My Racing Simulation [Build 07]

Actually, all this McLaren-gone-AWOL paired with a bit of Old-vs-new (GT6, heck, nearly all races in GT6. And the "1 lap magic" from GT4 :drool: ), Juiced 2, NFS Carbon and, perhaps in particular, Top Gear, gave me two ideas for "seasonal events". Caught the ideas already? No? Simple, really.

1: In this idea, it's two cars lining up against each other - a more powerful supercar vs. a less powerful "non-supercar". The name of the game here is that in the first round, you'll pilot the slow car. What you need to do is get the most out of your headstart (which is based on various criteria) and manage to avoid being overtaken by the supercar for as long as possible (craching it results in instant DSQ). You'll then score one point for every full second you're succesfully defending. In the second round, you take the wheel of the supercar. In this round, you're trying to overtake the slow car, still without making contact. For every second you're behind, you lose one point. For the sake of continuity, the points start adding up/being removed the moment the slow car starts.

2: Well, look at the Top Gear video or "1 Lap Magic/Old vs. New" from GT4/6. X (preferably between 2 and 6) cars (potentially from the same manufacturer) from different eras and with different performance levels line up on the grid, with the slowest car starting in first, and the fastest starting last. They'll then be given a handicap based on their performance level, and the objective is for you to eliminate the handicap and win the race. Can't be much more straight-forward than this :)

@jujunosuke, the Master of Redline Racing, can you tell us if either of these ideas could be possible once AI/online is implemented? It would be such a blast to do the last one with GTP members and recording, I predict a lot of epic moments :D


I do consider every idea and love these two ones.
It would fit nicely in the philosophy of the game. Pure Racing.


How's the city track coming along juju?
To tell the truth, not very well...
I tried few times to make a city track but the results was not as good as i could expect.
Modeling the city part is very tricky and take a long time, and as i am a perfectionist it would be an endless work.

So that is why i would like to focus on racetracks.

You can argue about the purity, but it'd make for some great, fun challenges :)

Nooooo! I was just looking forward to a city track! :( Oh well, maybe at a later point, who knows? :)
 
This game is very good that it's still in its infancy surprises me. I played it on a keyboard first and found it a bit hard,but then I used my Mad Catz Xbox 360 controller and its rather easy to play.

I noticed when using the Xbox 360 controller that the layout of the buttons is odd, X is accelerate and A is brake. But I'm sure I can change the layout once I know what each of the buttons is called in Windows.

Edit: Had another play and used most of the cars and noticed that on some cars such as the Nissan GTR (R35) that the brakes are very faint as I don't notice much decline in speed when I press the brake button. Also the Lexus LFA has the same problem and can't steer at low speed, I just spin out.

Found two bugs

1. When at the car dealer some of the images on the list don't show up (just black) or the wrong image pops up.

2. When I select another car from my garage and pick the track the previous cars name appears. Example (Nissan GTR (R35) but shows up as Ferrari F40) But is a Nissan GTR on track.

Also is the spedo in MPH or KPH??

When i am in replay mode and add a slow motion effect it just look ridiculously good!

I am happy because it was a lot of work to make it happen 👍

But its still not completely finished.

- I am only recording car position at the moment.
Need to record sounds and other stuffs.

- I may find some issue because i didn't fully tested it yet.


Now i have a lot of work to do on the Replay Camera.
I would like to add this random shaky movement like if a real person was filming. Not filming the target exactly at the center of the camera like it is now.

Ideally i would like to make replay cams like Enthusia.

Unless there are ai in the future (?) a non-centered camera is not entirely necessary.

Great news. How can I drive the Ferrari 430?? As shown in some of the screen shots?? And I'm working on the button layout for a Xbox 360 controller if anyone wants to know.

Just saying..., you could release a mobile version soon; wouldn't that be good? :)

What is that mysterious race track in this picture? Doesn't look anything like Forest Path or Curvy Hills.. should it feel familiar?

Could be in the next update, with a few cars like the Ferrari 430, Pagani Zonda, Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT and Lamborghini Diablo SV?? As shown in screen shots here and on the Redline E website.

Also @jujunosuke have you looked at my first post here with the bug findings with screen shots??

Actually this is Forest Path!
But when i was playing the game on mobile, the performance was not good at all, so i had to rethink entirely the way of doing it. And all the Trees was quite performance intensive.
I plan to add trees again, but there will be only few of them, so the track has no reason to be called Forest Path anymore, i need to find another name.

Curvy Hills will be re polished as well.

That is why you can't play with the Diablo, F430, F458 and the Zonda.

But i plan to release the Build 08 very soon because i need you guys to test it out and review it before i release the iOS and Android version.

I added to much features and this need to be tested.

Is there a way to download the older versions?? And no problem and if I find any more bugs I will let you know. Plus if you need some testers for the Android version, I'm in.

And I wish I herd about this game earlier, it's rather good if I'm honest.

I can test on my PC, However it only has 3gb of RAM...

I can also test on my ipad. How big would this file be on the App Store?
 
Hey, a Gymkhana is already on my todo list.
But to before making it, i have to improve tire model.

Right now its a little bit too simple to have fun on a Gymkhana track maybe..


I also would like to add a Rally Track if possible :)

Hey guys i would like to hear your opinion about a Venice 3d Assets i can get for 25$
Basically its a group of Low polygons Venice assets ready for mobile.
And i think it would be pretty easy to make a Racetrack out of it but i worry a little bit about the quality..

I think i would have to brush up the whole scene or add more stuffs, because it really looks empty for now, and i worry a bit about the extra work i would have to do to incorporate it inside Redline Racing with decent quality.

I haven't seen the demo yet, but based from what you wrote about it, I made a list of pros and cons:

Pros:
- It's not too expensive, assuming the $25 is a one-time fee
- Low-poly means you can put even more random stuff in it :D (obviously a game can only load X polygons at a time, anything above will make it run very slow/crash. I tried this first-hand when installing mods for NFS4)
- They're basically stuff ready for implementation. That's always good
- It gives the work-a-holic more work :D

Cons:

- Slight decline in quality
- Some of the assets are bound to be (or at least seem) useless

With that in mind, I'd say it could be worth a try 👍
 
HOWEVER i think it would be a nice idea to implement MODDING for the PC version.
If i develop a very simple system to import your models inside the Redline engine, you could release any car you want in the future.

Is it possible to mod this game at the moment?? I may give it a try later.
 
Could I use a car mod meant for another game like NFS or GTA?? And I have the main part of the game open in a hex editor and have found 3 removed cars (F430, Zonda and Murcielago RGT. Need to find a way to unlock them). Need to find the other 2 (458 Italia and Diablo SV).

Wooo,it seems the game already have some sort of oval track and mountain?
