Wasn't really good at any of the tests they gave us, missed out in the A final by 1 tenth, B final I messed up my Q lap and started 5th which is where I finished as the race was 2 laps of Laguna in a GTR. So that gave me 11th overall for that.

Fitness I just couldn't compete with the rest and the bleep test was probably the worst I've ever done. Driving was in a Nissan Juke around cones which I hated, couldn't get used to the steering which made it hard to avoid the cones.

And media I think is the only thing I would have done well in, but that probably didn't count for much.

So basically a 🤬 two days for me and will have to go back to trying to find sponsorship from somewhere.

Eurgh, would hate that too, imo how good you are at driving round cones doesn't count for much in a racing environment.

Congratulations to all of the top six, particularly Adam Suswillo who was superb in pretty much everything. 👍

I ended up 11th, mainly due to being completely hopeless at the fitness tests, coming last at the plank and bleep test and second to last at press-ups. I'll definitely need to get fitter for next year.

By the way, my surname is spelled "Daniels", just a little correction ;)

I didn't cope too badly in the Juke, the worst part was the slalom where you had to turn the wheel back and forth really fast and you couldn't just keep your hands on the wheel. Tough indeed.

Did everyone do the fitness test or was it the 18 who made it to the second day? What is a good time on plank and how many press-ups is good to do? And my last question; what is good a good score on the beep test?

Edit: I haven't exercise the last 3 months so I wonder how tough it will be for me.

Top 12 on day two after a little more online went on to so fitness. Good time for the plank at the UK finals was 5 minutes when they stopped us, first person out was at 2m 30s, press ups I would say close to 40 without resting. Bleep test I would say about level 10 was good, which was my aim but I only got to 6 for some reason.

WOW, all of you must be very fit then! 5 minutes plank is very impressive. I can do 40 pressups though and around level 8 on the beep test (really pushing maybe lvl 9 or low 10). Plank maybe 1.5-2 minutes.

A bleep/beep test involves running back and forth between two lines 20 metres apart. There are beeps at various intervals; you must make it to the other side before the beep sounds. As the test progresses, the time intervals become shorter and shorter, so you have to run faster in order to keep up.

The longer you can keep up, the higher your level. I only managed level 5, while the average competitor was around level 8. John (BanditKarter-22) made it to level 12 IIRC, the best out of all of us.

Congrats to everyone that made it to the finals in Britain. Well done!

Btw i opened a lounge if anybody is playing join up.

Do you know what are the time intervals through levels 1-10?

You can find a full table on Wikipedia here. Level 1 starts at 9 seconds; level 10 is 5.54 seconds.
Yep, don't know how much though, whether it was equal with the driving, media and online stuff.

I think the gaming and driving count for more points than the fitness and media tests. I could be wrong though.

Yeah, anyone that's been to basketball practice should be familiar with running "suicides". Last year's academy TV show was the first time I'd ever seen it with the beeps.

Oh yeah, I remember getting killed with suicides in high school every time we missed a few shots or joked about, and if you didn't make it back in 10 seconds everyone had to do it again, and again. We did planks as well (well we started a push up and when we got half way down we had to stay there till the coach felt we'd had enough)

The difference though is in suicides you sprint as fast as you can, there's no intervals :) but its pretty good exercise. I might start practicing them again

Well, in the MSF I think you ignore the interval. Just run suicide sprints but in the early stages you get a rest between runs. (kind of like waiting for the last kid to cross the line before the coach blows the whistle again).

Yeah that would be my plan, that way I don't confuse myself with the beeps by the way, theres probably an app for beep tests if anyone wants to train or you could just do suicides and find an angry coach to scare you along the way :sly:

I was hoping to find this, because I've seen a few of the names floating around GTP that I've heard a lot about and was rooting for them. Actually really shocked by Spurgy's exit, because a lot of guys that I run with rate him highly... and I just remember trying to follow his ghost and being hopelessly behind. Was only 1771st, so it's hardly surprising. :scared:

Good to see Tidgny there, I browsed his YT channel a while ago, and was liking his walkthroughs. 👍

The thing I always said I'd relish if I was ever good enough for this would have been the physical tests at Race Camp. I don't know why, but Level 8 seems a bit low to me for some reason. I shouldn't really say that, it's been ages since I did the beep test, so I'm sorry if it offends anyone.
