If it was patch related l'm not sure why it would sit there festering for over 24 hours before it decided to rear its ugly head.

Spammed the reconnect button 5 times and I'm through. Not sure if the servers are really down or a bug in the game. PD really needs to improve on their communication with the players, considering Sport is basically an always online game. GT's Twitter page isn't really helpful, they only tweet to promote the game.

The servers probably can't cope with the increased players, hopefully this downtime doesn't continue into christmas.

Has ANYONE managed to reconnect whilst having multiple won offline races waiting to save? SO WITHOUT losing hours of progress?
The game itself says reconnect or put PS4 in rest mode.
It does NOT say hey just restart the game, lose all your progress cos thats like a thing nowadays and we dont give a crap.

No excuse for PD. DONT sell more copies of an ONLINE ONLY game you dont have the server capacity to cope with.

"For the second time today I finish a hard work session and cant use my PS4! Im not waiting all night. About to delete 2 hours of lost wins so I can actually play a game that bloody works!
I've given it EIGHT hours so far. Gonna exit game now, then restart to see if that was a solution. If it WAS then I'm quitting right after and playing something not broken.
Will post my result to at least maybe save someone else form losing their saved progress.

I figured I'll wait until Europe is well asleep, and most of US has gone to bed, leaving just Oceania/Asia on the servers.

Having just restarted the game it still failed to connect. So I restarted the PS4 itself and voila the 'game' connected first time.
Lost those 2 hours worth of awful race saves but meh I can do them again if Im bored. 'Pro' level races you can win by wall riding as there are NO penalties at all. Pathetic.
So the GOOD news is you can reconnect by restarting your PS4.
The BAD news is that you can wait until the cows come home but you have almost certainly lost any saved progress.
I'm calling PD out on their claim you can play the game in offline mode when the servers are down and save later when they are back up. That's NOT TRUE.
It is an ONLINE ONLY game.

Omg, are you guys serious? Is this the new generation of gamers? I logged in here to get some info and wow, I cannot believe how much whining is here. People, **** happens. My goodness. I used to play EQ back in the day and they patched every week, sometime Sony would go down for hours unannounced.
This is a huge patch and a huge upgrade, you people act like they intentionall my did this. I am sure they have all hands on deck. While you sit here and bitch because your specific window to play is nethey will most likely be working though the holidays to mitigate your inconvenience.
You have waited 8 whole hours? How can you be so brave? How can you sleep tonight knowing 2 hours of gameplay may be washed away like the blood of the Chinese in Nanking? How can they be so callous? What if, by Satan’s wrath you cannot play for a whole day? Should they return all their money to you tortured souls and be public shamed and stoned.
Pick up a book and stop acting like a six year old. Check once in a while. Or, I think all of you people need to go upstairs, get under the covers and just sobb.

I mean why railride in some OP car to win a race that could be more fun driven properly in a sensible choice?Why would I do what exactly? I quit the broken game and can now play any game I want on MY PS4
