i thought it was time for an upgrade. my commodore was getting old and the cruiser...well it is old. i had a look in the paper this morning and i saw i beauty: 1998 Holden VT Senator.

i went down after breakfast and gave it a once over and was impressed. its got 18 inch GTS alloys, GTS leather seats and all the goodies! i took it for a test drive and  what a monster!

when i got back to the car yard i popped the bonnet and this is what i saw:

there was no doubt in my mind that this masterpeice was gonna be parked in my driveway. the commodore and landcruiser are now history - this car is my first child

Do I suck or is that a turbo?

If it runs a belt, it's a supercharger.

I have to ask - do they have any numbers on the output? That is the 5.7, right?

ive no clue on output yet but it leaves my old VP for dead.

im 70% sure that its still the original LS1 block.

Ay Caramba!

It's a pretty neat instal. Any idea who did it? I can't make it out in the photo.

Mate - I see you've got the six speed - you'd just about need a supercharged 5.7 to get any acceleration out of sixth!

the car was brought up from victoria so i guess it was done by a tuner there. when i get onto the previous owner ill be sure to ask. all the welds are so precise and smooth, its a masterpeice!

yeah, a roll on in 6th in a standard SS is very poor. ill test this over the gateway bridge when i go and pick up my wife from work 😈

You no doubt know this, but the gearbox is the same as the Corvettes, and GM wound sixth right up to improve highway fuel economy so the car would slip under the US gas guzzler tax.

it's even better than i thought mate  :)

err.. how much did it cost???

he tells me that the supercharger is no where near stressed at the moment - its rated at 1200hp . i dont think ill be touching it, its got plenty of power for me (can smoke 3rd gear).

ive noticed a blow off valve but it doesnt give out a disgusting hiss when you take your foot off, it recirculates the boost back through the supercharger :)

i just picked my wife up from work and she loves it. this car wont be going anywhere for a few years to come!

i dont think there will be much of a chance of that happening as the tyres on the back cost more than 250 dollars each

stupidly fast is right, 0-60 is a bloody short time.

vat_man: 100kmh (60mp/h) @1700rpm in 6th gear...ill have to try for 300kmh one day when im feeling mighty brave :nervous:

Heh - I gather from the VN Group A rods that this is the old Holden V8 - is it the 5.0 or the stroker?

A quick trip to NT and a couple of ratchets up on the ol' supercharger and you're away!

yeah its a stroker.

the guy said to me that he has the pulleys to hit 28 psi on the blower. hes only had it up to 15 because the motor hadnt been run in properly yet.

i dont think id attempt 200mph on the NT roads...they suck pretty bad in some places.
