I can´t wait till I get to muscle a COT around Nürburgring!

"That would be something!"

I've always wondered how those big cars will do in a track like the Nur and most other classic road tracks around the globe. Spa for one.

It would also be sweet if they include bristol motorspeedway.
Great short track!

As i dont follow the Nascar championship, from what season the cars in video are? Current one (2009)? And about the liveries, some of you said theres different paint jobs for the same car, is it one of those paint jobs the official one? Or does Nascar cars change their paintjobs through the season?

Its a Spec chassis so even one make would do it for me

The fact that they only had to model one chassis and presumably four bodies (even then only parts of bodies) means, contrary to what some of the whiners are saying, they didn't have to spend that much time on modeling, relatively speaking.

Most appear to be from 2008 and 2009. The #14 (Tony Stewart) and #39 (Ryan Newman) are definitely from '09. And yes, many cars will wear about four or five different liveries over the course of a season.

The liveries are from the current season and as far as i know, drivers have different paint schemes for their cars. They have one primary livery but they change for time to time specifically for secondary sponsors.

It looks like 2009 to me.

And sometime sponsors for the different drivers will do a special decal set for a race. If it is a more prestigious race like The Daytona 500 or Coca Cola 600 Or Coke Zero 400 they usually try to go all out with special edition liveries.

Its not four bodies, only one body, just different decals!

Well no it is 4 different bodies, all are similar, but they are all massaged differently to shape the actual car as closely as possible.

What is with all the NASCAR haters? Man I'm glad I'm a motor sports fan so I could go from 24h of the ring, to monaco, to indy 500, to the 600.

Also why wouldnt you put NASCAR into this game? Most popular auto sport in North America and one of the biggest sports in North America. From a marketing stand point why wouldnt you?

Hopefully this will mean a couple more NASCAR tracks as well. Although I will be taking the #39(if they have it) around the world.

Also, to any haters, if you don't want to drive NASCAR don't use them.

+1 And with the economy the way it is, the american auto makers need every boost they have.

YEY for NASCAR!
I was always a huge NASCAR fan and im glad to see Jeff Gordons car! 👍
But now they really need to get the sound right even more.

It is indeed just 6 cars all with different colored alternates. And of those six, they only represent 2 manufacturers (Chevy and Toyota) and three teams (Stewart-Haas, Joe Gibbs, and Hendrick).

I have a feeling the "NASCAR license" may not be a full one, and instead come on a track by track and team by team basis.

If they do add other NASCAR tracks, I have a feeling they're all be ISC-owned circuits (California, Chicagoland, Darlington, Daytona, Homestead-Miami, Kansas, Martinsville, Michigan, Phoenix, Richmond, Route 66, Talladega, and Watkins Glen). California and Homestead-Miami would at least be useful for their infield road courses, and Watkins Glen could be a big bonus.

Precisely! 👍 10% of the people that say NASCAR sucks and shouldn't have been added into the game are probably the same ones that say drifting should be added. Between the two, I will definitely go for NASCAR. I will take NASCAR over drifting any time.

Besides, cars in NASCAR actually look better than those used in drifting. (In my opinion, that is.)

We will have to wait and see. The only thing that concerns me is if its a full license, how much of a delay will it cause in the release of the game

Obviously, Sony could'nt pass up a chance for licensing the series.

I don't think it's a full license, at least for GT5. If you look at one of the screenshots you can see the 55 car in 3 different primary colors(Note: the 55 car rarely has a different scheme).

However I wouldn't be surprised if Sony has the full license and is using GT5 to announce it and will have a different team make a NASCAR game. Either way it will beat the hell out of anything EA put out.

Although i can not say im a big Nascar fan, i sure think its a great addition to the GT franchise. And i bet people who are saying GT5 shouldnt feature Nascar wont loose the chance of driving those cars around the track, be it on oval track or the green hell.
I will drive it a lot for sure and im looking forward to see the cockpit view.

Currently, NASCAR is doing "non-exclusive" licensing. In short, my personal opinion is that they will most likely or already have signed on more drivers, and there cars just weren't present for the trailer. They can easily add drivers in right before the game is set to release. I wouldn't, however, expect too many Oval tracks aside from Daytona, Indy, Motegi, and MAYBE a few special surprises. We'll just have to be patient. All I can say is, I'm absolutely STOKED to see NASCAR in GT.

Either that or they have'nt had time to render all of them yet.

Amen to that last statement.

This could be, chances are they only recently got the license and haven't had much time to render them yet.

Also, I hope they include Bristol or one of the other short tracks. They are what made NASCAR.

With pleasure! Seeing the a sim Ive loved and supported from day one appeal to the lowest form of motor sport there is leaves me no choice.

Vintage Nascar would have been great, but this uninspired mess of clones turning left 95% of the time is to much wasted space, even on a 50gb blue-ray.👎
Grow up man. I'm not a fan of NASCAR in any way, shape or form but I respect what it is. I don't believe it is easy and I see no reason why including yet another form of motorsport into the GT series is a bad thing. It's all about choice and divversity, not every race even in GT1-4 was just right for me, but so what. Some people love driving a stock Fiat 500 round the Ring, other like nothing less than the thrill of an LMP or Group C car at LeSarth and others will prefer a NASCAR at Daytona. There's no one single reason why adding another form of motorsport is a bad thing.
