Mine doesn't look much better GTR, in fact they look rather, ahm, basic-skilled

Alternatively, you could use a game with a decent track creator, do a lap on it and tell Jujuno what to make of it (that's what I've done this far :sly: )

TrackMania is highly recommended, easy to learn, Nations is free (me has United though) and doesn't take too much space on your PC. The only let-down is it's built up of blocks and has a relatively small building space. Not too big of a problem when you know how to work around it though :)

Oh I own TM United forever, TBH, it is easy to copy it, so I also got it free from my friend, and I have some really awesome tracks... but they are unrealistic... 👍
No I'll try to do some impressions, just a corner or some special place on the track and a very basic-drawn complete layout... It just takes some time...

Ah, you have experience in it too :) I keep having ideas for unrealistic ones, but they're either impossible or I lose interest along the way. On the other hand I managed to do a near-perfect Nordschleife on the limited space :dopey: (not to mention, a team I used to race with had ~60 real F1 tracks recreated in it)

Anyway, I should be able to make one or two projects this weekend, plenty of ideas 👍

I'll give it a try... I think the Bay surroundings are the best for a city map, aren't they?

I've not commented for some time, apologies for that, and am not currently in a position to try the game either, but having watched the various videos here I'm blown away by the progress that has been made on this, I could make a very long list of what I find awesome about how things are right now, but perhaps more useful would be some potential issues/areas for development, as I see them at least?

Please see this as constructive feedback! Firstly, from the videos there seems to be a strange sense of speed, or more lack of, as if I focus on the trackside assets there seems little variance in the speed at which they move past, therefore whilst the performance and movement of the car is clearly affected by its speed, the surroundings aren't so much.

I can only think that this might be to do with the lack of assets that are near the edge of the track, and the many large assets which are further away and therefore less affected by changes in speed. Clearly the game works in real time and the tracks are of a sensible length, however are the large stands, trees and such actually in scale with the track and the car, or perhaps a little too big? If one was to put the car across some of the seats in the stand would it be to scale? I hope that makes sense.

I noticed one of the tracks has some trees closer to trackside creating a better parallax effect, but they still seemed a little flat for now, and things just didn't seem very fast. Perhaps this will change with the city track/map, which is very exciting.

My only other observation is that I think you are squeezing a heck of a lot out of a browser-based game, which is admirable to say the least, but please don't let the restrictions of this format clip your wings either. I think at this rate of development there may come a point where you need to perhaps freeze the browser-based version, and make the latest version download-only, or perhaps a combination of the two with a launcher, similar to the model employed by Mojang with Minecraft.

By that point, perhaps it will have reached a stage where people will be willing to pay real money for the game too :)

Tyger, thank you very much for your awesome feedback.
I do agree with all of what you say.

The lack of speed is quite a problem and i don't know how to fix it properly at the moment..

But that is sure that the lack of small objects close to the side of the track affect the sens of speed.

I will try to see what i can do.
But as you mentioned, a city track may solve this issue because of the amount of objects that are surrounding the road.

***EDIT***
I'll give it a try... I think the Bay surroundings are the best for a city map, aren't they?
I think they are!
I want to do that :)

Because the city would need some limitation in order to not make it too big (too much work).
So, water surrounding is very very nice i think.

Or, said in a different way, you're doing the city limiting the GTA way :sly:

With holiday coming up next week, I should be able to do some runs and come up with a few tracks 👍

Ohhh my TM track is ready, if you still need it... I just need something to capture a screenvid... or do you have TM? If yes, I think I can try to send you the track data...

If you can upload the track somewhere, I can record a lap and pass it on 👍

Actually, just do it, I want to see what you've come up with :)

Where is the best place to upload... maybe Filefront (biggest Mod site for Star Wars Battlefront 2)

oooor you also give me your e-mail and I'll send a WinRAR file...

Hi every one, its been a while since i didn't posted on this thread, as you may probably guessed i stopped working on Redline Racing with no much chances of working on it anymore....

Anyway, this is what i thought, until something strange happened in mind :)
Like a small voice telling me that i should try some more before putting to trash Redline Racing forever..

Thats right, Redline Racing is back for more badass content!
The goal is the same as before,
Free and multiplatform!

Here is the first screenshot of a long series to come :)

Dude, that sounds (and looks) awesome!

*digs out all my car encyclopedias, preparing to do more descriptions as well as improving the old ones*

Still a shame I have no idea about using Blender, but you're getting heaps of respect from this user! 👍

For some reason I haven't noticed this thread before now, what you've done so far for just 2 guys is incredible. I'd love to have the time, patience and skill you guys have clearly got in order to have got this far,but 👍 anyway.

Thanks for your support guys, its nice to see that the veterans are still here hehe.
I will finally get a new MAC with more power to do 3D tasks and modeling.
So hopefully it will be easier to work on Redline Racing.

I have another great shot of the F430 (coming in next build 08) The shader work really nice with red color but the reflection intensity is too strong when used with white body color for example.

So i need to adjust the reflection intenstity regarding the color strength or something..
Need to make some more tests.

As you can see on the screenshots, now Unity free support dynamic shadow, so it add a little plus to the overall graphics. But its a little bit CPU intensive so i need to optimize the racetracks and the cars more.

By the way, i never though that Redline Racing would look this good hehe.
When you look back to the first build its kind of hilarious :D

Good to hear that you found some more inspiration and ideas you want to work out, I'm curious what the results will be.

Wow. How have I not seen this yet?! Very impressive!
Can't wait to see what this becomes! 👍

Do you have plans of a damage model?

Hi nascarfan!

Do you have plans of a damage model?
Not yet, not sure to work on it in the near future for various reasons.
The main reason is time and resources.

By the way, i just get my new computer today and it is absolutely awesome! (iMac with hi specs!)
I will now be able to work on Redline Racing in better conditions!

Thank you and good luck, I am blown away that two guys created all of this! 👍

Good to hear everything's got to 2nd gear now 👍

Means I need no longer feel guilty if I spam you with tracks, descriptions, car requests.. :sly:

Hi everyone.
I have an important news about Redline Racing.

The next Build will also be available on Mobile devices :)

As i have no Android devices to test, iOS version will come out first, but hopefully Android will follow soon.

I already made some tests on my iPhone 4s and it looks very promising!
Its just so good to be able to bring the game in my pocket and play it everywhere!

I would also need few beta testers to give feedback on the touch input.
Actually its quite challenging the keep the game simulation oriented on touch devices.

See you soon for more news!!

Wow! That's fantastic news! 👍
You could start making some serious money off of this if you wanted to. :)

Hey thank you for your support nascarfan.
I am not sure that i can make serious money out of this (The game will be free by the way)..
The competition is really tough for racing games.
If you look at games like asphalt 7 or real racing for example i have some serious contenders hehe.
They have amazing graphics, licenses of famous cars, high advertisement budget etc...

But if you guys support the project we might be able to kick their ass!!
I am very sure that if i listen to your feedack guys and improve the game the right way, we can make an astonishing game!

Let's make the mobile version of Gran Turismo right now :D :D :D

Have you considered Kickstart or Steam Greenlight for more development money? :)

This is very impressive, but as my name insists, will there be the chance of an oval and a NASCAR car in the future? :D

Nas doesn't think of anything but NASCAR. But then again, me and my user name.. :)

I surely am looking forward to seeing what the new year brings 👍

Kickstart
Kickstarter accept only American resident and thats not my case..

Sorry but no..
There will be no damage model so i guess that nascar would be boring even if we implement it anyway.
