Wouldn't be surprised if one such company wasn't behind this. The bad publicity would surely help to increase sales and popular opinion amongst consumers making last minute holiday shopping decisions. Making some inclined to make returns & such. The timing is too perfect for the competition, happening at the most inconvenient time for GT fans.

I'd also imagine it wouldn't be too hard for a person experienced with network code to look for the PSN/GTS handshake code & attempt to disrupt it for a time from the comfort of their untraceable laptop PC or internet capable cell phone... A devious plot to make a rival/rivals profit for minimal effort & cost...

Eh, But what do I know?... :sly: Just a random thought from a random guy that doesn't trust much of anything in the gaming business lately...

Loot box, anyone?
To be honest this is what ive been thinking, seeing as how project cars 2 doesn't have the massive audience GT has accumulated over the years. They do this behind the scenes and act like they have the better game to sway ppl to buy their BORING game with comical support. I dont care what anybody says I dont put anything pass these companys when this week Apple admitted to purposely slowing down batteries of old phones to give people more incentive to buy their new crap.

Went my other house where Gran Turismo Sport is still installed on that PS4, was showing my older brother what the game is like and it randomly reconnected during an arcade race.

The delusion is strong. This place never ceases to amaze me!

Kaz MUST be really embarrassed about this. No matter how pissed off we are GT is still his baby and his baby has just had is legs amputated.

TBH, there's A LOT of players in the game ATM. Discovery sections still churning out lots of content, every Sport race I've been in today has been just like normal, even if you look on the GT website new accounts are popping up no less than any other day. I've actually turned my PS4 off 3 times since yesterday and still managed to get back in within the first few tries so I don't know how bad this is on a whole. Still infuriating if your not in, or just bought it, especially if you're one of those strange people want to do single player, that's the salt in the wound.

I like to think it's like a packed out nightclub and it's only letting the good looking people in! :D

Already down for over 24h.... I was expecting this to be fixed this morning and be done with it, but it’s taking so long now, I'm thinking some kind of compensation would be in order when this gets fixed... eventually... right?
Normally I'm not the kind of person that wants to bring such a thing up, but since we’re paying for the online part, and the game being useless without it, it just feels wrong...

What compensation would you want and why is it that if things don't go people's way these days the public scream for compensation. I've spent over a grand on this game and I'm not shouting to be compensated. It's hardly important in the grand scheme of the planet.

Some funny things on #gtsport on Twitter, a few even suggested going back to Driveclub as an example on how it "actually works".

I think some of them have forgotten / have very selective memories on the first few months of Driveclubs launch as some sort of barometer of quality.

I'm not defending GT Sport or the decision to make it (majority) online only, but it is not at times like this when I think its broken. I actually lament the now dead retro scene that won't exist in about 5 years when the servers finally get switched off, and you are left with what you have now when it doesn't work. In reality that is what you are dealing with here, an online only game is really just a hollow shell when the servers get powered off for good, no more booting it up for old times sake like you would a retro title, that's the real crime.

Driveclub though? Jesus...

Could be worse!! Could be driveclub VR

Actually, this just makes it all worse. I have no confidence that Sony is competent enough to resolve this permanently. I feel like it must have been related to the update...it can't be a coincidence can it? Truly, they asked for this with an online only save "feature".

Sounds like McLaren Honda doesn’t it :D
