- The driving reminds me a bit of The Run and HP2010. A bit of a disappointment, but as long as it's not super awkward and clunky, I won't mind.

- Not a fan of the excess use of NIS scenes and cinematic cameras, but I probably should've expected it. Hopefully they can be changed in the options.

- Customization seems like a slightly improved version of what we already have. Gonna wait until we see more.

- The suicidal helicopter pilot from NFSMW has apparently returned.

You can only apply the special builds to the derelicts. Boo.
Thought the same thing. 👎

Basically what happened 9 years ago.

Fixed.

I have been playing The Run again and I am amazed how sensible it was in comparison to what I just saw, and even The Run had its moments of explosions and takedowns.

This is proof that Ghost doesn't know what they're trying to make. The teasers were promising, but with this footage, it all backfired. I am not going to buy this, even if I do buy a PS4, Xbox One, or an acceptable PC build.

Edit: I'll admit that the customization aspect appears to be an improvement over NFS 2015, but it's not a big deal for me and there are more details that should be of greater concern.

Criterion. By far.
Criterion. I didn't like the direction they took with HP2010.

I don't know... Criterion definetly diverted the path of the series (a path Im not agree either), but at least they released HP2010.

Basically what happened today

I hope it's true. NFS needs to be out for a long time. Then EA sells the rights (very unlikely) or another team take the series with fresh ideas and take a lot of risk to impress people (they will need to as they would have been a long time out).

I wouldn't say so. They make mediocre sells and apparently they can cope with that. They managed to create a fanbase and they go on with this philosophy. EA and ghost live in their bubble until it's about to burst, then they start to make their brain work. NFS2015 saved them and as long as customization will be there along with Liberty Walk kits and stupid supercars people will be happy and so the devs.

?

Stupid is releasing a game with no identity, things people don't want and poor physics. I don't like tunning and it was the first step of the series to loose its identity, but I will not call it stupid.

This perfectly sums up my feelings towards today's presentation, NFS Payback and the franchise in general.

Next question is, will the developer watch and/or look for feedback after this event, or stick their fingers in their ears while continuing to "listen to the fans", yelling "lalalalawewuzcrewznsheeits" and hoping some crummy YouTubers carry the sales forward with rabid fans who don't know what a good game is?

Someone tweet this thread at the NFS twitter.

The question now is... Who damaged more the series: Criterion or Ghost?

I'd say Ghost. I have heard nothing but praise for HP2010, and having played both MW2012 and 2015, while MW didn't have a lot going for itself, it was playable and was even fun compared to 2015, which had weird, scripted-like physics that were unpredictable and unfun.

Now let's all take a deep breath from all the bashing and wait for the game to get more uncovered.
We still have to try the game itself and we still need to see the full capability of the customisation.

A Two year wait for this!? LMAO!!! For the people outside of GTP who kept crying they wanted a remastered or new version of Burnout, here it is just with "NFS" plastered on to the cover, AGAIN.

Just like 2015, this latest NFS title has no interest in me whatsoever, especially with phyics like that and all the nonsense happening during that gameplay trailer alone. Like seriously, if EA is not gonna never learn they mine as well kill off the franchise all together. But worry not folks, I'm sure Ghost Games are willing be to support this game for....the next couple after the game's release. :dopey:

Yeah, let's roboot THE ENTIRE franchise and than completely pull a 180 back to make something else that will not follow up to that roboot...

I knew i shouldn't have used that word
No, I don't mean that supercars are stupid. Heck, I attended a supercar event today and it was freaking awesome.

What I mean is that the choice of non tuners in this particular franchise is not very wise and pretty tasteless imo, if you go for supercars there are a lot of options. If you need to put only cars of which Liberty Walk makes parts for, I say those are not the ones I want. A Lancia 037 would never fit e.g.

Supercars doesn't fit? Supercars is exactly the stuff that fits, as it has been the topic that started the series and most time has been arround. Rally doesn't fit because NFS has never performed rally (V-Rally wasn't a NFS).

And I don't really care there is other option for that kind of topic. The best period of NFS was with that topic.

The solution for that I said it days back. 2 franchises like Forza and Forza Horizon: one for the tunners and other for the luxury cars.

Will the game even let you do anything for two seconds without being interrupted? The Run's driving sequences had more gameplay than this "gameplay trailer", and it was a 100% linear experience that deliberately presented itself like a movie.

Physics-wise, I agree with those who say it resembles The Run, and I could live with that if it was true. But I'm not the least bit interested in The Fast and the Burnout-ious: The Interactive Movie.

Be honest, you know he's gonna defend it even before you clicked on the video

Theo's (along with similar YouTubers) viewers are the target audience for Need For Speed Payback so he is bound to praise the game. I get a lot of people here are not fond of the footage they've seen, but the franchise is far from dead. If anything, the sort of people the game appeals to has changed.

The question now is... Who damaged more the series: Criterion or Ghost?
EA. Criterion at least made something playable, even if there was little replay value. Ghost has made 🤬. Black Box was killing the series before they got axed. SMS....I won't touch that, I'll just say Shift 1 rates near the bottom of my list of games. EA is the one constant, and they've 🤬 every racing series they've touched for the last 12 years+.

Shift 1 and 2 were extraordinary games for me... from a very specific perspective: cockpit view and wheel. Pad control and third person view were couple of the weirdest things I've ever encounter.

This is going completely OT and I'm not going to reply further, so let's make sure to make everything clear:
I like supercars and I want to see them in the game. No I don't like riced up supercars with things like Libert Walk, supercars are an engineering feat and they need to be respected.

No you don't decide what trend is the best so don't force me into thinking otherwise, you are wasting your time. I always thought the perfect game would have given everyone to enjoy cars, in a very much Gran Turismo way, so let supercars compete with tuners, the most logic thing to do, you can't ignore their existence along with those who love them.

Last thing, I never heard that Forza and Forza horizon were made for different car types, and I'm pretty sure they weren't.
I'm not going to reply further to OTs

I agree with that, supercars should not be riced up.

It was my opinion. Sorry for not posting "IMO" every single paragraph. And arguably, it was the best period.

Forza Horizon and Motorsport satisfy two types of gamers: arcady ones and simcady ones. Having two NFS franchises you would satisfy two types of NFS fans: tunners and luxurycars ones. Not so difficult to understand...

PD: Love when people say "I will not follow this conversation, it's OT" and still they write a whole message following the conversation and doing offtopic with the pretext of making everything clear :odd: Funny, because everything is clear if the other person understand his position, and he can understand his position if they keep discussing until getting some point of mutual understanding. 💡

PD1: Damn, double posting. I forgot to copy the text and posting it in my previous message by editing it...

If it wasn't bad enough with EA's Battlefield shills on YouTube, they're pushing even harder this year to round up more big-name channels (and possibly journalists!). Be careful where you get your information from, because not everyone is keen to disclose partnerships (even though you are required to disclose). Your best bet is to watch gameplay from smaller, almost unknown YouTube channels without commentary who are not sponsored at all, and then make your judgement on the game.
