First guy in the room is host, whoever wants to come in, comes in and runs the races. All there is to it. Everyone's just gotta make sure the settings are correct.

Yay! was wondering who was going to run the practice lobby this year. :)

I'm going to be using my TnJF account since it has all the Academy cars.

looks like i missed the cut for national finals on a 2.17.613 but think i ll come racing in case some one falls

Hey Eddie, I would love to join so please add me!! brianm3

I'm really looking forward to running with you guys, do to my heavy race schedule last year I wasn't able to run but only a couple parctice races. See you guys soon!

This is the best period of the year to play GT5. Wardez if you feel it is right to do so, please add my lapierre4 account and let's have fun, everyone!

You'd be sorely missed. It's been a yearly tradition for us to try and chase you down in the Academy prep room. :sly:

Add my "chorda" account Eddie.
I want to help getting the finalists ready! 👍

A question:
Would you guys who are going to race in this pre-national/regional practice races, and are also qualifyed for it like the atmosphere to be clean or nationals-style?

I'm asking you since these races are for you, and I want to help you guys out as much as possible to prepare.
Reason that I ask is that the nationals are known for beeing, if not dirty, at least more rough than we're used to around here at GTP in i.e WRS or PURE.

So if you really want to be prepared, I'll race more aggressively than I do normally around here.. But only if you wish so ofc. 👍

Obviously, I will not ram people if that was'nt clear. Just be more aggressive. Close to the limit of something that might could border to dirty if you feel me..

I wont be racing "nationals" style. Not fun for me unless it's clean. I will only drive like a crazed madman when they force me too.

Valid question. I guess someone should try to find out if this year is gonna have something similar to the year before, with infringement points etc. Personally, I think there should be post-race time penalty for dirty passes, but if the expectation is for the system similar to last year, when some people were strategically 'clean' just to be able to pull off dirty passes when it mattered the most - then the practice should be that way too. I'm fine doing attempting some of those if this is what people think will yield the best practice :mischievous:

It's up to you. Personally, when I'm subjected to an OLR-dirty pass, depending on my alcohol intake I sometimes feel the urge to retaliate. If you are like that, it could prove costly at the Nationals and you should practice taking those passes calmly, expecting them, avoiding major off-track consequences etc ;)

I hear ya. At the same time the main point of this practice (in my view) is to find my lost race pace, learn about the driving styles of everyone, and have a ton of fun before we get into the nitty gritty. I am ready to adjust to whatever others are planning though.

Yeah, I really have no desire to practice my bump and run and dive bomb technique. Plus why would I want to show my cards this early? :sly:

I'm just here to help. I guess the best thing to do it have it clean 99% of the time and maybe do a handful of sessions 'nationals'-style ;)

It is so true. Even though I was completely burned out playing GT5 so much last year, it was a lot of fun. Don't know if I'm on the list since I'm nowhere near my PS3 now, but I'd love to get on this again. If you could add redsoxboy80 I'd be honored to join the fun.

Also I wanted to point out a couple things:
1) Are the nationals going to be using GT5 or a demo of GT6? Significant difference there.
2) If you remember last year the grip reduction settings were set to weak for nationals. I just remember it because we were all like "K, wtf?"

You guys don't need to adjust your driving style.
I was mainly on about what you can expect from some drivers in the nationals.
And I can act as that someone if you lot thinks it adds to the preparation.

I'm 100% fine with racing like I always do ofc.
Just wanted it to be concidered. 👍

I'm here for you guys first and foremost.
That racing is fun is also a reason.. :D

A few words before continuing:

1. My guess is that Finals will be using GT6. From a marketing standpoint, it makes no sense using GT5 when the new game is coming out this year. I suggest logging laps in the time trials and discern the differences. What may work in our races may not if we're in a GT6 environment. I already know my Silverstone race pace is mid to low 18s, which isn't where I want it.

2. If your wheel settings are on the low side, pump them up. It's easier, at least with me, going from strong to weak than the other way around.

3. Encourage distractions such as family or music. At the least, it's a good test of concentration.

This applies to more than just the racing... or else the next week is going to feel like this:

Just to let everyone know, I'm currently away from home and while I have access to GT5 and a DFGT, I can't use the GT Academy cars. :irked:

Come to think of it, I can't use them anyway since they're on my original account (gm-matthew-41). I'll use my GTP account for now, but it would be great if my original account could also be added so I can use the cars when I get back :)

Hey wardez great of you to do this. Could you or anyone else that may be attending these please add dayofwar2009. Also is it possible to put the academy cars on share so they can be borrow glitched?

You can prepare with muting your tv lol. At finals last year you couldnt hear your car at all.

Only if you are deaf. All the rigs were set to the same volume level and they could not be turned up or down. Some had problems drowning out the surrounding noise of the 7 other rigs. I found it to be fine. And yes, no headphones.
