wtf... how could the physic engine allow this to happen!?
I think the better question is "how can SMS allow this to happen?". DId they have too little beta testing? Did they beta test on a specific demographic (as in clean racers) without considering people with bad online manners?
The physics engine might be calculating well, but may not be taking into account how the car's body may affect car to car bumps like these. For other racing games, developers tend to take into account that the road physics and the vehicle's body physics should be different. Either for the sake of realism or gameplay, they decide whether these things should be possible, then create a separate dynamic for it. Which is mostly why some series don't have cars which roll over, or fly off incorrectly when hitting a barrier or another car.
LFS comes to mind. One of the best racing physics engine, but cars tend to fly around when hitting barriers. But all it should take is for the LFS guys to decide to anchor cars on these specific instances, or definr the physics when a car hits the barrier.
