VIR would be a nice venue for the Nationwide Series. Mosport would be ideal though.

NASCAR replace a road course with a road course?

Well this is Nationwide not Cup so miracles can happen. Hell Road Amerca was essentially a replacement for Milwaukee, an oval.

The best race in the Nascar schedule gets :censored:canned? Next we'll hear news that Danica Patrick will pose nude in Playboy. :scared:

Someone responded to Speed Channel's Facebook fan page by saying Portland. I almost completely forgot about Portland! It was NASCAR Trucks that did Portland back in 2000. And as I had noted in my blog, Portland would be a double bonus for NASCAR- it would be another great road course to include, but it also gives NASCAR a true Pacific Northwest track to further enhance NASCAR's countrywide appeal. Otherwise, NASCAR would have only Sears Point as the only real "Pacific Northwest" track.

I really think it's a shame the Nationwide series won't race at Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve. Hands down- my favorite memory was when the rain came down hard at the race in Montreal back in 2008; and I thought NASCAR did a damn good job racing in the rain. We all know rain is the great equalizer in racing. I remember one dope expert posted online saying that the race in the rain was atrocious. He talked about it like seeing NASCAR race on an F1 race track in rainy conditions was a bigger racing farce than the 2005 F1 United States Grand Prix. Still- whether you love NASCAR or not, you have to agree that the 2008 Montreal race for Nationwide is one of the most memorable races in NASCAR history.

Portland won't be hosting major touring series event ever again. New noise laws regarding the circuit make it impossible for major series to race there.

VIR would be awesome but I don't think they have the safety required is a issue there. I could be wrong but I thought that was what I heard somewhere in last year.

Kinda late, but still relevent:

Got a similar one prepared for saturday and sunday, though I get the feeling you guys will be far more interested in Sunday.

Grand-Am isn't going back either, shame really. I'm not a huge Nascar fan but I went to the race this year and it was pretty cool, lots of people to, so I'm not sure why they would can it.

I know what will happen this weekend. 11 of the 12 Chase contenders will wreck, excluding Johnson who goes on to win the race.

Actually, he'd only need Brad to crash. Of course, since this is Jimmie we're talking about here, he'll probably get help with Hamlin blowing up or something.

Jimmie has been terrible at restrictor plate tracks lately. We'd be in bizarroworld if Jimmie were to win this weekend.

Well here's a pattern I've noticed over the last few years (mentioned this several times): Jimmie Johnson crashes out only 3 of the 4 restrictor plate races, survives the one he doesn't crash out (which is usually the fall Talladega Race).

It's because he rides in the back most of the race and never pushes in chase race. It makes sense but don't like it.

I don't like the fact that the Speed logo has a big Fox Sports logo on top of it.

It's very foreboding. Looks like SPEED is blocking the bottom half of the Fox logo as well.

And Parker Kligerman wins after "The Big One" on the backstretch.

It's pretty much the end of a dedicated racing channel as we know it. 👎

Might as well call it FOX Racing if your going to have the FOX logo.

For now, it will be Fox Sports 1.

While Fox has declined to comment on its planned channel, people familiar with the matter said the company will convert its niche sports channel called Speed into a broad-based sports network.

Besides baseball, Fox will also put NASCAR racing, college football, soccer and Ultimate Fighting on its cable channel. The working name for the channel is Fox Sports 1.
My guess is that racing will be relegated to late-night/tape-delay. :grumpy:

I was really expecting some else besides of Bass Pro Shops to sponsor Tony's #14. Guess that shows you that it's really hard to get Sponsorship nowadays.

Technically, they kinda already were a sponsor. All this essentially appears to be is BPS stepping up there involvement. Any sponsor (within NASCAR reason) would be fine right about now so not really the best time to be picky.

So basically selling us out to that moron Dana White and his UFC fad.

And also to compete with the other stupid sports network often reffered to as "ESPN". The Racing fans get screwed yet again.

So I just found out a Terry Lobonte will be running in tomorrow's race. What a glorious career he had...I hope gets into the hall of fame.

You didn't know that he raced at the Daytona 500 this year? He lead a lap if I remember.

Good luck to all drivers and teams in today's Cup race at Talladega. "All Hell breaking loose" guaranteed at 'Dega. This one's going to be high-speed mayhem.
