Well, in the first fifteen minutes:

  • The controls are awful. I'm not even saying that as a sim-racing player, I'm saying it in the sense that cars don't even respond how one living in the real world would expect. I'm sure there's the "get used to them" argument, but they're so unnatural I don't know how I will.
  • After one of the first races, I regained control of my Mustang post cut-scene as it was merged with a BRZ in a parking lot.
  • Speaking of the cut scenes, I can't hear the character dialog at all. I'm sure it's heavy-handed and cheesy, but it means I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing after they end. I've tried numerous things with the game and my setup's audio settings. Nothing.
  • It is a really pretty game, I'll give it that.

I go through the same problem in terms of in game voices being mute. I think it is a glitch with 7.1 and 5.1 sound settings. Change it to stereo it might work.

My total play time is maybe 30 minutes and I've had 7 error messages saying I've lost connection to the EA servers and it suddenly exits the game and take me back to the mainmenu. It did this 3 times in a row at the very beginning (needless to say it was gonna be the last time I try), so I have the intro cutscene memorized. If you want a script, hit me up.

I also noticed:
1) the cars don't turn in at all by default. I'm going to adjust the turning radius and make the car full on grip to see if it resembles anything close to nimbleness on the road. Sliding the rear out to make the car turn isn't responsiveness, it's cheating (if that's the case)
2) I'm going to have to adjust the volume if it lets me. I have to wear my headset to hear the voices properly.
3) It's a great looking game
4) I wish I didn't have to waste spend time driving from one event to the other; I want to just warp from race to race, or to my garage.
5) Sounds better than any GT game to date
6) The game has potential to be a really fun game, or it can fall short; I need more seat time with the options/tuning
7) I like the simple tuning options in the garage to make the car grip or drift. Part of the reason why the game could be so great. I can see having a bunch of drift cars and grip cars to jump into depending on the event.
8) The worst thing about NFS are the cops and wanted levels. It just simply ruins the franchise for me. I hope it doesn't force a lot of that as the story goes on : /

You can. I don't remember how as I only played the beta but if you go to the map you can fast travel to any event (provided you've been to it's location before) and the garage

Orly? Nice, I tried poking around the map menu and couldn't find a button to warp to that spot. I'll google it and find out. That would be great because my session time is really limited with a little one hangin' around, crying and wanting attention

I believe you have to select the icon on the map and press left or right (the default option is to set as destination on the map)

Thought it might have been that. The game should really tell you there's a fast travel option. Took me around 3 hours in the beta to work out there was a fast travel system.

Apparently the handling improves once you unlock more parts and the adjustments for the sliders gets wider range. Still a dumb system though. They should separate the sliders from the upgrades.

Also check out this tips explaining what all the different sliders mean http://www.needforspeed.com/en_AU/news/handling101 One of them (Drift Stability Assist) acts to prevent too much lateral movement. I think this is what causes the strange behaviour in the AE86 video above.

I'm a little shocked by the amount of people complaining about this game like it's a racing simulator. It's
a Need For Speed game, it's an arcade racer. I don't know what the heck you guys were expecting from the handling. Complaining about balanced cars not doing well. Duh, you aren't supposed to have race car handling.

But then again, this is gtplanet, where if it's not a perfect simulator it's crap.

There is a distinction between good/bad and arcade/sim. Arcade handling can be good, and conversely sim handling can be bad. Good handling is intuitive, consistent, easy to pick up and hard to master. The early Underground games are a good example of this. This NFS on the other hand is the complete opposite.

We are not expecting rFactor, but we do expect the cars to drive somewhat like cars.

is it just me or where the **** is the turbo / kompressor sound?
And no BoV sound either, how the **** can you miss out on this in a game like this?

massively dissapointed when it comes to this.

other than that fun game so far after 4 hours spent.
You can hear it here at 1:19

Going to make a post real quick, wasn't there an Integra in the beta? I swear to god there used to be an Integra in the beta but now, I can't seem to find it. Aside from that, I'm really liking the game so far.

You mean the Acura RSX Type-S. It should be near the start of the list.

Anyone else having problems with Xbox Live? I can't play the game right now at all.

Thinking about trying to get my money back.

I've been online more or less since I installed without a hiccup, other than a break for lunch.

Me and EA servers have never mixed well, it took me a month to get online with DA:I.

Right now everything works online on my Xbone except NFS.

I had the impression grip.. Meant track suited grip car. Unfortunately in the type R it turned it into a understeer monster in the mountains, and anything that was a sharp turn in the city. It got beyond frustrating to watch the ai rewarded for drifting a turn as the civic turned into the turn and proceeded straight into the wall.

I found using the basic slider drift---grip the best suited and adjusting the diff to locked and brake bias to front. Has really turned the car into a different machine. It's actually enjoyable to drive now. And I'm sure there's room to grow. :)

Just my 2 cents from the experience of handling in this game 👍

First hour, here we go...

+ Pretty, not Driveclub pretty...but nothing really is lets be honest.
+ It feels like a PS2 game in a good way. I like the simplicity
+ Personally love the cutscenes, much prefer this to edgy undercover cop nonsense
+ BRZ!

- No sense of speed whatsoever, am I doing 114 MPH or 11.4?
-It feels like a PS2 game in a bad way. City streets are empty, janky frame-rate during the action
-The cops are absolutely terrible, I mean seriously.
-Five ways to play
nonsense is literally how any Need for Speed ever is played. Talk about over-pushing a gimmick.

Good fun so far, can see me losing a lot of hours to this due to customisation and potential with updates.
