I went through the musical playlist, which was lacking and small in my opinion, and took out all the rap and hip hop ****, so my playlist is nothing but rock and roll or classical music. Out of 65 songs, I think I have 25-30 on my playlist.

FU MANCHU!

Here is the lyric of one of their songs:

Superbird

Took my Superbird
Down to the track
Saw a Camaro duel hemi-stacks
Flag went down
Hear the rubber burn
Lucky shift
Got me in the turn
Must have been ridin
With lady luck
Flipping his wig
His gears are stuck
The Camaro..
so far behind
I'm out of gear
Coasting to the line!

They are into muscle cars, and it's reflected by their songs... Just a little bit. :)

When I have to concentrate on the race that i'm in, I usually listen to the sweet music of my car engines, but when i'm just hot-lapping, here are the music I listen to:

Saliva - Survival of the Sickest
Metallica - Fuel
Pantera - Primal concrete Sledge
The Killers - Somebody Told Me
Judas Priest - Revolution
Static-X - Push It
Static-X - Destroy All
Megadeth - Back in the day
Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Carol of the Bells
The Transplants - Diamonds and Gunns
Hatebreed - Perseverance

IMO, Music makes the races more Dramatic, But when you really have to pass the guy in front of you for the championship, you have to turn off the music and concentrate.

I usually head bang to some Rafie, or when i'm feelin dangerous, and my alterego "F1 driving Jay, the intergalactic, time travellin sex machine" comes out to play, i like to throw on some Boy George and get that "Karma Cameleon" goin inside me...i can't think of the name of the group he was in though...something club...

From the GT4 US Website, I've been listening to some of the music in the videos. I've kept talking about the themes for the Tune Shop and then the theme for the Tuner Cars. But in some of the other videos on the site, I heard songs such as "Hold the Brakes" (Apollo 440), "Slip and Slide" (A. Skills), "Till the Break of Dawn" (correct title?), and then something from the Pit Crew demonstration that I don't know what it is. Those other three songs I was able to identify can be found within the Environment Element => Dirt and Snow link on the Flash site. I've heard mostly Breakbeat for GT4. Then I've heard of James Brown and Earth, Wind, and Fire remixes in the game. I also noticed some classical music. Maybe it's just me, but 200 mph on the Test Course, listening to something of Mozart's? I... don't know.

I know I'm not a big rock fan, so most of the rock tunes I'll take off of my playlist (there are exceptions in many games I've played). There's five hip-hop songs in the game according to the music list in GT4. It would have been funny to include Ludacris's "Move B****" song in there. It's perhaps the ultimate theme for when you're all p*ssed off and you just want everyone to get out of your way so you can win the race. Then you have Mystikal and I-20 jump in. Disturbing tha' Peace meets New Orleans' Mystikal. Nice mix, I'd say. I heard a nice remix dance remix of "Stand Up" by Ludacris, and that would have been cool for the game.

I hope to get GT4 this weekend and take a listen. Now if you'll excuse me, I have Spring Break to enjoy...

Do you listen to the radio in your car when you drive irl? It helps to set a mood...it helps to enjoy the experience. This is, after all, a GAME. It's supposed to be FUN. Good music helps the experience IMHO. :sly:

Completely different story, you think Mario Andretti listened to music while he raced? May be Senna listen to music while he raced around Monaco??? I don’t think so.

But this is a GAME!!! Meant to be fun? Escapism? Release from the drudgery of everyday life? Thrills and excitement? I don't see a problem if listening to Guns 'N Roses or Poison while I play helps me enjoy the experience. If I want a truly "Real" driving experience, I'll get in my car and actually drive (and even then, I have the radio on!)

Hey! You really have to try out a band called SPAN on the GT4 soundtrack. Its a norwegian rock band, wich is really ROCKS. Also i like the old rock tunes on the soundtrack, like Van Halen, satriani and of course Queens of the Stoneage !

Erlend, Trondheim, Norway

Bush - Machinehead. That's my anthem for any driving game, and it started in '95 when playing the original Need For Speed. No matter how many times I hear that song, either when driving for real or driving on the console, it gets me revved up.

Pearl Jam - Rearviewmirror is also a personal fave.

Usually I just put the iPod on shuffle and let it choose for me. Kickin asses and takin names usually takes most of my concentration.

When the bad sounds of GT4 start to get to me, I throw on some music in the background. Not just music though... I still gotta be able to hear my car.

Gotta have some Project Pat, Three 6 Mafia, Tear Da Club Up Thugs, Spice 1, MC Eiht, Dubee, Mac Dre, and hella others. Depends on the mood I guess.

To bring this thread back, I just want to say that some of the classical music is pretty good for the classic car races. Putting classical music into your Racing Playlist seemed a little dumb to me, but after racing with classical music, it isn't bad. Everything from Erik Satie to the great Mozart is pretty nice to listen to in classic cars. In fact, this sort of music made the "1000 Miles!" event seem a little more fun with these priceless classics. Speaking of that championship race series, I may just race that again, this time, in one of my favorite Japanese cars of all time, the Toyota 2000GT. It may be slower, but it's more controllable. So I'll just mod it up and have some fun.

I usually turn the music's volume low, and engine's sound high. If i am not lazy, i will take out the stereo and listen to my own cds.

I listen to Daiki Kasho's songs which are actually performed by Dakota Star.......amazing stuff........

Did you know that they remixed nearly all of Daiki Kasho's songs for the final GT4 release! they all sounded different in Prologue.......the new ones are more 'rocky' and sound excellent!

I turn off the music and i have the sound of the PS2 pluged into the PC and listen the sound of the cars with My selection of music.....That is

Lagwagon
Pennywise
Mellincolin
Mad Cadies
Less Than Jake
Primitive Reason (Portuguese Band)
Rancid
Sublime
System Of a Down
Anger
etc....etc...etc

Here some of my worksation (LOL)
