We've been spoiled for the past couple of years with the top two drivers in the standings battling for wins at the end of the Chase. It's too bad that the wrong guy will have come out on top each time.

I have to give a lot of respect to Keslowski, he came 2nd and fought hard against the 48 and in the interview he doesn't pout about 2nd place, he knows it was a good finish and hard racing.

I also noticed a similar demeanor in him after the finish in Watkins Glen, I do hope he wins the championship this year and sends the Dodge out in a proper fashion.

Let me guess, Hendrick paid off Penske to let Johnson drive around Keselowski?

I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I think Johnson and his team are better than Keselowski - I just wish that they weren't. They deserved to win this race, and I'm not at all convinced that they've actually been luckier over the course of the season than the 2 team. It just seems like it because we're conditioned to zero in on those moments when they do seem lucky.

Seven points has never looked like a more insurmountable deficit than it does now.

Damn I don't know now if Brad can win the Championship!!

He's only behind by 7 points. Johnson doesn't get along too well with Homestead. It's still either man's game.

Did you watch the F1 race this morning?

Johnson's worst points finish was 6th (2002, 2011). Vettel's was 8th (2008), and in a smaller field.

Vettel was also driving for a mid-pack team, with a rules package that favoured the highly developed Ferrari's and McLarens. Really doesn't count. I fail to see how that means anything.

I don't get the hate.. He always does well for a reason.

Yeah, luck (most of the time). There were several times that Keselowski could have had this race wrapped up, but then came a whole bunch of cautions. Finally, when Johnson has a comfortable lead, nothing bad happens, and Johnson wins the race.

Johnson might be a little luckier than the average driver, but by far and away the biggest reason for his success is that he's a very good driver with some of the fastest cars in the sport and a preternatural feel (along with his crew chief) for making the right in-race adjustments. It's terrible, lazy reasoning to focus on this race and call it a perfect example of why he's so lucky, when Brad, for instance, has had multiple races this season play to his greatest strength, fuel mileage. We're far too biased as observers to accurately judge who has been luckier.

But even if he's deserving, I don't think it's good for the sport for Johnson to win a sixth championship. This is what drives me nuts about the conspiracy theorists - what in the world does NASCAR have to gain from Johnson winning yet again, when by all accounts his domination is turning fans off from the sport left and right? Brad would attract a lot of attention and interest from the public as a champion, with his confident/cocky attitude and fresher face.

‎"I refuse to lose this damn Championship" -Brad

I got goosebumps when he said that.

You don't win 5 championships on luck..

I'm scared to ask why? I mean he just is going to go down fighting.

I'm not saying that he won 5 championships because of luck. I'm saying that Johnson is usually in the right place at the right time. He can be back in 25th, then some wrecks and cautions occur, and he's back in 1st. Doesn't happen all of the time, but it does happen a lot.

NASCAR could at least switch some of the tracks in The Chase considering Johnson dominates on the ones currently in The Chase.

I don't hate Johnson, but it does get irritating when he wins so much. We still have 2 races left and the points deficit isn't very high. Keselowski isn't done yet.

Keselowski can close the gap on Johnson to, say, three or four points after Phoenix and heading on into Homestead, we very likely could see the championship come down to and be settled in much the same fashion as we did last year. And this time, we may have to go to the second or even third tie-breaker to decide the crown. Oh, and by the way, who wound up being the guy that won the title last season? The very same guy who came into Homestead in second place. Just sayin, yo!

No, but JJ's Teammate sure did hit the wall at the exact moment that jimmie need it. And the caution didn't come out until everything was settled out. I don't know. It just seems suspicious.:odd:

Funny thing is, guess who also was in that same position in 2010.

EDIT: Hey guys, found this video. Explains not only that three wide incident, but the after race scuffle as well.

Oh, come on. You're saying that Gordon deliberately put himself in a spot where Biffle would get him loose, sending him up the track and cutting down Kahne's left rear tire so that the latter driver would crash in the following corner? When Kahne was fighting to stay in championship contention? This suggestion is straight from the loony bin.

Wow. I initially had blamed Dillon for that, but the onboard video pretty clearly shows that Hamlin was completely out of line. He made a banzai move into Turn 1 on the last lap, and it was sufficiently outrageous that Annett's spotter didn't have time to tell him that he was three-wide, and he forced Dillon down the track and into Hamlin. Dillon then mildly expressed his displeasure by gently rubbing fenders on the cool-down lap, and Hamlin responds by driving him into the pit wall. I suppose that Dillon could have backed off going into Turn 1 to line up behind Annett once his spotter told him that Hamlin was to his inside, but I think the fault lies pretty clearly with Hamlin's aggressiveness.

Heard on Sirius today that JJ owns the tiebreakers down to and including 4th place finishes. So brad must win phoenix.

Stating the obvious again....

Realistically, Brad needs to win Phoenix and place at least 2nd at Homestead (and well ahead of the 48) to have any shot at the title without help. If Johnson wins Homestead its irrelevant though. Brad's season could end this week at Phoenix. Oh and about the beating and banging between the 2 and the 48, I think Jimmie was responsible for helping Brad get out of his car at Road Atlanta when he took that nasty practice crash.

Reading Jayski again, Brian Vickers will be racing for JGR in the Nationwide Series next year, and a new team called "Xxxtreme Motorsports" will be racing at Phoenix with David Reutimann behind the wheel.

Thought Reutimann was at BK when not in the #10?

Holy crap. This is the perfect opportunity to troll Kyle Busch by putting Vickers in the #18 car full time

Is it wrong that I like this team already for other reasons?

I can't like them at all because of driver and start/park to fund builds for next year.

Now Joey Coulter is headed to KBM next year. I find this funny because of whole RCR/KHI vs JGR/KBM issues over the years. Now JGR/KBM have Joey and looks to be Sadler there too. Another guy from KHI went to KBM too but don't remember off hand.

Finally the Iconic #24 on the side of a new car! I hope they bring back the red and blue flames!
