I hope he goes to SHR, hope Budweiser and Jimmy Johns follows too. Just now what will i do with all this 29 stuff? lol

I guess fair to say to see Kurt to RCR in 2014, Austin to move up to the 3 will more than likely happen. Just wonder what Harvick will do about all his NW/truck races lol.

I seriously wonder what hope RCR has now. Clint's gone. Harvick's off in 13 months. Burton and Menard didn't really come close to making the Chase this year and Brendan Gaughan hasn't really set the world alight with his limited showings, I anticipate a possible merger with Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing shaping up.

What you said makes a lot of sense. They already have an engine alliance (Earnhardt-Childress). so yeah.

Menard is still Richard's Money Tree though so Richard will try to keep him once Austin come along. I do unfortunately think Burton has nowhere to go once he's gone. Who wants him? Would you want him? Maybe some Truck team, but his cup career is pretty much buried.

I don't see that happening. Chip moving to Hendrick engines is pretty much a good indicator they are done doing business with RCR (despite the Earnhardt name).

The more I see these moves, the more I think what some people said about JGR "Not wanting to play 2nd fiddle to Hendrick with Chevy" back in 07 were definately on to something. Funny enough though, they appear to now be playing second fiddle to the team everyone loved making fun of for so long: MWR.

I think RCR will be fine with the grandchildren coming soon. I think thats why Harvick is leaving because he knows the grandchildren will get the good stuff

I just relised All this shuffling now leaves only three of NASCAR's Long time Driver-number pairings: Johnson-48, Gordan-24 and Biffle-16

Wow, Harvick to SHR? I myself didn't see that coming but as first mentioned, Stewart is pretty much best buds with Harvick so it does seem reasonable. Harvick also brings plenty of sponsorship with Jimmie Johns and Budweiser (assuming they follow him).

Harvick to the #10?! Then at least SHR would actually have 3 valid drivers!

Yeah but as for RCR, they've definitely had the biggest downfall in the recent years among active teams. Scary.

Nope, not as a replacement but according to the reports, he'll be in a 4th car.

Thats a scary prospect because that would basically mean that SHR is about to become Hendrick Motorsports #2.

They remind me of Williams, one of the best teams in the 80's-90's but haven't been able to match that success since.

Thats a frighteningly accurate description really.

I have to wonder what Burton will do though. Will he be content with stepping down to Trucks or will he just hang up the suit for good and just be at the track for his son?

With Harvick leaving and Bowyer already gone, there might not be any pressure to get Burton out of the 31. If RCR was still a four-car team, with the Dillon boys waiting for a seat to open up, he would definitely be on his way out. We all know Menard's bottomless family-owned sponsor dollars aren't going anywhere, so Paul is safe. But with seats now available for Austin and Ty, why throw out Burton if he can keep bringing CAT and BB&T back to RCR with sponsorship dollars in hand?

Weird. I was under the impression other then CAT, Burton didn't really bring Sponsors and that BB&T (Along with General Mills) were just leftovers from Bowyer.

So in 2014, Richard Childress Racing and Stewart-Haas Racing should look like this?:

RCR:

#27 - Paul Menard
#29 - Kurt Busch
#31 - Jeff Burton
#33 - Austin Dillon

SHR:

#10 - Danica Patrick
#14 - Tony Stewart
#39 - Ryan Newman
#?? - Kevin Harvick

I'm curious why everyone is so hell bent Menard, yes his old man funds alot for RCR but isn't the only team he helps either. Robby Gordon, ThorSport both come to mind! Now Paul is a mid pack driver but why is that so bad? It keeps teams afloat and only a handful will be like the top 10 or so in points give to take. Paul has had decent years in last few. You also have to look at another funding help for RCR which is Tim George Jr who hasn't done much at all with his family owned Applebees.

I never get why people assume everyone in top level motorsports will be top drivers when even as we know in everything there are very few world class drivers, average, then lower class.

I have to agree. Menard does have talent, and is definitely one of the most underrated drivers. If he didn't have talent, how did he win the Brickyard 400 last year?

He did play out a fuel mileage deal but he was running well anyway that day. He doesn't wreck a ton of cars, and finish decent most races.

Notables:

P6 - Kurt Busch
P8 - Regan Smith 👍
P11 - Jeff Gordon
P14 - Brad Keselowski
P24 - Jimmie Johnson

Now if Brad can come our ahead and Kurt maybe pull off a win!

I myself am not implying Menard has no talent (and I don't see a recent post saying that either), I and many others are only saying his sponsorship dollars are gonna keep him in the RCR seat.

I wasn't so much talking about people here but I see him get so much crap because he has backing. I'd like to see how many other guys have rides at all if it weren't for them. People assuming he has no talent but in last few years he has been top 20 or around there which top 20 there are a good amount of talented drivers there.

Fixed by ESPN for yours truly. :sly:

Or if Regan Smith could win after what Phoenix Racing has been through this year.

Dammit, Ty's done. Buescher is gonna just walk with the championship now :grumpy:

Once Kevin moves over to Hass, I believe #29 will become the #3 car again with Austin driving it. And I hope Kevin can keep his number.

Burton is all but done. Kurt will no doubt take over the 31, with Austin taking over both his grandfather's and Dale's old car, changing the number back to 3.
As for Ty, expect him in Cup no sooner than 2015, if we are using Austin's progression through the ranks as a rule for Ty.
Kevin will take the 29 with him to SHR- if not, expect him to drive with some old number he used to run back before he raced in NASCAR (Like Ryan and Danica).

Holy crap, I cannot believe what just happened. Just when I was sure who was gonna win this race and who was gonna walk away with the championship, it changed just like that.

But I thought you guy's said Brian Scott sucked? lol

Winning a Truck race doesn't change his finishes in Nationwide ;)
