My obsession with the Nordschleife.

My social life is lacking since the birth of my son, and all of my mates are either too skint to afford a decent car (and therefore have little interest), or, if they do have an interest in cars, their taste is questionable (although personal, of course), and some views on tuning and modifications are slightly optimistic to say the least.

It's annoying, trying to have a proper conversation with someone about cars, and all they want to tell me is that Steve down the arches can chip my civic to 250bhp. Yeh, Ok mate, 81bhp from a remap.

I won't even begin to think about debating the best approach to Adenuer Forst (sp?) with them.

Haha... yea enough of those who claim this and that with a chip etc I've been through that lane with a stage 2 tune of my old S14A and it is NOT that easy to withdraw reliable BHP from an engine. It seem that all "kids" around the globe "learning" through PC, gaming consoles etc... and a faint glimps of reality are as distant as a Mr. Bean on a distant solar system... (yea nowadays in western world no one grows up before they reach 30's due to their fantasy world in a PC).. pity ;-)

Nürburgring: yep sold to Capricorn, sounds promising, with removal of "Nurodisney", ringcard etc.

I think we should really try to get a GTP Meeting at the Ring someday and share our experience with Videos and Pictures on the Forums. I would really like to do that! Also giving impressions how it feels to drive it in real because it's a whole other experience than in Gran Turismo :)
Kaz doesnt really Show visual G-Force Feedback in the game. But the Ring in reallife is like a rollercoaster ride!

Sounds good but what happened to the American group in the news the other day? Just curious.

I believe they were offering 85MM, so that's already a good place to start figuring it out.
I also imagine that any offer in the same ballpark as theirs, but coming from the "right" side of the Atlantic, would be the winner.
We can talk about globalization as much as we want, but people are still much fonder of their own "tribes". The more things change...

Yeh, that straight is pretty painful in my 380pp aerodeck replica, the rest of the track is a hoot though, trying to maintain momentum the whole time.

There's a gauge for (lateral) acceleration... and very nearly all people are familiar with what 1 G feels like. Come on.

As I Said there is no visual Feedback. The Cockpit movement insnt there. It should be bouncy such as in Asetto Corsa, iRacing, Pcars etc... The view to the road keeps stiff but the car moves around. In GT you dont have any of that Feedback going over bumps etc. Except strange Cockpit Vibration where your view vibrates and makes you Motion sick in Corners. Thats what I was reffering to.

I agree with both of you.

I have used a G meter on my phone in my car, to see what I can generate around roundabouts etc, and therefore I enjoy glancing at the G meter in game, as I have a rough idea of what that should feel like.

I tend to only use bumper cam, but I know exactly what you mean about cockpit cam. Sometimes the drivers head seems to go forward/down under heavy braking, and the vibration as you say, but not much else, giving G force feedback.

This Video Shows really good how to give visual G-Force Feedback. The view isn't shaking just the car does as your head would move in the Cockpit but your eyes Keep focused to the road as in real life. Looks natural ! Cockpit gameplay Stars at 1 min.

That does look seriously good.

Very impressive, and very much along the right lines.

Another great example.

Beautiful again. It's a shame I don't have the time for pc gaming.

This is why I love GT. Because I get a half decent sim experience, with the ease of a console.

Would love to go down the PC route though.

Hopefully gt7 breaks new boundaries for console sims.

Trust me it isn't as expensive as you might think. a proper graphics Card with a good CPU isn't too expensive. It's like in the range of the PS4 and you can Play those games. Maybe not on Ultra Settings but on very high standarts anyways. :) at 60FPS with advanced Motion blur.

Just if PD would give us more Options. It's not like it wasnt possible to add those animations etc...

I've a few mates that would build me a decent computer for not much money, but I prefer the plug and play ability of a console.

Trust me, I will do it when I have the spare time to immerse myself properly.

I'd lose months, if not years to stuff like DayZ, the Arma mod. Arma 3 looks mental, not to mention all the great racing sims etc.

Thats very true, it has like endless oportunities. I also have a decent PC with quick i7 CPU etc but I always find myself coming back to my PS3 and PS4 because I like laying comfy on my Couch playing on a big TV. My PC cant offer that Luxus :sly:

Anyways lets see what Next Gen. GT will bring. I am sure the Ring will become alive there. With actual grass and trees moving in the wind etc. :)

As long as it's safe, and Mr F1 isn't buying it, I don't really care who gets it.

I've been getting some funny looks from friends, that have never heard of the place, but I'm excitedly telling them that the nurburgring has been bought, and that the future looks good.

Then go on to explain what the hell it is, and be genuinely offended that they don't care.

I need more car buddies.

I gave up on telling my friends about the Green Hell... Even the car fans aren't so aware of what a ride in the Nordschleife means. We are just a bunch of petrol heads obsessed with a piece of tarmac in the middle of nowhere in Germany, nobody understands us...

It's funny, just today I found out a friend I've known for a while shares my love for the Nurb. Spent an hour watching youtube videos together

I just convinced 2 buddies to take a trip next year last night, while showing them my new G27 with a Scirocco '10 race around the Nordschleife. Neither got the win (1 lap race, both came in 3rd, both slipped out at Schwedenkreuz and Pflazgarten), but both enjoyed themselves and wanted more, so I not so subtly pulled out the ipad, did some math and proved that even though we need to cross the Atlantic, it's still worth it and not that much money.

Promise of Oktoberfest in München might have helped as well, I'm not sure...

Hooray!!!

München is a bit far from the Eifel region but after a transatlantic flight is just a question of renting a car. It took me almost 5 hours from Nürburg to Ingolstadt, just a few kilometers from München. I've crossed Germany a couple of times in my own car and is just as amazing as a ride in the Green Hell. Going flat out without the risk of been fined is priceless.

I've done that a couple of times and you're right, the feeling of going flat out for as long as you'd like is pretty good. Last time I rented a Golf V6 TDI and was around and also south of Frankfurt and holy crap it was fun.

And yes, München is far, but once you are in a plane for 14 hours, nothing is far away, especially if there's beer, women, food and more beer and more women at the end of that.
Just need to make sure I don't spend all my money in 27 euro increments...

Very nice cameras, by the way.
