Worst 3rd quarter ever. Team rolled over and died after bricking themselves to death.

Yeah, not a good night in Miami. I read Chicago pulled some... what, 39-8 run to rally from 19 points back? That was sad for Heat fans. Any playoff hopes now for MIA may just be... well, M.I.A.

Portland didn't fare so well in Oakland last night. Then too, Golden State does nothing but run over and trip up teams, especially at home. Steph Curry went off for about 45 points in their whacking of Portland.

This is the final weekend of NBA regular season basketball. Keep making that postseason push if your team(s) still have a chance!

I didn't follow the game at all. Spurs won on Wednesday night in a rout. This time here in Houston, it was a much closer game... with my Rockets failing again. This time, San Antonio winning 104-103. I read on Yahoo! Sports that San Antonio kept fouling Josh Smith so James Harden couldn't get the ball. The loss for Houston put San Antonio up into 3rd in the West with the Rockets falling to 6th in the West. See what I mean about stumbling in the West and potentially falling behind? Rockets almost seem content with failing so we can exit from the Playoffs quickly for when the Playoffs start next Saturday. The Rockets are now 53-25.

Our remaining schedule:
* New Orleans (4/12)
* at Charlotte (4/13)
* Utah (4/15)

At best... 56-25. At worst, 53-28.

Congratulations to all other winners from Friday.

I can sum up the game for you @JohnBM01. Despite heavy bias towards the Rockets from the refs (which seems to happen in every Houston game I've seen this season), and some Boston levels or homer commentating, the Spurs somehow pulled out a win, with double digit points contributions from Baynes and Mills much to my delight. :P
Mind you, despite the horrid officiating favouring the Rockets, the NBA once again proved a foul will not be called on a potential game winner. Harden was clearly fouled by Duncan on his game winning attempt.

Edit: Ben Simmons recorded 13pts, 9reb and 9ast in a winning effort for the Nike Hoops Summit game today as well. He had some powerful highlights, and his 9 assists are a Hoops Summit game record.

Edit 2: I've been meaning to ask, just before we hop into playoffs mode, which team/s have your favourite youth movements in their builds for the future at the moment? For me it's between the Bucks, Jazz, Magic and Timberwolves.
The Bucks were definitely on the right track with MCW, Giannis and Jabari Parker, though I feel making the playoffs came too soon for them in a weak East. Unless they make the unlikely success in free agency to bolster their lineup at shooting guard and centre though, they're likely to get worse again before they get better.
I really like what the Magic have, Payton is showing major promise as a defender, floor general and a crafty little offence of his own, Oladipo is practically already a stud, as is Tobias Harris and Vucevic. If Aaron Gordon can turn all his athleticism and desire to shoot 3's into successful basketball they have a great starting lineup, plus they'll get another high pick in this draft.
The Jazz are already playing winning basketball since the All-Star break with one of the league's top defences. The length of Gobert at the rim and Exum on the primary ball handler could develop in to a real pain for opposing teams. Alek Burks, Derrick Favours and Gordon Hayward are all still young as well and are already pretty damn good players. Trey Burke can be a spark plug off the bench. And Rodney Hood has probably been better than most would have expected from a 2nd round pick. The Jazz too will add another lottery pick this off-season.
Then there's the Wolves who I feel have a long way to go and some tough decisions to make. Do they part with Rubio? (I say give him one more season then send him packing if he's still unhealthy or not producing). How/when do they get rid of Martin and Pekovic? Zach Lavine and Andrew Wiggins are great building blocks by the look of it, and Dieng has shown promise as a rim protecting centre. They should be in line for a top 3 selection this draft.

The Houston Rockets served up some 121-114 punishment to the visiting New Orleans Pelicans tonight. James Harden logged 30 points, and Dwight Howard got a double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds). This is the front end of a back-to-back. We play at the Charlotte Hornets for the back end of this back-to-back tomorrow night.

Congratulations to all other Sunday winners, including the Milwaukee Bucks getting themselves a Playoff berth with their win.

@Brett - You know I love Westbrook, but what is up with his tech being rescinded? Have you heard any explanation from the league? I'm just wondering if the tech was issued in error, or this is classic David Stern(I realize he is retired).

Our penultimate game of the 2014-2015 regular season ends in a 100-90 victory for the Houston Rockets at the Charlotte Hornets. This was a successful back-to-back for the Rockets. Our final game of the regular season is on Wednesday at home against the Utah Jazz.

Congratulations to Monday's other winners.

It was a weak tech. Westbrook wanted an explanation on the foul against Luis Scola (Scola sold the contact a bit much) and the referee was mighty quick to give him a T. Russell's reaction to getting the T was worse than what he actually did prior to getting the technical.

Harden could have been called for an offensive just as much with the way he positioned his arms.

@a6m5, I heard Portland lost another player tonight to injury. I have a feeling you guys may be giving the Clippers an * towards their first round win.

Why, Scola would never.

If this was from few nights ago, didn't Timmy block the ball? If he did block the ball, when do contact that occurs after the block ever called for foul?
Edit: For me, the clearest view was @ 25 seconds in.

You go Timmy.

I think the Blazers were 50/50 at best against the Clips, even before Wesley Matthews shutdown for the season. L-Train's been hurting more since, Afflalo hurt his shoulder, Nico Batum hurt his knee tonight, Lillard's defense has been actually worse than before(didn't realize it was possible), so I think the chance of the Blazers winning the state title's pretty good. As long as the Clippers aren't planning on playing in the Oregon high school championship. :P

I feel bad for the Blazers, I'd much rather see them do well over the rest of the West teams that don't have Aussies on them. These injuries are major blows.

Best case scenario, we wouldn't have gotten past the second round, so I don't really see the point in the Blazers competing in the Playoffs, other than like Brett said, just to gain experience. If we were 100% healthy, I think we'd be a competitive team in the first round, maybe in the second round if everything go right for us, including matchups. That's a lot of if's, and while unlikely teams like Dallas have stepped up in the past, we don't have the kind of experience, or depth those teams had. Our bench is so much better than just a year or two ago, but it doesn't begin to compare with the roster from the likes of the LAC, let alone the two best teams in the West. :crazy:

Pretty much EVERYBODY playing tonight as the regular season comes to a close. Games everywhere. Most important about tonight is that there are still some playoff spots to be determined as well as playoff positioning to be determined- especially for the 8th spot in both conferences. For example, my Rockets could place as high as 2nd or as low as 6th in the playoff seeding depending on how we do tonight against Utah and how everybody else does in their games. And for teams not even in the playoff discussion (like Minnesota and New York), this night is basically playing for pride and getting good draft picks.

Heading into tonight... 8th Place is held by Indiana (38-43) in the East, and the 8th Place team in the West is New Orleans (44-37). Will both hang on? Will one or the other make the playoffs in their Conference? Or will neither hold onto their 8th Seed?

People... good luck to all of your team(s) tonight. Enjoy some NBA hoops tonight.

Please tell me that Pop is planning on resting half the Spurs roster tonight? Please? :nervous:
Guy at work was telling me that Spurs would be looking to play to win tonight. I guess they must still be playing for positioning. I think OKC plays Minnesota, so odds are not good for your team. :crazy:

Yeah, read somewhere this morning that the Spurs are going for the #2 seed in the west? :indiff: Looking good after the first quarter though!

Wow. Congrats to the Pelicans. *Go Blazers(2016) & Go Pacers(hopefully).

*If we lose LaMarcus, , maybe 2017.

Indiana WAS in the playoffs, until they lost by 12 to the "something to play for" Memphis, 95-83. Meanwhile, Brooklyn won over Orlando 101-88, to jump over Indiana, becoming the 8th seed in the East, and play Atlanta in the first round.

People like to say the Eastern Conference is weak compared to the West, yet looking at the games & how the season went (the Raptors dominating early, Cleveland in trouble, Hawks out of nowhere, Wizards suddenly losing a lot of steam, Cleveland building a ton of steam, the Celtics who had insane rebuild through their trades, & Miami/Indiana falling out of the Playoffs despite going at it just a year ago for the East Champion), I think it's going to be even more interesting to watch because the Hawks are not a Playoff experienced team like the Nets, & a refreshed Celtics team now faces Cleveland.

Brooklyn is going to win 1 game at most. The team has zero motivation.

The Houston Rockets have long made the playoffs, and where they will be seeded depends on a number of things. First off, we rocked and rolled over the Utah Jazz with a 117-91 victory here in Houston. Dwight Howard was expected to play in this game despite his right knee injury. The Rockets could clinch the Southwest Division with a win and a Spurs loss. Elsewhere in the NBA, the New Orleans Pelicans hosted the boys in black and silver. San Antonio's night in the Big Easy wasn't easy, losing 108-103 to the Pelicans. The third of the Texas teams, the Dallas Mavericks, hosted the Portland Trail Blazers tonight. The Mavs won 114-98. Obviously not a good night for a6m5 for BOTH of his teams to fail tonight.

So for the Rockets, they are a #2 Seed, the Southwest Division champions. They won't even have to leave Texas because we're taking on the 7th Seed Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs. It isn't that we're too good to leave Texas or anything. Just that there's nothing like taking on an in-state rival in a playoff series. Just that Good news as a Texas native is that a Texas team WILL advance to the 2nd round. Maybe TWO will advance from the Lone Star State.

Elsewhere... New Orleans is the 8th Seed in the West and will draw the #1 West-seed Golden State Warriors in the Playoffs. The Indiana Pacers lost their #8 Seed in the East as the Brooklyn Nets took the #8 seed with a beat down win at home over Orlando with a 101-88 win. Brooklyn will get the #1 East-seed Atlanta Hawks.

Congratulations to all other winners on Wednesday. The Playoffs are now set, as yet another O'Brien Trophy is waiting to be handed out come the NBA Finals.

I just wanted Indiana to win tonight. Blazers, Spurs, Braves & Red Sox lose tonight(Birds did win). As far as I'm concerned, Blazers are as done as the Pacers. :crazy:

Kinda sad that all Miami had to do was not blow a 30 point lead against the Bulls and they would be in the playoffs.

And it's amazing that Indiana missed out on the playoffs too after going ham once PG got back.

Some pretty cool round 1 matchups this year. Boston vs Lebron. Mavs vs Rockets. Toronto vs Paul Pierce. Anthony Davis in the playoffs for the first time. Every other West matchup because anyone could win except maybe the Warriors vs Pelicans, no prizes for predicting that one.
My preferences to win it all this season, in order, are: Toronto (:lol:), Cleveland, Warriors, Spurs. Toronto are my favourite team, Cleveland is my brother's plus they have Dello, Warriors have Bogut and Spurs have two Aussies but they already got a ring last season.

They could have won if everyone had wanted it as much as CJ Miles wanted it. Dude carried that team through 3.5 quarters.
