Am I the only one that's kind of happy for Kurt, I mean he escaped a team that was competitive only because it was essentially another Hendrick team to a team that can and has proven that it can win.

X2.

Furniture Row is a much better team and has much better equipment than Phoenix. Kurt got the better deal this time around.

Crashes like those makes me wish we didn't have to race at Talladega. Then again, this is one of the few races that makes people notice NASCAR. Too bad it's for the wrong reasons. :indiff:

You mean for the reasons that at least 75% of NASCAR fans watch it in the first place? "Hey, we don't all just watch it for the wrecks!" Yup, which is why I just went with "75%". Folks must be honest with themselves and acknowledge this fact. The bulk of fans don't watch it for the driving part, but for the spectacle, which is why forums all across the Internet light up with posts crying whenever a race goes without cautions or carnage. If all NASCAR races suddenly became wreck-free and caution-free, viewership would eventually take a dive. Sure, some would still watch, but many wouldn't.

Truth is that this is NASCAR for most people:

I think it's pretty sad that you guys repeatedly wish for people to fail, rather than wish for them to find improvement in their life. The Busch brothers are talented drivers that have anger issues. Personally, I would rather they find ways to manage their anger and learn to control it, so more drivers can compete on Sundays. If the Busch brothers leave the sport, that just means that there are 2 less drivers out there each week with the talent to win. How is that good for anyone?

You should see what people wish for Jimmie constantly and he isn't even the one with anger issues. Seems like they are basically taking the combined frustraition of Furniture Row suddenly dropping Regan Smith (the guy that basicially gave them their only win) AND the team having the nerve to replace him WITH Kurt Busch, who didn't do exactly do anything to quell they're feelings after what he did Sunday. I however do agree about how wishing for people to fail isn't helping. If anything, I actually do have to ask how much it accomplishes at if anything.

I've seen plenty of people wish that Jimmie would stop winning so much, but I've never seen anyone wish that he would suffer some kind of mental breakdown to the point that he was thrown out of NASCAR all together by NASCAR executives, his team, or his sponsors.

Would I like to see someone new win the Sprint Cup championship? Absolutely.

Do I want to see Jimmie Johnson suffer personally in order for it to happen? No way.

The people that are loudly and fanatically against Kyle and Kurt Busch need to find better ways to direct their own anger and hatred, or they are no better than the Busch brothers that they are constantly villifying.

The problem is that Regan Smith, a driver with loads of potential got absolutely screwed over and kicked to the curb to make room for someone with probably the worst reputation in all of motorsports.

👍

But is that any reason to wish for Kurt to suffer because somebody you like got fired?

Regan Smith didn't get screwed. He's being replaced by a driver that is more likely to win races in the same equipment. At the end of the day, the team's number one goal is to win races, not to win a popularity contest. The 78 team is owned by the sponsor, so this tells me that performance is their number one criteria for their driver. Of the two, Busch is way more likely to deliver wins than Smith. After all, Smith's one and only career victory at Darlington last season was a complete fluke.

I don't like Kurt because he shows no respect to anyone. Not other drivers, not his team, and certainly not the people who spend the money to get him in a seat of a car that he's certainly had issues with lately keeping it facing forward. The way he treats people with ZERO respect, means he get's the same from me. Driver swap or not, I don't care if he's the best driver in the world. You can only expect the same treatment that you give to others, which in Kurt's case is unacceptable.

After all, Smith's one and only career victory at Darlington last season was a complete fluke.

Disagree. If it was a fluke, he could have easily been passed in the two laps at the end of the race. The guy drove his ass off, stayed in front of one of the Championship leaders to EARN his first victory.

I always want every driver to do well in any discipline of motorsport. After all, they are athletes- not politicians, or anything like that. They didn't do anything to hurt you or your feelings. It's like YouTube people (speaking from experience)- why hate on somebody you don't even know personally like they did you incredibly wrong? While in no way a Busch brothers' fan, I do wish Kyle and Kurt the best in their racing.

Then too, I never wish anyone to fail at something like sports or certain arenas of life or entertainment. It all just goes back to all the different life issues I encounter and chat about online. I'm just not like that, people.

What happened to Furniture Row's plans to go two cars for next season?

Maybe but he has had time to improve and really hasn't made much impression for the equipment other than his 2 wins (one didn't count but was heck of a run).

Kurt has talent hands down but Finch didn't have the equipment that can handle being beat on at all. Cassil was alot easier on parts but we saw how he has finished then too. BK has better equipment and it shows for him.

That was pretty dependent on Dodge staying last I checked and since that didn't happen, they won't go to two cars. At least not yet at present.

If it wasn't a fluke, Smith might have shown the ability to win or run up front at any other track since then. He has not. The win was a fluke. It was a product of a one-groove track on which it is almost impossible to pass (Darlington) and cars that are more aero dependent than ever and unable to pass in dirty air. This was not a sign of great things to come from a young driver. Smith's top 5 this past Sunday was his first of the season, and it only required the entire field to crash for that to happen. It's hard to blame the 78 team for wanting to make a switch. They need better results on the track, and Busch offers them a better chance to achieve the desired results.

Yeah, while he's yelling F-Bombs into their ears.

Like I said, I don't care if he's the best driver in the world. I don't like his attitude and lack of respect for the people around him. The guy is a disgrace to the sport and I hope he's gone sooner than later.

Almost every driver is loudly complaining about their car during a race. If they aren't, then they had better be leading the race.

Even the most mild-mannered athletes get upset and swear in the heat of the moment. One of my all-time favorite youtube clips is of Peyton Manning yelling at teammate Donald Brown, which was caught by NBC's sideline microphones.

Man, that Peyton Manning sure is a jerk. I would hate to have him on my team, yelling at me like that on national television. He is such a disgrace to the sport for losing his temper like that.

NASCAR is a very public sport. We hear radio conversations, there's cameras everywhere before/after a race. It seems that Kurt hardly ever get's attention, but when he does it's because he's doing something wrong or being an ass as usual.

Don't defend the guy. Doesn't matter what you say, I won't agree with you.

Conversation over.

I watched the last 15 laps today only to witness a letdown finish. Waltrip was going to win, and then this happens. Stewart's fault all the way. Another thing that disappointed me was McMurray's spin, although I'm not sure he would've had enough fuel to make it to the end without a caution.

For the record, I hate big wrecks, because they're more than likely to take out all the good guys while leaving goons like Kyle Busch to get a podium finish. Props to Kenseth & Gordon though.

Give it up MustangRyan, haters are going to hate no matter what you say...just check the F1 threads

Regan Smith's win at Darlington was a fluke, as well as Trevor Bayne's Daytona 500 win and David Ragan's win at the Coke Zero 400. Look up the stats of all of those guys from last year, the only good things they did were win those races. Well, David Ragan did crack the top 5 several times, but that was about it.

I just think if you're good enough to pull off a win, no matter how it happened, it wasn't a fluke. But whatever, to each their own. Not like I care anyway.

I'm rather doubtful that it is all a conspiracy that they all do it just the same as he does and he's the only one focused on.

Despite the fact that it's possible for every other driver to do what he does over the radio, the video recorded of him totally disrespecting the TV reporter was the final straw for me.
