Thank you I said this from the start when I saw the track list. Why they didn't do Texas or Richmond I'll never know. Those two tracks best portray the sport

👍

This was discussed with my friends months before we got this game. What gets me is; they visited Texas Motor Speedway [Kaz 'n company] to see their first Nascar race! There is even a video about it, at TMS. [http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/news/d5202.html]

We might get lucky, and get TMS in a update. It would make the most sense.

Are NASCARS really supposed to be this fast on corning tracks too? It maybe just me but I have raced against other Super GT drivers with my Gamestop NASCAR and I have beaten them. :scared:

That or the Super GT's speed needs to be fixed.

That still baffles me to this day. They went to Texas, they more than likely collected track data...why else would you even go there? The game's NASCAR portion was already far into development at that point. Are we meant to believe that Kaz simply flew 18-20 hours across the world just to see a race?

Yep I remember seeing that video I thought Texas was a given. Atleast we'd have one 1.5 mile oval but nope. I can understand daytona. It's the great American race. Plus online is good. But Indy?? That one is a head scratcher.

I think Kaz and company went to Texas from the SEMA show.
I was thinking they would be there (Texas race) this year too, with the GT5 GameStop car in that race and all.

Indy is also a very well known track worldwide, with great racing heritage.
That's my guess why they put it in.

Some other NASCAR tracks would be nice.

Ill look and see if I can mod my Joey Logano Nascar later, I'm pretty sure you can't mod anything but the gears.

So what's up man can you tune a nascar or are the tuning options locked like the go karts?
Like I said if we can slow them down daytona will be much better. Slow down the closing rate and get rid of the slam drafting and bring in bump drafting. I'm still trying to level up to buy one

Super GTs are limited to around 500 BHP, and 1100kg, not their problem.

Nascar with 800 BHP is of course going to overtake them significantly on the straights, but if you've got aides on or the track has long straights or the AI is on a low setting, then you gotta turn everything up, try again then.

I've bought my NASCAR ,It's the #83 Toyota for 500k ,I won the NASCAR championship in it and it was fairly easy to drive with soft tyres instead of the standard hards.

Must admit i'm not getting the Nascar so far, but am just doing the special events. Really not liking the "outside line" challenge, does seem to want to stick to that wall. And can anyone tell me the "order" to draft and take the cars in the drafting challenge? Enjoying that more but can only just reach the rear bumper of the first place car by the end. And that blue and white one to the right of you when you start is a pain in the butt throughout.

Sorry.

You can tune gears, but only the final drive ratio, which limits top speed. The suspension is fully adjustable though. I'm about to test it on Daytona now with gears set to a top speed of 211mph, hopefully it won't hit that on its own, but I'm betting it will. If this won't work, ill turn the top spped to something I know it won't run, and hope the gears are too tall, which will limit the speed.

Update:

With the top speed turned up to 298mph, I stayed under 205 on the straights, and in the mid to low 190's in the corners. Averaging a 45.5-45.7. So its not WAY too fast, but those are still times which should only be possible in the draft. The thing is, I bet with the setup in the draft, we will still be seeing speeds upwards of 215. No matter what, were going to go faster than we should, but this is not horrible. They need more drag, or less horsepower really... Anyone want to draft with this add me on PSN and we will set something up.

Update 2:

You can adjust aero, which I didn't notice. With gear limited top speed of 298 and the aero set to maximum, I'm in the mid 190's down the straights, and high 180's in the corners, lapping in the mid to low 47's. So, there is a huge improvement, but we need to check it in the draft. Also, the front end seems pushy now, but I'm on hard tires.

Thanks you so much. I'll add you but I don't have a NASCAR in my garage yet. I got the money I'm still leveling up. This is really really good new. I don't think you can lock the setup but with a few good honest guys we can all run the same gears and get rid of the closing speed, especially the closing speed in the corners The slam drafting in the corners is causing wreaks every race. A good honest race is still a few weeks away as most people are leveling up and spending all the cash on other cars. THANK YOU SO MUCH LSX. We'll patch the NASCAR ourselves. And maybe show some road race guys here what Daytona should be like.

If you like the NASCAR on this game remember that its not done very well. (6/10) Just imagine what a real nascar game is like.

What LSX and I going to try and do is essentially make our own Restrictor plates, since looks like PD gave us to much HP at Daytona. For anyone scratching there head when I say Restrictor plates here ya go.....

I really haven't taken them on a road course yet. NASCAR are subject to alot of wheel hop in the corners. They should feel like a brick in the turns and a bullet on the straights. This is what makes NASCAR drivers have skill the brick bullet theory. Despite what a lot of guys think this combo is a S.O.B. and is really hard to master.

Definately 👍

This lap I did is a good example of how careful you have to be with these cars on road courses:

I noted in my review of the GT5 kiosk demo that you can't ride the curbs as you can with a GT or touring car. I remember watching NASCAR ride the curbs at Infineon/Sears Point in the final corner leading up to the Start/Finish straight. Road racing with stock cars is a tremendous challenge. That's why I love NASCAR road racing. I think you'll agree with me- stock cars sound much more awesome around road course. Listen to the thunderous roar of these stock cars hammer through the gears. They may not be the most proper of road racing cars, but how sweet they sound when in road racing.

I still want to imagine what it will be like when you get to race these stock cars in GT5. There's still a lot of tracks I'd love to race these cars on- Grand Valley, Deep Forest, Laguna Seca, even Monza (which I think would suit stock cars quite well).

@chadwicksracing. I'm glad SCANA and looking forward to racing this season. But there is something else I'd like to ask. Why doesn't Denny Hamlin race in this game? I raced NASCAR multiple times on arcade mode and such but it ends up having everybody exept him, including 2 Jeff Gordon's and 2 Dale Jr.'s.

Just a thought, is there any chance that PD are waiting to find out what the reaction is to NASCAR in GT5 before they do more tracks for it? I wouldn't be surprised to see future DLC containing more NASCAR tracks.

Hi don't know if this has been posted yet but if you are having trouble with the special events for nascar due to the ASM feature stuck on and you have a DFGT wheel you can overide the game setting with the wheel controls after the race has started. So much easier to get gold with the car not losing speed.

Cheers

Well after trying this out I'd have to say the NASCAR mode sucks. The cars drive horrible and sound even worse. You DO NOT hear the transmission over the engine like that while under full throttle. Just not happening.

The physics are just a huge miss. Way too much grip and speed. They drive like an arcade game.

I love the NASCAR feature in GT5. They managed to get it really seriours and curious.

But in my opinion, the physics are a bit too controllable and forgivable. The top speed is way too high in fact of missing restrictor plates and in Daytona, you do not need to brake or even lift the throttle. Just pedal to the medal and that´s it.

A bit harder to control and it would be one of my favorites.

Umm...they run on grippy slicks in real life?

Another fail by PD, you don't get to pick your tire. Goodyear brings one right and one left side compound to each track.

Compared to other racing series', the Sprint Cup series actually runs on a very hard tire, the closest to real in GT5 is the hard racing compound.
