Yes, my favourite cat in the world, Tiger has gone missing. Its a slightly gut wrenching feeling as previously when my other cat, Felix, went missing he then died.

As some of you might remember, but most probably won't, Tiger was the cat which I used a avatar on GTP for awhile.

He was also featured in the funny cat thread.

As Tiger is a inquisitive chap, we reckon he might have been accidently shut into someone's garage or cupboard inside, so the search has begun around the neighbourhood. I know that most people won't give a damn about this, but see this as a thread for people to give advice to people who have lost animals and the best ways to help becoming re-united with them.

Well as I have lost one of my cats a few years ago, I know exactly how you feel..... I had two Orange-Ginger Cats (which both are brothers) and one of them went missing after leaving home..... :( Did try to search for him, but to no avail. So now we just got one left.

Well just try to search for him and hope for the best. Maybe you need to circumcised your cat so he won't be so much active. We had to circumcised our cat because he was just too active. Did cost us a lot, but now he doesn't stray away from home for long and always comes back home.... :)

That is below average, I hope that he returns to you. I've heard some wild stories about animals finding their way home.

Lets just hope the Zombie Cat hasn't found your Tiger! :scared:

I've had one of my cats go missing for a week and a half in the middle of winter and he strolled in the front door one day as if he had just gone out for some fresh air. Animals will be animals, you never know when or if they'll come back. Is he an inside cat? If so, and just managed to escape, there's no telling when he'll be back. If you've got a cat that goes outdoors a lot, then they come back eventually unless something has happened to them.

Call the city and ask if they've had any calls for cars killedon the road or something like that. They might be able to help you.

Good luck to you. I've had lots of cats over the years, and that "didn't come home for breakfast" feeling is never a good one. I'll be thinking about him and you.

Thanks for all your reassuring comments, I can't reply to all of them but there are a few comments that I wanted to reply to.

Leave some food out on the door step or something.

See in most terms, that would be a great idea, however over the past few weeks we have discovered another cat which has been sneaking into our house and stealing Tiger's food. Also no doubt if we left food on our doorstep one of the 5 cats down our road would eat it.

I know what you mean, and I knew this kind of comment would come out. I know that you can't stop them at all. Concerning Tiger, he is a mixture of the two, some days mainly after he has bought us something intresting like last week he bought us a mole, then he tends to sleep for the next 2-3 days inside. However, he usually just goes outside and plays around the neighbourhood and mocks the other cats.

I sure hope he hasn't been run over. Yes, I live near a fairly busy road but he tends to stay instead the estate where the traffic is very low, you'd be lucky to get a car per hour. He tends to be good with traffic.

The only probelm which worries me is that he has no collar. The reasons for this are simple. He is clever. We have given him 3-4 different types of collars all of which he has got off somehow. Luckily he is chipped which means that if they were to take him to a Vet then they could identify who the owner was by this chip.

Oh and concerning Muzaffar Musa's question, yes he has been castrated. Simply because he needed calming down alot...

My cat does the same thing, goes out for a few days and them comes back like nothing ever happened. Little did he know I was looking for him the whole time.

Hope he gets found and is doing well

I read a story rcently where a car disappeared from a home in London and turned up in Brighton..60 miles away..

Even if he had a collar, there are better chances of the cat's instincts taking him home more than someone who found him.

I'd wait it out. Like I said, when my cat went missing a few weeks ago I was a nervous wreck. He came back just like that and wondered what the fuss was when everyone was hugging him once he turned up.

Cats are smarter than most people think. Keep your hopes up.

Yet my cat at over 1 year old doesnt know how to use his litter box. Stupid cat.

My cat needs a swift kick in his persian nuts.

Anyway i've lost many a cat myself.. The only one that ever returned we had to put to sleep because he had somehow skinned his tail and broke his pelvis, as well as separating his tail from his spine. :(

I hope he turns up man, good luck.

I believe you're talking about neutering/spading?

AWWW...:(:( I'm so sorry. I know how it feels man I have had one of my kitties "run away" (it was hit by a car and I was told 2 years later) and Another one die which I had for 10 years. I'll give you a prayer for you kitty to come back. BTW if either of my two current cats (they're sweethearts) ran away I would be heart broken. One of my current cats was hit by a car 2 months ago was got f'd up. Guess what? He still cries by the door to go out.

How long has it been gone?

Thanks again for all your support its very helpful and I'm very appreciative about it all.

How long has it been gone?

Its been gone just over 3 days now.

A few minutes ago I swear to God I heard Tiger's Meow, might have been my imagination but I swear it was real. I ran to get the torch and look around outside although found nothing. I'm hoping he is somewhere safe for the night after all it is definately windy tonight..and wet..and cold..:scared:

Self-driving cars?

 That's what I was thinking too :P

Oh, and Cars aren't the only smart ones, we had a rabbit that we lost in oct-nov or so about 10 years ago, he came back right after christmas.

But us, having 5 cats, know that it is all to easy to lose one, thankfully only one of ours ever got lost, and he came back after a week or so, after getting attacked by a feral black cat that lived here before we moved (Which we caught and tried to take to the shelter, but that's a different story, PM me if you want more details)

From,
Chris.

Sorry, I mean castrated..... :ouch: Didn't know how to actually say it, but you get the point......

Well, I think 3 days isn't that long. He should come back home in a week or so. Can't actually think he would leave you for some other owner...... :scared:

Well, let me share a hopeful story for you. It's one I pull out every now and then during discussions of faith.

Years ago, we had a cat named Smokey. Black with a white undercoat, hence the name. Picked him up as a stray after Mom started feeding him. He liked to sleep under the car outside, and was usually smart enough to leave when the car started. Well, one day he wasn't... my dad ran him over. Completely by accident, he thought Smokey had already taken off. The damage was surprisingly minor, and Smokey took off like a rocket into the trees, obviously in quite a bit of pain. My dad stayed home that day to try to find him and get him taken care of.

He was gone for more than a week.

Then one night at dinner, I couldn't tell you why, I tacked a little something onto the usual grace that we say before eating. I asked God to bring our cat home, Amen. Sure, I've prayed lots of times, but this was one time where I really felt it... tears welling up in my eyes as I said it, the whole nine yards. I really missed that cat, and I think He knew it.

Smokey appeared on the back porch before we'd even finished eating.

We took him to the vet right then and there, of course. His hip was broken, but otherwise he was largely unhurt. He stayed with us for many years afterwards, and finally died a very old and happy cat a couple years ago.

Just wanted to share that. It's no guarantee of a happy ending for you and Tiger, but just a reminder to have a little faith. And don't be afraid to ask for help. :)

If he's inquisitive and good natured, he may have wandered into another cat person's house.
Eventually they will open the door when he's waiting and he'll get out. I have a cat that exhibits this behaviour, and has for about ten of the last eleven years.
If he wasn't killed by a passing motorist, that may be the case.

One of my other cats used to go out for the sole purpose of visiting the neighbors, then working on the neighborhood rodent problem, and then she'd come home.

As you can probably have guessed, there still isn't any news on his whereabouts or his health. I'm starting to think that he may well be stuck in the new estate just over the fence around the back of the house, so I will be hitting that estate with the lost information on tommorrow.

We have checked almost all the roads in the local area and none have any road kill on, we have also contacted the local vets and a cat stray association which both might be able to help.

Things aren't looking good, and the longer time he is away the more I'm getting upset about it.

I swear that cat is related to mine!
How old is it?
I've had many cats run away and not come back, but we live in an area with a lot of forest, and plenty of hungry wild animals. Now we tend to keep our cats inside all the time.
