Not what I would call a huge NASCAR fan....in fact I prety much laughed at it in the past......until last night that is!

I was racing online and trying the NASCAR stuff out, prety close racing so enjoytable online, then an American guy came in who was Mr NASCAR Fanboy incarnate......oh dear I thought......But then a strange thing happened, he showed us how to play it properly! I won't bore everyone here with it, but bump drafting to break away from the pack, tyre depreciation and cornering.....It's not about turning left for me anymore LOL

The races culminated in me and a friend pitting early from P4 & 5, then bump drafting till we cleared the pack as they pitted, 2 laps from the end it was race on...... I got a bit lose as my worn tyres over heated but held on in there for the win.

Chere's to UH1H for the lessons, much apreciated!

On the track editor, if you choose just 2 sectors, you can make Pocono, I did, but it`s small, Pocono`s lenght is more than 2 miles, I just can make a 0.5 miles tri-oval.

I have not tried an actual Nascar race yet but I have done the Jeff Gordon driving school and had a heck of a time with the inside corner one. I must have got 13.4 100 times before I finally managed to pull a 13.2 and pass the stupid thing! I really wished I had of had a wheel for this one

The cars need a modded gear. Which means leveling up and slowing the cars down with the gears. The skill level on NASCAR online is so low. No gt guys understand how to drive it. Now they all see how wrong they've all been all this time. Im always up front . So its not just turning left Haha. RACE THE OTHER DRIVERS NOT THE TRACK....

Exactly, if we can just slow em down so they top out around 200 it'll be realistic

Has anyone done a proper NASCAR race yet?
Is there one in the A spec races? Havnt got that far yet as I did all the licences and stuff first.

Completely agree, a lot of people thinks Nascar is just turning left, and when they try it, the FAIL.

I had a blast online with NASCAR a couple nights ago. My room only did a couple races, but I managed to win one. It's an entirely different experience, and I'm glad PD included a taste of it. The speed and proximity to other cars really got my ticker double-timing, which I wasn't expecting at all. I just wish the other drivers would have done a better job staying on the track, there was carnage at the first turn.

Of course I stress that I'm not a huge NASCAR fan, so I don't really know to miss what's not there. I'm more of a winding road, low speed cornering fan most days.

I'm up to the expert races in A spec and there's no NASCAR races so far. I can't see them being in extreme to be honest.

The Aussie V8s should be much better than the Cup cars on the road. The Cup cars, especially the “COT”, is bigger and heavier than the Supercars and have a higher center of gravity. As much as I love all things Nascar from the modified series to the old Busch East and West… The Camping World Truck Series, The Nationwide Series and the Cup Series… the cars just aren’t made to be on a Road or Street course. When they are, it’s more of forced thing that produces good racing because everyone else is fighting the same problems, but put them against something that was built to turn left and right and it’s no contest.
You'd be very surprised actually. MidWeek Motorsport did a comparo from all the major racing series in the world, the V8 Supercar was only marginally quicker around a 'circuit' than a Stockcar was.

I think the Nascar game is like that daytona game at the arcades lol. You can drift all the way across the turns. Also i thought super speedways only let nascars go just over 190 mph. i was drafting up to like 220. and the inside of the car sounds awful. not like nascar at all. just my opinion

Has anyone bought a nascar yet? If so can you mod the gears like the other cars? We need to slow them down and work on the handling to see if we can get them more like a stock car. There to touchy. Those quick movements are causing wreak. And the speed is causing SLAM DRAFTING not BUMP DRAFTING. I really think if I can tinker with the setup I can dail in a good setting for better racing

If anyone wants to add me I'm thal30. I'm a clean racer. Show me the nose of ur car and ill let you go. I'll be trying to balance the nascar on this game till Feb when nascarthegame comes out.

Thal, I have a question for you...

In your experience so far online, do NASCAR's tend to race in packs like they usually do at Daytona? Or do the increased speeds cause the field to spread out?

How about offline? Do the AI race in packs at Daytona? Because as long as that happens I won't be too bent up about the lack of restrictor plates.

The NASCAR Cars are lulzy to say the least. Well done PD for not including a restrictor plate. Because NASCAR cars really do 230 at Daytona now?

Actually rusty wallace ran on talladega without a restrictor plate with an average of 212 and runing near 230 on the straight having to lift for the turns. So 230 in draft isnt that far off.

To be honest the skill level is so low that most people wreak on the first lap. And it gets spread out. I've only been able to race with the stock car they give you. I need to level up and buy one. Then see if i can mod it.

Ill look and see if I can mod my Joey Logano Nascar later, I'm pretty sure you can't mod anything but the gears.

Thats all it needs. Gotta slow um down. Then we'd have to get guys together that wanna run a gear rule. It would make for much better racing and slower closing speed. Thats why were getting the slam drafting

Are you also going to mandate rear tire pressure, spring rate and shocks?

idk i find nascar very boring... I was messing around in the special chalenges and i didnt like it at all.. Its one of the things i will not do in this game...

Race online. It's not about the track. It's about racing other drivers

While I haven't actually done it yet, I can very much see NASCAR races as very entertain for online racing as it's going to come down to driver skill and timing due to how similar all the cars are.

And I'm not a NASCAR fan in the least. :)

Driver vs Driver. Put aside all the notions you have against the sport. Can you take this next left hand turn harder and faster then me. Can you push your car to the edge while saving your tires and manage to pass me. You must also be good at the tracks though. Thats where saving your tires comes in. Being smooth and fast. Sure you can man handle the car around the track, sliding the back end. But at the end of the run your gonna be junk. When your up front in a race 1-7th then things get spread out and its more about racing the track.

I was never into it until i played NR2003, then wow, PROPERLY implemented and portrayed NASCAR is a very deep racing discipline with alot of history and its own vibe and rules, and frankly Indy and Daytona dont cut it, speed does not equal excitement, on the contrary i find in NASCAR the trickier ovals and road courses are the medium speed ones like Bristol and Phoenix, also Infineon(r.i.p.).

In GT AFAIK theres no spotter, theres no Yellow Line rule where if you cross that yellow line on the inside you get penalties. Theres no pace car and flag rules...AFAIK, havent seen the 3rd tier NASCAR challenges yet, and to my knowledge thers no specific NASCAR events in the Event Halls, (as far as beginner amateur pro...)

Try going flat out at Bristol youll eat the wall like youll eat your words when you say its easy.

And if you make it past one lap at a decent pace, then try to keep that momentum and conserve tires for another 20 until you pit, and NASCAR has one of the most strategic pit games in all racing, thats why they all go in at the same time barring unforeseen circumstances. Its a mad dash to your crew where you gotta pretty much parallel park a huge 800hp monster in ONE SHOT.

, and frankly Indy and Daytona dont cut it, speed does not equal excitement,

Thank you I said this from the start when I saw the track list. Why they didn't do Texas or Richmond I'll never know. Those two tracks best portray the sport

Yes, NASCAR online is extremely fun, that's why there are still thousands of people that play NR 2003 online.

Really mad that I have to wait til Christmas to get this game. I wanna see these NASCAR cars in action for myself.
Who knows, by then maybe PD will have fixed the game's NASCAR portion.
