Thanks for the updates Wardez.

I wish there was some sort of stream or commentary!
Tomorrow :D

I'll be trying to keep live Tweeting on the @GTPlanetNews Twitter rather than my own, so if you already follow us you won't need to do anything special to keep up to dateish.

Edit: Though I'm having a little trouble logging into it on my phone

Edited edit: All good. I'll do my best, but there may be fallow spells while they pit the word-herders off against each other, Hunger Games style.

End of day 1, wow what a day.

Insane speed from Adam so far, the top 6 places are going to be fought down to the wire. Not only were the three rounds today time trials, the first round tomorrow is too. As you can imagine, certain track and car combinations are suiting different racers. I think it's a solid way of doing the competition personally, no mad races just yet, except a fun race held at the end.

Racing tires only so far, no sports tires are in sight at the UK final. The event has been run brilliantly so far, and I think the big names from online qualification have not disappointed, yet.

I can confirm Bandit and I have met and we are getting on well, great speed shown from him in the time trials so far. Good luck to all UK finalists tomorrow!

Hi guys, had a great first day :)

Pleasantly surprised to have done so well today, we'll see how well I can do on day two. If I get to the last twelve, I'm probably going to struggle on the fitness test as I only started training a few weeks ago, whereas guys like Tidgney have been training for months. Still, we shall see.

We also had a bonus race just for fun: R35 GT-R Touring Car, Spa. Each group of six races each other over 2 laps, winner of each plus the fastest 2nd place driver compete in the final alongside Jann. I actually managed to win my group, most likely since Tidgney was taken out pretty early. Sadly I came last in the final race, which was won by Adam. Oh well.

Can't wait until tomorrow :D

This sounds so awesome! Wish you all luck!

And i am begging, can anyone send me a 370z gt academy 08 car? I would really appreciate it so much!!!

My psn is : ghoztmazta

Please, and all have fun!

Great job Matthew. 👍

...which was won by Adam...

I predict we'll hear that quite a bit.

yeah, i'm hopping on now... just finished dinner.
I'm beat and sun-burned from auto-x yesterday, but the show must go on.

Haven't tried it in GT6.

I just need to get used to it. The 1080 degrees instead of 900 means it needs to be turned a little bit more to get the same rotation out of the car.

Also the fixed paddles had me baffled for a bit. Depending on the combo, I was sometimes caught out fumbling for the shifters. Shifting while turning was difficult for me.

The FFB is also very strong and correcting large slides is a little more difficult.

The pedals are very similar to the G27, so no issue there. In fact, I found it easier to modulate the brakes with this setup.

I'm mostly glad I have two weeks to figured it out :)

Lots of good shots were posted from the UK TF on GTA's Flickr account:

Here's an update from Tidgney, he's doing great, on to phase 2:

Don't quite understand the format, are those top 6 going onto their own stage or something? And then there's a loser bracket?

Famine explained it:

So those 6 are off to Silverstone, I figure ? Thats pretty awesome, It seems they are doing mostly Time Trials, maybe they read Tidgneys concerns about races :)

Nah, not yet I don't think. I think it's that something like 9 or 10 guys are allowed into Phase 2, 6 are safe, and six more have to race in a loser competition in order to get the last 3 or 4 spots.

Ahh okay, apparently they are raing the r35, sweet car. Was Suzuka racing hards as well, from the times it seems so

Yeah, R35 TC, awesome! They're really using all kinds of things. Real interesting...

Actually, it was 6 safe, 12 in the loser bracket, which raced for the last 6 spots to go into the second phase, or B-final, as described by Famine in the GTPlanet News Twitter, nice work man 👍:

and btw, GT6 is there, but seems like it's the same E3 demo build, looking forward to hearing more about that from Famine.
