@TokoTurismo If you have a stable internet connection then I would recommend purchasing the game. Need For Speed is far more complete than it was back at launch and things are only going to get better with free content! :)

By the way, the physics are another thing to consider before purchasing the game. After playing NFS for more than a couple of months I have got the hang of the handling model, but they do require some getting used to.
Agree. I dont have a great internet connection and havent had many problems with it. The game has only dropped like once on me.
The handling model isnt bad. Its very arcadeish, much like Driveclub. Setting up the handling properly is key, IMO. I set it about a 1/3 of the way to the drift side. I find the grip side of the handling to be pretty useless.

Same, I find this to be the sweet spot of every car I have purchased. The key to mastering handling is by cornering with controlled slides. Grip setups tend to be understeery and useless for half of the events in the game (since they are to do with drifting.)

Great update! I have to say waiting for the PC version paid off. Thanks for beta-ing the game for us console peasants  (j/k)

I hope garage spots are unlimited.

Also hope drag racing doesn't have auto-handling this time so it's actually a challenge. Complete with burnout and staging pre-race too. And wheelies!

Under The Hood #5 new update titled Hot Rods. :D
Under the Hood #5

Manual Transmission, new cars, more garage space and Drag Racing. All things you've been asking for and all of which will be going into the next update, due March 3rd.

New Feature: Manual Transmission
A few weeks ago we broke the news that Manual Transmission would be making its way into Need for Speed and we're really pleased to be able to confirm that it'll arrive as early as next week. We know that this is a feature that many of you have requested and we can't wait for you to get your hands on it.

New Cars: Hot Rods
Arriving fresh into Need for Speed are two brand new Hot Rods. Starting with the 1932 Hot Rod which will come with four unique Bodykits. Each of these bodykits has the potential to transform your Hot Rod into a great new look; Soft Top, Coupe, Sedan and Pickup.

Each version of the Hot Rod also comes complete with a full set of customization, including Hood, Lights, Grille, Exhausts, Bumpers and more.

The second Hot Rod being added into Need for Speed is the Aaron Beck ‘BeckKustoms F132’. This is an absolute monster of a ride and defines the word ‘custom’. When you take the shell from a Ford 1932, gently massage it into a fierce Formula One style chassis and strap in a high performance NASCAR engine, this is what you get.

New Events: Drag Racing
Inspired by the Drag Events of previous NFS titles, these new events are the perfect place for you to get your speed fix.

Unleash a burnout on the starting line to prime your wheels, align in the start box and time your revs perfectly. Think wisely about the use of nitrous, as it may just influence the outcome of the event.

There will be five new Drag events for you to take part in; Neck to Neck, The Perfect Shifts, Drag the Town, Pedal to the Metal and Speed Tunnel.

New Feature: The Warehouse
You’ve read that we’re adding new cars but before you head over to Twitter or Reddit to proclaim you need more garage space we’ve got your back.

Starting next week your garage will receive an upgrade that will allow you to store an additional five cars, perfect for those eyeing up a new ride and no excuse now not to take a Hot Rod for a fun-filled spin around Ventura bay.

Wrap Editor Improvements
We’ve been constantly blow away by your Wrap Editor creations and we can’t wait to see what you do based on the improvements coming in the Hot Rods update.

One of the most common bits of feedback we’ve received about the Wrap Editor is that you would like a coordinates system allowing you to position decals with a lot more accuracy. This information will now be shown in a panel below the selected decal in the edit decal menu and will update in real time when the decal is transformed.

Writing on your car also becomes even easier as we introduce Text Decals 2.0 and selectable fonts. Simply select your desired font and a popup will appear where you’ll be prompted to input your desired text.

Animations within the Wrap Editor are also being improved including:

  • Animation indicating when a decal has been added to a vehicle
  • Improved animation to indicate more clearly the selected decal on a vehicle
  • Speed up info text animation when showing an action happening

  • Drag Queen – Win five Drag Race events
  • Wrap it up – Download a shared Wrap
  • Kustom kar – Buy your first Hot Rod
Full Patch Notes
With this Living Game update there will be two new vehicles, a new game mode and Manual Transmission.

We are bringing Hot Rods to Need for Speed! Firstly the Ford 1932 Hot Rod, secondly the Aaron Beck BeckKustoms F132. Along with the Hot Rods players will now be able to play a Drag Race and use Manual transmission

  • On top of these big features the update also includes:
  • A Virtual Warehouse where you can keep an additional 5 cars in your garage
  • Improved Snapshot overview screen in the Need for Speed Network menu so you can find out more about your snapshots
  • Improvements Snapshot Pro mode
  • Improvements to the wrap editor
  • 3 new Trophies and Achievements
  • More campaigns for Rep / Cash and Discounts
  • A variety of tweaks and improvements including game play, World and audio
  • Multiple stability fixes

March 3rd? Sooner than I expected

So the warehouse features brings up the total number of cars we can own up to 10, looking forward to the update! 👍

EDIT: Just found out Drag racing has been implemented in a similar fashion to ProStreet, has a burnout mini-game

Wow, that's some update. The Hot Rod is going to be hugely customisable and I can see myself having to use those five new garage spots just for that car.

Holy crap, I might actually come back to NFS for a little. The game is slowly improving, and let's pray to God they keep on this trail. Not just for this installment for everyone after it.

Overall I must say I'm a lil' hype. :sly:

Oh my god. This is the sort of thing I've wanted in a game for ever. If there's a track nose option for the roadster, then I'm going to burst.

Anything other than the chopped top, the proportions look really off, and imo, Manual still doesn't mean crap when the cars slide however they want. Seriously, just watch BlackPanthaa's video, 40 seconds in, tell that's good physics. Hell, the cars in Burnout Paradise felt better.

Although them finally adding the measurements to the wrap editor is great, although should be a standard feature tbh, the text editor is a really cool idea, surprised it hasn't been done before, so I'll give them that.

.... Can't. tell. if joking. about proportions.

Are you suggesting that the in-game models of the car is off? Or are you just saying that in your opinion you don't like the 1932 Ford as a real car?

I agree that when Panthaa is racing around in the Skyline it looks like he can't hold it on the road. Dunno what's up with that.

I am as hyped as anyone can possibly get about the PC release, but the 'Captain Technicality' in me wants to point out something about the drag events we've seen so far: They aren't real drag events. They are point-to-point sprint races, the only difference being the pre-stage burnout at the beginning. They are way longer than a real drag event and they aren't in a straight line.

Oh, and there's no chick standing in the middle waving a flag.... huge missed opportunity ;-)

Coordinates in the editor? Freakin' finally!

I'm curious about the text editor. Crafting custom fonts has always been a huge time sink in Forza (even though they've expanded their font selection), so I might have to update the game to look at it in more detail.

Wondering about this too. Didn't I read that you can now select different fonts? But from Panthaa's video, looks like he's using the same ones that have always been available. I'm anxious to see some different styles.

How can you tell? You haven't seen the damn thing for yourself, but rather from another player's perspective.

Given that Theo is a pleb, his Skyline is maxed toward drift, and he's just getting used to manual driving in the game, it could be that he's just testing/goofing around.

Certainly off-topic, but can anybody explain to me why this guy has such a following? I tried watching one of his videos and couldn't get through more than a few minutes without wanting to stab my ears.

I question that as well.

Anywho,

I wonder if Ghost has taken note of the low payouts for the races.

Pretty much the same reason why PewDiePie has a following: character. I don't know why, but I find his content quite funny with the pleb jokes and Matthew's "hello" (which I think is the reason why you wanted to stab your ears).

On another note, he was one of the reasons why Need For Speed has changed, thanks to spreading #CraigItUp.

The stock roof options just look way, way too tall and bulbous. It looks like the whole front windsheild is off too. It looks like they just took the straight up and down of the truck and put it on every model
