, the GS Buicks, the GTO Judge, after 70 the insurance companies killed the real muscle it was all down hill from there.and the gas crises in the early 70's didnt help out any.

Its called Prize Money :).

BTW, who are you calling kid? Your only a few months ahead of me lol. I know alot about cars for my age as well. They put me in a car technical class at TCC (it was a weekend class). Everyone was at least 4 years older than me (I dont like that :( ). When I was carting we had to build our own engines. I helped my dad rebuild the engine on the charger (and got yelled at, since I was usually right on where things went  ). You dont know much about me either so dont say I dont know as much as you, because I might. We may never know. BTW, I never said you didnt know anything about cars :).

OK how about we leave it at this: Wanna b drifter and Frustrated Palm (Tree, wouldnt fit in the GTP name box) both know more about cars than most people at their age.
