just played today for about 5- 6 hours and am kind of torn on this game.
My short review.
it froze on me a couple times so there is that. I don't like that fact that I can't pause the game to look at the map, why not just ghost the car for a moment? As long as you aren't currently in an event it really shouldn't be an issue.
The 6 players per world is.. trash. Not nearly enough people to fill the map, which is rather small. I feel like I've already seen it all. I feel like a lot of what is happening here are mechanics and ideas that I've already played with and seen in other games, like the criminally underrated TDU2.
Finally the handling of the cars feels weird like they couldn't decide to go full arcade or sim and it lands uncomfortably somewhere in between. At high speeds I feel like my brakes do nothing, yet at low speeds my brakes twist the car off a straight line. Initiating a drift also feels less consistent then it did in HP(2010). Which I still find to be the best arcade racer this gen.
The game is an improvement over Most Wanted tho, so I will give credit for that. The move to open country side/out doors is far better then racing in the claustrophobic city and I feel like there are actual "Races" to be had in this game, something I can't honestly say about MW. I also feel the car selection is pretty slim pickings. I'm not the type who needs 300+ cars but going through the racer cars I kind of felt a little let down + some cars are racer/cop only, which smells to me like a DLC opportunity :/ I rather liked the 1:1 parity of cops to racers in HP, I could play my McLaren F1 either way! Speaking of the F1... where is that car anyway?
I was really hoping for an improved HP, but what I got instead was HP:MW.
6/10 (5 being average, the game is slightly above average)
