I actually went back and played NFS 2015 the other day to get an understanding of the drift physics. Yes, the brake to drift function is clunky but I think Payback was far worse in that department. I tried to drift "normally" and astoundingly, I could get the car to behave as I wanted to. I hit the brakes, pulled the handbrake and applied power as I would in GT Sport. The amount of control required to get through the corner isn't much but that's OK, it's Need For Speed. When you initiate the brake-to-drift function, the physics go haywire. This really pissed me off in Payback, where it simply wasn't possible to complete an event without initiating the function. I couldn't work it out. Moreover, I thought the whole premise of the game was stupid and it didn't give me a sense of freedom like 2015. Heat, on the surface at least, gives you more freedom to choose what you want to do.
