Need for Speed: Rivals

IMO, the repair shops need a cool down period. I got into a situation recently where I was playing as a cop and found myself against a player who was a racer that kept on looping around and around back to the shop. It ended up in a stalemate where he quit because we kept on rearming and repairing ourselves over and over again - this would not have been an issue if a cool down was implemented between 30 seconds to 1 minute. Interestingly, he was right by a safe house - he was at heat level 8 and just quit without bothering to bank his SP.

If people play the game like it should it wouldn't need to have a cool down, but what you said is exactly what is on the ps3 trophies for boosting SP/Heat and multiplayer. Just another reason why I want to finish the main game before doing anything.

The game is so buggy that yesterday when I was playing the last racer race, one of my friends left the game and the game automatically disconnected me from game. Result = the 45km event didn't count for the assignment despite me completing the objective. Finally on my third try, I finallly finished the race and the game started playing the credits but then another wierd thing happened. Another guy from my friendlist left the game and the game disconnected me yet again, so it skipped the credits and the final options that should unlock the remaining 40 racer ranks (which only appears once) so I was stuck in rank 20. I tried to complete another assignement to see if it fixed this issue, I tried to reset the game but nothing worked so I was forced to start over.

So I finished the first playthrough of the cop career, and started over to unlock every car. But I can't seem to earn any SpeedPoints...

You have to go through the Cop Assignments and click the playlist that you haven't completed yet and play?

I have completed everything on the cop side and yet I am at 99.4% with the stupid Bentley yet to unlock. :grumpy:

Hmm.. They did used Recycled Engine sounds from Most Wanted.

IMO 458 sounds quite bad...

Recycled Engine Sounds from NFS MW2.. This is quite sad :\.

I can understand the M3 and the Gallardo in Rivals, they have the same engines as the ones in MW2012, but still, they could've recorded new sounds. The GT3 sounds pretty different than the GT2, I think they actually recorded it from scratch. There's nothing to say about the CGT, they used the sound from the Panamera on a glorious V10... The Huayra sound worse in Rivals as well, it sound like a V8, not a V12. I think this game was either really rushed (hence the bugs and the not properly modeled cars) or Ghost were very lazy. The 458 sounds not very accurate too, I can't figure out what car the sound is taken from, cause it doesn't sound like a Fezza.

I agree.

Rivals

Most Wanted

:(. Also seems they Recycled some Models from Criterion Games, Also the Aventador 720-4 sounds garbage. Edit; Looking at all the car sounds most of them are the same samples from Criterion Games.

Yes! The Veneno and the Aventadors sound nothing like the real ones! Only the Murcielago SV sounds right. God they screwed up the sounds in this game. I didn't expect that, TBH.

🤬 I just lost 10 levels in Overwatch. Really. I hit level 20 then it just decided to say nope not today. Level 10.

Edit: Try relogging and did an event just to see if it would autocorrect but it didn't. I lost 10 levels in Overwatch.

Edit2: After EA blah blah. They said there was an glitch in the system at about the same time of level up. However a quick fix was done and gave me back my levels.

It's perfectly fine (PS3), but the graphics can suffer a bit. You can get a bit of pop-in (that what they call it?), which is annoying especially when trying to dodge AI traffic at full speed. Having vehicles magically appear out of nowhere directly in your way is downright stressful.

Anyone here on PC have this DirectX problem? (I don't have it, just heard of the problem.)

Some players may have experienced a DirectX error when launching their Need For Speed: Rivals game. The error reads "DirectX function "CreatePixelShader for (null)" failed with E_INVALIDARG ("An invalid parameter was passed to the returning function."). GPU: "Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000", Driver: Unknown"

Our team is investigating the issue and working on a resolution as quickly as possible. To help aid in the investigation, you can provide your specs to this forum. We appreciate your feedback and thanks for you patience.

Im on PS3 and well it does have the loading lag, and of course the pop up traffic or vanishing traffic. Overall it's okay.

The automatic disconnect I believe occurs when the host quits the game and is transferred to another player in the game, most Call of Duty players will be very familiar with this occurrence. The difference between CoD and Rivals is that unlike having a maximum of 12-18 players in CoD, your chances of the host quitting is much greater when you only have a max. of 6 players, thus you have a 1 in 6 chance the guy who is quitting is the host. Worst is the process is not streamlined at all unlike CoD, as someone pointed out the process can take close to a minute.

And of course as in your post, there seems to be the weird situation of loss of progress in almost every area. I had one of those challenges where you had to get 125,000 SP in one session, the host quit and all the SP I had counted towards that goal was gone. It also seems in races it resets everyone's health - I was in a Hot Pursuit as a cop I had worn down most racers to red in their health bars and only had about two miles to go, a new host was picked and everyone including myself was back to full health. There was just simply no way I could take down four racers in perfect condition with only two miles to go.

Isn't there a way to play alone? I remember seeing a video that said you can pick from joining a public room, invite only room, and a private room. Can't you just join a private room to completely bypass this problem?

Yep, you can even set it so that you are only in single player mode and no one online can join you. IMO, this is great if you want to proceed through your career without interruptions, whether from host migrations or other players getting in your way during events (all the events being in an open environment has a down side I guess).

Is the game worth picking up or any better than most wanted 2012 that was a awesome title.

This will vary from person to person, I kind of wish video game developers still made demos (they seem to be getting rarer as time goes on) so people could make a decision. I know someone that took back Rivals only after an hour because it didn't have steering wheel support (a lame reason if you ask me, but to each its own) and I know guys unlike you who felt MW 2012 was crappy because of the driving physics.

If you're going to ask me, the game is basically Hot Pursuit 2010 refined - the Wikipedia page for the game links to HP 2010's page under the game play section which I think shows how similar the two games are. I do like how the police play a much bigger role than in MW 2012, as I felt their role was marginalized in last year's game (only appearing in single player in a game that was basically built multiplayer first apparently). Redview County is almost a clone of HP 2010's Seacrest County, it's basically an area with every possible biome you would see in the United States except they moved them around, i.e. the desert area is now in the southwest quadrant of the map as opposed to the southeast in Seacrest county and the snowy mountain area is in the southeast area of the map instead of the HP 2010 location of the north.

The best way to describe the basic feel of the game is it's like how they did Test Drive: Unlimited - Single Player and Multiplayer are seamlessly integrated together (though you can choose to play alone if you want), there are events all over the map you drive to (unlike HP 2010 where everything is done through menus) while up to five other players drive around also (who maybe cops or racers). You can choose to do the events alone, but if there are other players nearby they will be included in the event when you start it. This is where a two-sided blade comes into play: the don't occur in a separate room or instance but on the same map everyone else is playing on. What this means is you can get a scenario where you are racing against five AI players in one event but another player who is playing an "Interceptor" event running from the cops will zip by you. While this seamless interaction is cool in a sense, it can also be detrimental especially if you are trying to focus on your career: imagine if you were trying to nail down a tough time trial and suddenly a player who is a cop comes along and basically does everything in his power to try and run you into the ground, it can be fun and frustrating at the same time. I should note on the next-gen systems there are an abundance of NPC AI cops and racers roaming around during an outside of events, I'm not sure if they are as frequent on current gen systems.

I don't know what to say, read reviews or try play a copy before hand via a friend or rental. I think it's a fun game if lacking a bit on depth.

Thanks for replying aftrbrnr,i see so it's pretty much hp 2010 with a open world an a couple of jumps? like i was saying on my last post i have the 4gb 360 pretty much picked up the cheaper model as im more of a sometimes gamer and this is the first title they have forced the install on a internal hard-drive the bastards wont even let you install on a usb flashy.so im on the fence about purchasing a harddrive for this particular title.

Shame criterion didn't ad any more dlc another area and more cars would of been great

I have done this because once I started there were people using Bugatti's already ramming every racer that just started. So I just ended up in Single player and playing through both careers a few times then go into online after all that.

@Need4Speed685 You said you were at level 50 in overwatch is that the max level?

There is DLC on way the way they'll more than likely expand the map and definitely add new cars the usual ea spiel, so I believe its worth it, if I where you I'd look for hard drive on clearance around black friday or online to save yourself some moolah theres bound to be some for 360's available since the expecting the masses to upgrade eventually.

And As far thos he keeping mentioning next gen, I say get it now its cheaper and more ppl to playhttp://www.bestbuy.com/site/need-for-speed-rivals-xbox-360/1806093.p?id=1219065249080&skuId=1806093&st=Need%20for%20Speed%20Rivals&lp=4&cp=1

Sale Ends Today, I think haven't paid full price for Need for Speed Game since Undercover, all BF or 2nd week sales EA wants volume and knows these games are shallow the only versions not receiving discounts this year or the next gen version I'm assuming you can guess why...

I picked up 2 yesterday for 64 bucks, I'll definitely agree its not worth full price, but it hasn't been since Crapterian took (All the way back to carbon i guess excluding nfs shift)over there games are shallow and have a short community life anyways, I hated hot pursuit 2010, but I love this its there best attempt @ adding depth to there game with much improved handling, openworld and balance trade-offs between the opposing sides of the law.

The Glitches, Framerate hiccups, server and load issues are present on current/next gen + the fact random racers and what not strewn all over the map which I ran into or busted several times while not even participating in my current event.

I'll be honest most of the dlc for this game will probably hit by summer, if you know you'll have your next gen by next fall. I'd say wait pick up then@ bargin price and hope ppl are still interested in playing it on next gen, if not skip it and move right on to The Crew or EA's Next need for speed which just like madden will be out next fall with varying quality results.....

Someone did say there will be a DLC drop next month sometime, As a free Christmas present. I think it was just 5 cars but anything is possible.

Your right, but the 2 paid DLC packs or probably spring/summer its not like battlefieild where they have a 2 year Plan till the next game they have a cycle, they stop supporting the need for speeds after 2 years I think, EA is ruthless on that front

There are 4 paid packs that are announced with the 1st one being free. 2 Racer packs of 5 cars each and 2 cop packs of 5 cars each.

Edit: Has anyone been having issues with Overwatch within the past 2 to 3 hours?
