Nascar type cars.

It has the largest in the US, I think F1 has the largest in the world. It's stupidly popular though, I guess a lot of it's down to the atmosphere of the races, the people that know the sport can get into that and aprreciate it more because of it. I find it boring if I watch more than 5 laps.

whats it mean?^

rather than nascar, why dont they update some of the other races. like the DTM. in gt4 there were 2 recent cars, the audi's. i'd rather have all the DTM cars, and some BTCC

and quite possibly silverstone or donnington park :)

National Association of Stock Car Auto Racing

Frankly I think (and have thought) it should be NASCar
North American Sports Car

Oh well. But if they're sticking with their original NASCAR meaning, they should be required to pick up a car from a dealership when they get to town, and race that *****! (:

Edit: What is the most popular Racing sport in America? NASCAR!!
And so is American football but just about everyone else thinks it is crap. And yet SuperBowl winners are called world Champions

North American Stock Car Association Racing? I 'm pretty sure the last 2 word are wrong. [EDIT] Definetley wrong, not bad for a European :D

Oh and my dad always tries to watch the NASCAR Busch series when it comes on over here but gets bored pretty quickly.

it stands for national association for stock car auto racing.

its also the largest spectator sport in america, i happen to be a fan .

Care to explain to us what you find so interesting about NASCAR?

NASCAR Stock Cars in Gran Turismo... let me think about that... hell f:censored:in' no! Not even to race Test Course and Twin Ring Motegi Super Speedway. Even with about maybe 20 to a track, I personally won't race them in the next GT. Another complaint that would come is that some people would think PD can't come up with the distinctive stock car roar. And for most of us Americans who watch Speed Channel hoping for something other than some form of stock car oval racing, many of us know that sound pretty well. I'll race an Australian V8, but I wouldn't want a "stock" car in my virtual garage. If I wanted a "stock" car, I'd just race a car in stock form and not have to worry about a family sedan with a 700+ hp with no functional lights and doors, or an adjustable lip spoiler (or however it's described).

Having said this, to put it loosely, if you can road race a stock car around a tough road course, you can race anything. Jeff Gordon is my boy on road courses, though he's not having a good season right now. Maybe my disapproval of NASCAR stock cars in the game stretches into seeing these in GT games. I didn't really like the Racing Mod for the Ford Taurus in GT2 (though interesting), but if I wanted a pure NASCAR machine, I'd probably build up a past NASCAR race car. Maybe something from the old days. Either that, or I'd stay away from any sort of oval racing machine.

my words exactly.....for the truck race in GT4 i got the toyota and slaughtered all the american trucks and sold it and the prize car...er....truck....right after that series was done.....i hate trucks.....

anyway, i think that GT5 should stick to either 'real' stock-car racing (the Aussie V8's and such) and GT/Prototype races and stay away from ovals as much as possible.....cand stand turning left.....

my family has been a part of nascar for almost 50 years. i have connections @ Dale Earnhardt Inc. and Everenham Motorsports. One driver who use to drive for my grandfather has more overall nascar titles than any driver in history

NASCAR isn't restricted to ovals!!!!! I listed THREE tracks they race on that are road courses. Yes they drive a lot of ovals, but not even two ovals are the same.

So for you it's a family thing? Do you find it entertaining? If you were just Joe Schmoe would you continue watching it? Do you go to events?

Can you tell us why NASCAR is the most popular sport in the United States?

Found another one, Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is also a road course. So they're coming along nicely.
That's the one I was trying to think of but I couldn't remeber the name it was run by the Busch Series this year and had a very good turn out. And as for saying that Nascar races jus have passing, pit stops, and accidents then what the he** does other series have cuz if they don't that they would the most boreing thing to wtach on the planet.

intersting that the track is named after the Rodriguez brothers who both drove for Ferrari in F1 before they were killed in separate accedents......NASCAR on a track named for Formula One drivers? what is this world coming to? :scared:

correct me if im wrong, but wasnt Ricardo killed on the banked turn when his car flipped?

Interesting that it was built for Formula 1.

Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez
Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez is a 2.518-mile road course located approximately 15 minutes from the center of Mexico City. The original Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track was built in 1963 for Formula One events. That circuit raced at the facility from 1963 to 1970, and then returned to race there from 1986 through 1992. Racing has a rich tradition in Mexico. CART first raced at the facility in 2002. The three-day total attendance for the trackýs 2003 CART event was an astounding 402,413, with a crowd of 221,011 on race day. In June 1950, NASCAR Founder Bill France Sr. teamed with Curtis Turner to drive in the first Mexican Road Race. The 2,178 mile race was run from El Paso, Texas, across Mexico to Guatemala. Others participating in the event from the world of NASCAR included Bob and Fonty Flock, Raymond Parks and Red Byron.

i go to some races, i will admit some races are boring, but there are other divisions in nascar that are more exciting. half the fun of going to races is watching the people

Sounds like baseball - the game is usually kind of "meh", but hanging out with a bunch of people, eating hot dogs and drinking drinks ... hollaring at the players occationally. It's more about the social experience than the actual event.

Do you regularly watch NASCAR on TV? What is your favorite circuit? Do you prefer high speed oval track racing or the road courses?

another thing is that a large number of the drivers in NASCAR dont even drive the road corses, they have a second driver do it for them and the cars still handle like bricks on wheels.......

ive seen (and sat in) various types of race cars (DTM, NASCAR, and Formula Renault are the ones ive sat in) and of the 3 NASCAR cars ive seen upclose (all different teams) they looked exactly the same while the DTM cars are all different.....yes, the formula renaults are all the same cars, but thats what the series is-it boils down to the driver (and its all road courses).....

i hate arguing, but i just dont see what intrest the rest of the world would have in being forced to do a NASCAR series or ovals and one or two road courses in cars that handle like a brick in order to finish GT5.....

this is most retarded thing lol..why nascar..? pointless...if u want nascar go play some nascar game that out there...casue there is no way PD is gonna put Nascar in the series...besies all nascar do is run around in cricles for 500laps..u know how damn boring and dumb it is..sigh..

I can't believe you said that. :grumpy: Baseball gets bad rap as very boring sport, it is nowhere near as boring as cars racing in circles. There's a lot going on, on both defensive and offensive end.

I get the feeling that a lot of the people who don't want these cars in the game are the same ones that rage against all the small, unsporty cars in the game.
I don't care if they handle like crap, I want to see how good or bad they are myself, how they stack up against cars from other race series. We're never going to see F1 vs. Champ car, or NASCAR vs. DTM or JGTC in real life, that's why they all should be included in GT.

WOW, so if the cars going in circles is boring and dumb, then I guess F1, Indy, Cart and any others would be dumb too if they did that.

Ever heard of Bristol? Yeah, before you say that is boring driving around that course, you better watch the race.

Over 30 cars on that track equals disaster.
There's alot of skill in Nascar racing.

And its not always circles.
Don't come in here saying you know all about Nascar and saying it boring because they just go in circles.

$20 says those who say the racing in circles are boring probably don't know they contradict themselves when they watch F1 @ Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

I'm sure my credibility is all but shattered on this matter since I'm from the U.S. but I too would like nascars in GT. as well as other types of race cars. they have JGTC cars, lemans cars, and formula cars allready, now how about some cars from the varying classes of SCCA racing, if any are popular enough. How about some pikes peak cars or other dirt track cars. And trucks!

"we dont want any oval track cars in GT"

thats the stupidest thing I'v ever heard. I can only think of one type of race car that is designed in such a manner that they're structures are optimised to take advantage of the fact that they only have to turn left. (those little dirt track midgit cars) other than that it's just suspension setting changes. and nascars run on road courses allready anyway. to me there just like tube frame muscle cars. I like them. Just not the sport.

I know!
And who says you have to drive the Nascars on ovals? Why not try your luck and drive one on the 'Ring or Le Sarthe!

NASCAR has raced some tough road courses in its time. Heartland Park Topeka was perhaps the toughest one before they trucks wussied out of road racing. NASCAR Busch will race at Watkins Glen in August, but have raced Lime Rock Park once. Let's not forget the road race in Mexico earlier this year. The big dogs in Nextel Cup have raced at Sears Point, Watkins Glen, and back in 1996 or so, a promotional race at Suzuka in Japan. Don't count them out as incapable on road courses. I just wouldn't want to race these, like being forced to race them like in a official event in the game. I don't mind stock cars, I just don't really want to have them. That's all.

McLaren F1 GTR, you bring up an interesting point in your most recent post. They wouldn't have to be invited, but imagine all 43 Nextel Cup racers blasting down Hunadieres (or as some call it, the Mulsanne Straight). If then, they'd have to have it as restrictor plate racing. And if it rains and rain is in the next GT, they'll have to get the Wet Tires. Only once have I seen stock cars race in the rain- there was a CASCAR event a few years ago at Mosport, and as the rain came down, the teams pitted for rain tires, and kept on going. Other than that, on an oval, yeah. It's like baseball. When there's rain, the show's delayed. Of course if you want something like gridiron football, try pure road racing with pure road racing cars. Like in gridiron action, as long as there's no thunder or something, you keep playing hard.

Well, enough of my stick and ball sport finish, but carry on if you wish.

Man people think Nascar is so far below F1 adn Indy. It takes alot of skill to push a 3400 lbs. machine at 170 mph around a turn without having push into the wall or get loose and spin. Personally I think F1 and Indy racing are pretty ****ing boreing. Rarely do I see very many of the cars in those races finish the race or even finish on the lead lap. I'm not saying it takes no skill to drive F1 or Indy but I prefer the stock car racing.

Wow, spoken like a true Nascrap fan that doesn't know anything about control. Don't ask the Drifters... they don't really know either.

Guess what Vip!

Over 750,000 people couldn't give a crap if you don't like their sport.
And I'm sure a good 200,000 hate whatever you like.

Most people in the US don't hear about the other types of racing in the other world, and usually, its only Speed who broadcasts it, and many don't want to put out the cash.

So they have Nascar, Drag Racing, CART, and Indy.

Well that's good for you. It's pretty sad all that money wasted on a inferior race when it could be put to so much more good use in something like ALMS to bring back bad ass cars like the McLaren F1 but instead they'd rather dump it into commercials painted on cars that get wrecked and people are fine with that. :dopey:

I'm not even going to comment on bringing back cars like McLaren F1 to ALMS since its pretty obvious why.

And that money is made up by the 750,000 fans who pay to see it.

If they sent the money to ALMS, they're only making Don Panoz richer. That cash would be if he wants to help ALMS, or use it himself.

Plus, the people of Nascar who own the tracks get the money for the races as does the Organizers.

What would be sad is that if you would turn down owning at least 1 of those Nascar tracks.
I sure as hell wouldn't.

Definately agree with that. I usually don't watch NASCAR races but I can see how it can appeal to many people. The only race I've watched this season is last Sunday's race at Infineon because I wanted to see how Ron Fellows (No. 3 /No. 63 Corvette C6R driver) would do. He started at the very back at 43rd position and finished 8th. 👍 I'm looking forward to his next NASCAR road race at Watkins Glen.
