I wonder how many can play online. I would assume a 43 car field would be pushing it... maybe 24?

edit: my bad, i didnt see that it says "16 players online" :)

Awesome. I hope they get the sounds right though.

If their previous games are anything to go by... Yes they'll get the sounds right... I always thought the sounds in FC and SCC were pretty good.

Yes, I agree with Blitz187. If their previous games were anything to go by (Ferrari Challenge/Supercar Challenge) Eutechnyx did an excellent job with the physics, weight/balance of the car, the force feedback (probably among the best of any PS3 racing game) and the sounds. If they lacked, it was in the visuals and over-all polish of the games. But going by these screen shots, they've made a massive improvement in this area. And considering FC/SCC were done on a very limited budget, I'm expecting a big step up from them with this game.

I know Dave from Eutechnyx visited the US multiple times this year and attended a lot of NASCAR races. They may be outsiders but they've been putting a massive effort into the development of this game. I think they realize the kind of expectations die hard NASCAR sim racers will have.

They could always wander by PD and see if they can get some NASCAR models from them... :P

16 cars is what there saying. I think a 43 car field would require us all to pay 15 bucks a month for servers. The more players the more lag creeps into the picture. And we all know lag destroys a good game.

Wonder by there site. Its done really well. Two days ago it was junk. They have since revamped. And get this, the game developers talk in the forum. One post read something like this.. someone saw a glitch in one of the pictures. The 17 's hood was all scratched up but not much damage else where on the car. about the game. A developer posted a few mins later explaining that there all just rough in pictures and that they are polishing the game as we speak.

Hey
haha no its not me , hes the designer, im just a Vehicle artist ;)

I can tell you that this game is gonna be best game Eutechnyx has made, imo

Its really gonna put the company on the map and the long wait to be on gametrailers is now over haha :D

They could always wander by PD and see if they can get some NASCAR models from them... :P

Tbh mate our modles are acutally better, also you wont see as much details in the interior as you do in our game ;)
but this is just my opinion ,
im a huge GT5 fan, but i thought the interiors in their Nascar¨s where a bit lacking in details.

Actually, GT5's models are a tad incorrect compared with the NTG11 ones, first thing being the quarterpanels are too high up. The schemes have improved from the E3 2009 trailer, but they still aren't quite spot on. (And I would know, as I paint these kind of things for NR2003/N09 all the time :P)

From what I've seen, the schemes in NTG11 are fairly spot on with higher resolution/less compressed textures, which is very nice, one big thing is Eutechnyx actually got Jeff Gordon's flames right, that's a big deal for me! Usually games have the same version of the flames you see on the diecast, where the space inbetween the first and second "tounges" are incorrect, doesn't look like that here!

Also, just incase you guys want to keep track of the news easier, I'll be maintaining a news portal with Dave's tweets, the NASCAR 2011 website RSS and an RSS feed from MRG with the latest news. And some galleries with renders and screenshots!

This way you can keep track of what's going on, and should any other sources pop up, I'll be tweaking the page to include that and work better.

Dave Thompson's (formerly known as ferraripro in gtplanet) excellent interview. Worth a read:

I'm slightly worried with the "rewind" feature. I hope it can be shut down or at least be made unavailable in the harder offline career mode, or else bragging rights are stuffed and online will be the only real measure of one's ability.

EDIT: Please note I have nothing against this feature (even got some bashing because I defended it in GT5 discussions) because I think it can be a very useful learning tool. However, it has to be implemented in a way that in order to really "beat the game" you cannot use it. My view, of course.

Here's hoping, like someone else has mentioned, that Eutechnyx does well with sound reproduction. I asked for a developer response to this question yesterday in their forums and was told they'd have an announcement that would shed some light on it in the near future. Sound isn't my #1 thing in a racing game. But, with graphics having reached the levels we see today, I expect a huge improvement over the sound from NASCAR 09.

Please no rewind feature. This isn't Prince of Persia. Nor the dirt games. A racing mistake is what it is. It makes it more intense. If I go to fast into turn 3 drift up and hit the wall thats my mistake.

Remember, you don't have to press the button.

And..... if you are looking for an 'intense' race, then you should be on the hardest difficulty where there shouldn't even be a rewind feature.

Yeah I imagine there won't be any rewind once you play on a hard enough difficulty, and if there is just don't press the button,

Well I know they couldn't do it online. It's not possible. For the same reason why I can disprove Back To The Future 1,2 & 3. I just dislike the time travel idea in a sim game. It starts to get "arcade" and that word is dangerous when you want realistic racing.

And yea I know I'll be racing on veteran level. And it won't probably be on there. I guess they're putting it in there to stop people from hitting the reset button and reracing an event. I know were all guilty of that one. 2 laps to go, girlfriend starts nagging about leaving for dinner. You look at her.... and hit the wall 1st to 43rd, oops...... rewind.

Ok maybe its not a bad idea :-),

It's a great idea for practicing corner entry too, you can look over the video and see what you're doing wrong and try again, in a practice session atleast. It was also explained as letting users instantly replay a nice pass or awesome wreck, and the full fledged replay editor allows users to cut and make their own highlight reels from the race, it's a pretty cool feature.

Chris.

I think they are planning on having more random stuff happen. Blown tires, AI causing the big one, AI wreaking each other right in front of you. If so then its there so you don't throw your controller across the room(don't do this btw ps3 controllers break very easy). Well Sunday on Raceday (SPEED) at 10 we should get some game play footage. Tune in.

Yeah, especially with debris, it'll be more like NASCAR 06, where the other drivers wrecking could actually affect you if you weren't careful during a wreck situation.

Chris.

LOL @ what sounds like real life experiences

The rewind feature is a great selling point (literally) for the casual fan. On the one hand, Eutechnyx is attempting to appeal to us nerds - the players who can tell you which teams were left out of the NASCAR '05 PS3 release. On the other hand, Eutechnyx needs to appeal to the largest possible audience and that includes folks who just want to play occasionally and not be penalized because they haven't mastered control of their car at every turn (all four of them).

I don't care whether the feature is in the game or not. I won't use it. But, little Timmy next door who doesn't have the patience of my 41 years might need it.

LOL...which BIG name driver was left out of NASCAR 08?

Carl Edwards? Since his license was exclusively with another company?

From,
Chris.

Carl was in NASCAR 09.

It was the only version I'm aware of to include all main drivers for the Cup series, although I think it had the lowest number of real truck/nationwide drivers.

Yep, he was under license was with some hand held generic racing game...

I believe you are correct with the CWTS and NWS drivers...I still have NASCAR 08 in the china cabinet, but it pains me to play it...

They used a rototest dyno so the game should have much more realistic sound than FC and SCC 👍

The sound will be much better when they air it shorly in Speed in HD. Flash is an eeeeevil vile thing for millions of iPhone users!
