If there is anything I need to do to make it look more real let me know!

I added a CC Toner, masked out the lights and added a glow effect as well as the area were the lights hit the ground. Put an eclipse mask and cranked the feather up so it is dark around the edges. Annnnd the Stingray logo.

Leave feedback please. :)

i might wash it out a bit more that almost looks too hd(colourful) just wash it out a bit and you'll be amazed i dont have photoshop so i dont know the technical term but you know what i mean i hope

I dont lol, sorry. Thanks for the tip though.

I actually prefer the original one. The color on the edited one is a little bit to blue for my taste and I like the vibrance of the first one. Not right or wrong, just a personal preference.

And I think the original has a little bit better contrast, darks are darker, lights are lighter ect.

Maybe try adding a little bit of contrast to your edited one? Depending what your able to do too, I would try and take out that shadow on the road!

I would try some different crops too, see if you can get the car out of being dead center of the image, sometimes that helps the composition.

All in all though not a bad shot.

i think by wash it out he means less saturation.

Okay thanks

I will try the things you suggested.

Ok first of all, there really is no need for this thread. As we have the Gran Turismo 5 Arts & Concepts thread as well as the Heavy Edits thread.

Secondly, After Effects is intended for working with film and animation. Not editing photos, that's what Lightroom & Photoshop are for. I suggest you use a photo editor, rather than After Effects.

Nontheless, I prefer your original image.

After Effects is all I have at the moment.

I posted this thread so I could get direct feedback, not people saying I need a new editing program and there is no need for my thread.

Give me a tip, leave some feedback thats it.

I was giving you a tip, by saying you could improve your photos with a proper photo editing suite. There are free ones like GIMP or Paint.Net which a lot of people use round here, not just Photoshop or Lightroom.

Again, your first one seems better because it doesn't give you a cold feeling.

I learnt everything i know on Photoshop CS so it is well worth getting.

Amen to that! Photoshop is by far the most versatile and powerful photo editing tool out there.

If it's true that you can get the CS2 version for free via Adobe I would go for that - hands down!

The advice of visiting another thread is a valid one; those threads are highly trafficked, meaning there's just as good of a chance, if not more, of getting the feedback you do desire from within them. Instead of continuing to rush to create new threads on a daily basis, the majority of which already have their topics discussed in other threads, why not contribute to the more established threads, and simultaneously cut down on clutter? If every single person posted a "my first edit" thread, this section would be hell to navigate! :)

As for the edit itself; it's very minor, and like others have mentioned, you're hindering yourself by not using software primarily designed for photo editing. After Effects works, but with other, dedicated software options out there, such as paint.net, GIMP, or even the free CS2 Adobe is handing out lately, you have better options easily available. The CS2 offer in particular is a great deal, as there's little you'll be missing compared to CS6 if you're just starting out.

Take a look at some of the Tutorials in the stickied FAQ thread for other helpful threads about editing, as well as composition. An image with the car smack dab in the middle won't draw a viewer in as much as a more dynamic, asymmetrical composition 👍

P.S. Avoid double-posting in the future; if you have something to add to a post, use the Edit feature, and if you're quoting numerous people to respond, the Multi-Quote function takes care of that 👍

Just fyi, I believe you can go to the adobe website and get photoshop CS2 for free now.

Awesome! I'll check it out.

:)

Thanks man. I post new threads because I like direct feedback rather than search through a massive thread. If there was a way the staff could implement a feature so that when someone replys to your post it pops in your notifications. 👍

Thanks for your feedback and piece of mind. I will check out CS2! :)

To be fair though mate, we all remember where we post a picture and that way we can check back every now and again to see if we have any feedback. Create a gallery for your work in the gallery section and you can request critique there everytime you post a new picture. 👍

FYI: At the top of every thread there is a bar called "thread tools". There you have a subscribe button. If you subscribe to the thread you will be notified whenever someone posts in it. :)

Subscribing to threads does essentially that. Also, what Lee said just above me.

I have to wonder how much of my previous post you read though, seeing as how you avoided double-posting just now and instead triple-posted. I've merged them; again, use the Multi-Quote function if you're quoting numerous users to respond to 👍

(NINJA-EDIT) Beaten by [Nor]MclarenF1 :)

Despite all that Liam, hope you enjoy the photomode forums and i'm sure by looking through loads of galleries and entering competitions you'll improve greatly...if you want to be an active member that is. Good luck 👍

I am an active memeber. I am enjoying a lot! Quick question. What are the key things make a GT5 photo look 'real'?

From what I'm learning as a novice: Practice, practice, and..................lighting.

What are the key things make a GT5 photo look 'real'?

Yes lots of practice. But lighting is a big one. Realistic (real world) angles can also help. Good or proper use of focal lengths and DOF(Depth of field). Editing can make a huge difference, changing colour tones and balances. Contrast and brightness. Adding film grain. Lots really.

But it helps if the original image is good to start with as a base, from there it can become great! ;)

I'll give you a few pointers by using two examples of realistic and non-realistic:

Realistic

-To start with it's taken at a realistic angle - it looks like it was taken by somebody standing somewhere along the track.
-It has a sence of motion without looking like the car is going at warp speed.
-The colors are toned down. If you look at real life track photos you'll notice the colors aren't always vibrant and popping.

Unrealistic

You can clearly see the differense. Colors are vibrant and clear, the angle isn't really realistic - and when you look at the details of the car you notice that it's just too crisp and perfect.

Lastly I'll throw in a real track photo.
