You find it better in manual? I can't play this in manual. I'm getting a lot of button input lag, and there's just so much going on.

Yeah, I like to cruise around a bit and the auto makes it impossible to choose a nice cruising gear and you can't downshift approaching a corner either. Not getting any input lag on PC.

I can't do MT. Too much stuff going on in the game, I can't focus on shifting.

Same here. I loved the fact that MT is an option, but I can't gel with it like I did with Underground 2 and Carbon. (The MT in Carbon actually made the car to shift later than using automatic, which was why I loved it)

I'm exactly the same, I keep accidentally shifting down during drag races by trying to look back to see where my opponent is. I get on just fine with the auto box after they updated it.

Haven't had a problem with manual outside of the gears just not changing every once in a while. It seems to happen mostly when going up into 6th or 7th() As far as things going on, it doesn't seem any more difficult than any other racing game, in fact I feel there's more going on in games like Forza Motorsport and Pcars and those games are relatively easy to adjust to manual(even with clutch). Auto is just so much of a slog that just having the option to change your own gears made a big difference in playability to me.

Would be great if there was a proper redline indicator for each car though, becomes bothersome when you first purchase a car after you've been driving another one for some time.

I just started playing over the weekend and I love the game!

Question though, what's up with certain aftermarket pieces being limited because of other installed items. For example, with the car I have currently, I can't equip certain front bumpers because of the splitter? Are there ways around that.

There are no ways around it to my knowledge. It's actually more realistic that way; if a bumper is a completely different style and shape, then different splitters are not necessarily going to fit well. Realism may not be what everyone prefers when it comes to customizing cars though.

It is realistic I suppose, but as you said it's not really the preferred method from a Need For Speed game in my opinion.... They're not exactly one's for chasing realism lol

The game is great fun all the same :) Thanks for your reply.

Hmmmmm, can someone throw some suggestions as to what to try next?

I've tried the following: 911 (991) GT3 RS, Carrera RSR, Huaracan, 240Z, Skyline R34, M3 E46, M3 E92, Supra, Boss 302, Corvette, Viper, AE86 and Diablo SV.

EDIT: Can a moderator delete this post please? Just realized that I've double posted by accident.

Perhaps give the RX-7 a go, I've found it really good for drifting.

Daylight Mod. Man look at those missing textures. Now I see why Ghost only decided to feature nighttime mode its because the game is optimized for nighttime only.

The textures are deliberately left like that to make it easier on the game. Nighttime makes it easier to hide that ugly duckling trying to peak its head in. They are able to hide anything that doesn't appear attractive, and that likely goes for more than just the side of the road textures.

LOL and if they're planning to add daylight to the game, they better do The Crew Wild Run like update where the graphics were given an overhaul change just to look great.

It's likely we'll never see an expansion like that, just because of how much would have to be changed in the process. Especially taking into consideration that any additional content is going to be free.

Wow. That's why we don't need daylight. Unless developers who made mcla city get on board.
Not necessarily true. If the game was to incorporate some kind of day cycle from the get go, things would look nothing like that, it would be a lot more polished. The choice to do night was likely made to free up some extra resources for other things.

If GG really cares about this game then there should be a daytime/time transition update. I understand that it takes time to do it and it'll most likely be paid DLC but you have to question the free DLC if GG doesn't update the game in this fashion. Plus The Crew devs did it with their game, so why not GG?

They should just give us the Rivals map as a free DLC, that map is way better and has full day/night cycles and weather cycles. Looking at that mod the entire map would need to be re-touched to make it look acceptable.

I'm OK with the game being night only tbh. Otherwise this is just going to be Hot Pursuit/Rivals: Urban Edition. The Underground and Carbon games were night only and it didn't diminish our enjoyment of those titles. What I find annoying is the jarring dusk transitions in pre-defined areas of the map. Talk about breaking immersion.

The always online system in this game has done me over twice now. I was near the end of a 77 checkpoint sprint race when a cop forced my car into the air, over a barrier and left me unable to reach the next checkpoint. I paused the game but no restart option was available, so I stood up to turn the console off and as I did the micro USB to my controller bent and almost snapped. The controller was disconnected and because it's always online I couldn't pause anything and I got fined by the cops and thrown out of the race back to the garage.

**** you, EA.

I feel like a moron but I just can't seem to understand the drag race mode. It's impossible to keep the revs in the perfect range because it is such a tiny window. I can't seem to get a good start no matter what I try. Any suggestions? I feel like I'm not doing something right at the initial burnout or something. I don't really understand the directions I guess.

Im still confused on why the Honda civic type r ek9 has 8 gears.
strange that they didn't just stretch out the current gears and have 5 instead of making them shorter and adding an extra 3 gears.

also its labeled as a 2000 model civic type r when its a 97 model.

the old need for speed games seem to have done there research correctly on the vehicles they chose.

not sure if there are any other cars that have way too many gears, if you've come across others post it on here.

Some cars get the extra gears, but from what I have noticed only the high-end cars retain their original gear speeds. I do notice a performance difference with the Diablo that still retains its 5 speed gearbox. Its wheels spin a lot when drifting and staying at 5th gear won't help it accelerate in and out of a corner efficiently, than say a modified car with 8 speed transmission.

The VW GTI is one where it only has 7 speed than 8 speed, and the Dodge Challenger retains its 6 speed but gears 1 & 2 are redundant, making it work similar to a 4 speed. Hopefully the game will address the transmission changes when upgrading the gearbox.

ive got the Diablo and don't mind how it is with the 5 speed gearbox it fits it well, especially that diablo's are 5 speed irl.

Just driving the civic in manual really makes 1,2 and 3rd gear pointless, you literaly shift straight away even 6 to 7 is really short.

not sure how other players are enjoying driving in manual with their favorite cars.

I dunno maybe ghost programmed it this way not ever expecting to release manual gears coz u wouldn't really notice unless you counted the gears before the update showed them.
