Yeah rumor has it that the 'Cats up in Charlotte will take up that Hornets name if the New Orleans organization follows through.

Though I must say Pelicans is rather uninspiring for a NBA team. How about the Alligators or something related in that category? I know University of Florida is associated with anything gator, but they can go stuff it.

The state of Louisiana has far more gators than Florida I think.

Pelicans? Interesting... Why not Charlotte take back the "Hornets" namesake and go back to the old school Hornets colors? It would surely be nostalgic and cool if Charlotte brings back the Hornets of old. Nothing wrong with old school cool, you know!

Utah just needs to drop Jazz, give it back to New Orleans, and come up with something new. Problem solved. However, since that is not likely to happen, knowing the reasoning behind Pelicans, that is not a bad choice.

Yeah, I see where Brett's coming from on the Jazz name, and I agree, it would be wonderful for the New Orleans, but I think the "Jazz" name is very much a fixture for the State of Utah at this point, kind of like with the L.A. Lakers.

Pelican's not a cool name, but don't they make excellent ABS plastic cases or something? I'm all for Hornets name going back to Charlotte. At least their name won't suck anymore.

Here is how it happened... WE WON 107-105! The were down by as many as 17 points as we had an absolutely laughable first half. The bench for the Rockets basically saved our backsides. It would have been (to use racing expressions) a flag-to-flag victory for the Lakers until the Rockets finally woke up and finally took the lead in the fourth quarter. The boys in red made it first to 100 points. Afterwards, the Rockets went from a sure loss to a come-from-behind victory. The Rockets put on their big boy pants and soiled the Lakers' diapers with a loss. Moral of this story... NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER GIVE UP!

Up next is a back-to-back where the Rockets don't have to leave the great state of Texas. We're at the San Antonio Spurs on Friday followed by returning home on Saturday to host the Dallas Mavericks. These games are crucial division-wise. Wins in these games will help the Rockets in the Southwest Division.

Congratulations to all other winners up to and beyond the time of this post.

[UPDATE] BIG win for the Wizards as they took down Miami 105-101 in Washington, D.C. This is only the second win for Washington so far this season.

While I'm sick of the Lakers, it could be a history-making night if Kobe Bryant gets 13 points tonight. He only needs 13 points to reach 30K points in an NBA career. He will also be the youngest to do so if successful tonight.

Plenty of games tonight. Enjoy your hoops. That even includes DAL at LAC later tonight.

He needed 13, and finished with 29. Kobe Bryant makes history by being the fifth player to 30K points- as well as being the youngest to do so- as the Lakers took down the soon-to-be Pelicans(?) 103-87 at New Orleans. My congratulations go out to Kobe Bryant on his amazing career. You still suck, but you're one of the best of all-time.

Elsewhere...

* Charlotte couldn't contain the Knicks, as the Bobcats fell at home 100-98 to New York.

* The Pacers buried the Portland Trail Blazers in Indianapolis. It was a 99-92 victory for Indiana.

* The Celtics won at home by ten as Boston won 104-94 over the Timberwolves of Minnesota.

* It was 104-97 as the Detroit Pistons didn't have enough to motor past the Golden State Warriors in MoTown.

* Denver was treated to a 108-104 defeat in Atlanta to the Atlanta Hawks.

* It was the Running of the Bulls in Cleveland as Chicago won 95-85 over the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road.

* San Antonio slapped around the Milwaukee Bucks tonight. 110-99 was the score in the Spurs' easy home win.

* The Orlando Magic ran out tricks trying to tame the Utah Jazz. Utah wins 87-81 at home over Orlando.

Congratulations to the eventual winners of Toronto at Sacramento and Dallas at Los Angeles Clippers.

Well I can safely say I'm bewildered, I almost wonder if the Raptors are purposely remaining in the bottom 3 of the league so they can keep their first round draft pick (traded away as a protected top 3 pick for Lowry) and get a really good player out of it THEN go for a play-offs run. The only team worse right now is the Wizards, who've played less games and are actually the same number of games behind. Such a shame, the Raptors had fans looking on the bright side before the season started with a much improved roster. Oh and seriously, they need to start Ed Davis over Bargnani, Bargnani is broken this season and Ed Davis is grabbing double digit rebounds in 20mins of work rather consistently and is among the most efficient scorers on the team.
I'm quite surprised with the Hornets being last in the West, I guess injuries are getting the best of them, particularly Eric Gordon.

In other basically un-related news, I bought a Hardwood Classics Vince Carter Raptors retro jersey today.

Edit: Get this, Bargnani is a woeful 39.5% from the field through 19 games so far and has 4.4rpg for 34mins of work. Ed Davis is 56.6% from the field and averages 5.7rpg for 15mins of work. Andrea is still the starter?! We've got a full Boozer/Gibson situation going on here, something sumbrowkid can relate to I'm sure.

Thursday nights in the NBA are like Monday nights in the NFL. Here is tonight's doubleheader on TNT:

* New York Knicks at Miami Heat
* Dallas Mavericks at Phoenix Suns

Enjoy some NBA hoops tonight.

Heat by 15. Dallas or Phoenix is a toss up.

Gonna need a 30 point run in 3 minutes if Miami will even win by 10. New York up by 21 in the 4th.

Final Score:
New York 112 Miami 92. Two times, two blowouts by New York.

Heat got iced. The score was 112-92 in favor of the visiting New York Knicks. Phoenix saw Dallas escape with a 97-94 victory on the road at the Suns.

Enjoy tonight's games.

Looks like the Knicks are pulling what the Bulls did the Heat two years ago: Bamboozle them the regular season.

However post-season Miami is a very different beast...

Edit: Joakim Noah 30 points 23 rebounds!

Houston. Dallas. San Antonio. Only the NBA offers this Texas Triangle as far as pro sports is concerned. In most of the other sports, it's usually Houston vs. Dallas for Texas pride.

My Rockets took on a back-to-back involving the NBA's Texas Triangle. The back-to-back began with an away game at the San Antonio Spurs. We failed in San Antonio Friday night 114-92. Sixth-straight loss on the road and sixth straight loss at San Antonio. The other half of the back-to-back was home vs. Dallas. Trailing by as many as 19, James Harden accounted for 30 points IN THE FIRST HALF as the Rockets led 66-63 after 24 minutes. Afterwards, we are once again the doormat of Texas NBA teams as we lost 116-109. O.J. Mayo was the big name for the Mavericks. Harden ended up with about 39 points.

Four-game homestand starts with our six-game home winning streak snapped. Up next... vs. San Antonio on Monday night. I'll care more about the Texans at Patriots game since CSN Houston still isn't part of the Dish channel lineup, and since the Spurs and Mavericks are much more talented than my Rockets.

Was it win or fail for your boys tonight?

Looks like Bellineli found the rim finally against the Knicks. Even though the Knicks were without Melo, the Bulls were without Hinrich (elbow) and Taj (ejected).

That ref that ejected Taj needs to get socked in the face.

Raptors have hit rock bottom and changes need to be made. Lucky for a6m5 we play the Blazers tomorrow, a guaranteed win for Portland.

Let's try it again. Houston's homestand continues after failing to keep down Dallas on this past Saturday night. Houston hosts San Antonio in a potential revenge bid after the big time fail at San Antonio on Friday night. Speaking of the Spurs, Stephen Jackson's wallet is now $25K lighter for threatening Serge Ibaka in Twitter comments.

That's all. Have a great Monday night of NBA basketball.

Did you see his tweet? The most unprofessional and thugish tweet out there.

In fact, I think the apology tweet was written by the Spurs themselves knowing his grammar skills.

I read it just now. Wow. Someone 34 years old shouldn't be using that kind of grammar and that sort of behavior. Yeah, I know it's Twitter, but even I know better than to talk about somebody like that. I type in full English and with proper grammar most of the time on Twitter anyways.

Here's an article I picked up on Yahoo! Sports featuring the offensive Tweet sent by Mr. Stephen Jackson:

How do you all respond to this?

I'd publicly reprimand Jackson if I was management at San Antonio, and voice agreement with the fine doled out by the league. I know freedom of speech is important, but so too is professionalism.

Not to take anything away from a6m5's Blazers, but they were the Wizard's first team to fall to them this season. But, so was Miami apparently. :odd:

I love how "dis life" is the new cool thing to say.

That tweet Stephen Jackson made sounds like he's been hanging out with Birdman too much. "Goin in his mouth" ... Thug love.

Raptors are literally giving up mid-late game every game, the whole organisation is in turmoil. At least the Wizards were playing.

What the deal is? Come and get your Tuesday night lovin' of NBA hoops! Tonight's games:

* New York Knicks at Brooklyn Nets
* Los Angeles Lakers at Cleveland Cavaliers
* Denver Nuggets at Detroit Pistons
* Washington Wizards at New Orleans Hornets
* Los Angeles Clippers at Chicago Bulls (the Villain vs. sumbrownkid special!)

And as I predicted, my Rockets failed last night against San Antonio. So my Texans and my Rockets both failed last night, but at least the Rockets shown up in their game, despite losing 134-126 in Overtime.

Enjoy your NBA hoops, and good luck to your team(s) if they are playing tonight.
