New DLC Free Car and Update 2.02

Okay, who's pumped for a new GTR?

Anyone?

...

Anyone...?

Um... yeah...

Quite a few people actually. If you had bothered to read the whole thread you would see that.

That's reaching.
$4 for 4 cars.
Everything else is "free". You can't call it something it isn't. I like the game too, but don't just make stuff up.

I'm not making stuff up, cause it's true.

Um... yeah...

I don't know what the big deal about the GT-R is, I love them all! This is one is going to be the best of them. Anyone know if the cars from second DLC will be available in NCD (like the first DLC after the update?)

Me! Have you seen the 0-60 time?

It really is an amazing machine. With how heavy and portly it is, it still boggles my mind how it can handle so well and go so FAST. Being a car guy, I welcome any iteration of a car, especially one with as many improvements as the '12 GTR.

Yea, there are a lot of GTRs already, but the GT series and GTR/Skylines kind of are like conjoined twins lol.

It's easier to look at it that way if you don't buy the DLC. You get the update for free, and you would have to spend $4 for 4 cars. If you buy the DLC, it's easier to say I'm paying $4 for these 4 cars on this day, whilst recieving a nice update and an extra car.

I don't care that it's another GT-R, the 2012 model is a beast. What I've never understood though is why they don't make more versions of the newer premium models. The Suzuki Swift is an example, although a pathetic one. Would it have taken that much more time to model a Golf VI GTI and a Scirocco GTI aswell?

Couldn't have been a better DLC pack for me. I'm a big Hot Hatch fan the Golf being my Favorite!!

Only thing that could have been better would have been the Hyundai Veloster added as a premium....
+1. I've been wanting to see the Scirocco from the beginning too. Lately, I've been doing the hothatch thing myself, going through the VDubs, Peugeots and... well, everything, and have been happier than Ricky Bobby at a baby signing event.

Yes! More DLC I won't buy!
Will. ;)

The game will be outdated just in a couple of months lol
For one person on the planet I suppose lol. :sly:

But seriously, the game is getting improved periodically, and who knows what's in store for 2012? Criticism is fine, no game is perfect. But the complaining, I have no time for, and I'm sure Kaz doesn't bother with it either. If you don't like the fact that the European to Japanese car ratio in this car pack is now 3:1, I doubt you'll like much of anything. I wanted some classic Gran Turismo tracks too, as well as an improvement of some kind for the Livery Painter, but I can wait. The game is plenty entertaining for me as it is. Like a racing sim that's actually immersive and fun, and I own the freaking cars!

Like many of us, I've been playing this game like mad since I got it installed, and the only other game I can say that about is GT4. And GT4 had not one addition done to it. GT5 is going to be going for years.

Thank you for the goodies you continue to make for us, Kazunori and Polyphony. Merry Christmas to you and your families from a grateful fan. :)

By the way, I remember Yamauchi saying in an interview that the VW Scirocco was essentially ready when GT5 was first released, but they didn't manage to put it in the game in time. So, it's safe to say that they've held back this car for a year.

If Volkswagen get this treatment of two new cars and (hopefully) two new RM's, then that gives hope to the BMW, Ford, etc, etc fans among us that they'll get that same treatment in the near future.

Oh I would guess so...would be pretty retarded if the 1st DLC was and not the most recent lol. You never know with PD I guess:crazy:

Most likely, standards will now be able to use the same wheels that we currently have available for premium models. Of course, they could also add new ones, but I'm betting it's just an update to allow the use of the wheels already in the game. 👍

SHIRAKAWA Akira
If people lower their standards by finding acceptable $1 for an extra set of clothes or a gun, it won't take too long until (GT6?) $4.99 will be the price for a single DLC car in GT.

That is called inflation as GT6 will be released in three years time or more, then that will not be that much.

Jokes apart I get your point but I truly think develop a premium takes time, not just the graphics but the handling and sound, I hope the '12 GTR will feel somehow if not completely different to the actual one on power, handling, sound and so on, the same with the other DLC cars I trully hope they behave like the real thing, if not then yes 1$ per car is expensive.

I'm not big on GTR's but the 2012 is a monster, and the Scirroco is nice...

Honestly I'm happy with the DLC, and the price point. Any more and I would have needed another PSN voucher.

I think the kart SP is there just so we can buy the special DLC paints without needing to rebuy the first DLC's paint pack, which is a good idea.

Wont that look weird? Having premium quality rims and standard, boxy cars lol??

Good thing I saved that money!

The fact that they modeled the 86 and we will be playing it this soon after the production pictures were released is amazing..

That's right the cars not even out yet, and we will be driving it on GT5, but PD should be "ashamed" because they didn't bring out a GT300 spec BRZ?

Absolute insanity.

Um... yeah...

Me.

I'm testing a US spec 2012 R35 GTR on Friday :sly: :scared:

Golf R and Scirocco looks nice. Mini too. How about a Cooper S Works model next time (we already have two Cooper S')

Oh, agreed, but looking at it the latter way doesn't make it more right. It's still $4 for 4 cars, nobody's paying for any of the updates. Quite frankly, I would hope I didn't have to pay for the ability to change the wheels on Standards, since I could do it 6 years ago in GT4 ;)

From a modelling standpoint, the Scirocco would've been the most time-consuming car to make of this pack - the 2011 Cooper S is barely different from the model we currently have available to us, the R35 is very similar to the myriad R35's we already have (impressive it may be, performance-wise), and the Golf R can quite comfortably use the mkV as a base.

I'm unsure if I'll be buying this pack - ironically, the only car that truly interests me is the GT-R.

I'm so happy with both VW's! Changing wheels on standard cars too! Will it be like in gt4 with used factory wheels for sale?

I'm pretty interested about the racing sound improvement..will believe it when i'll hear it because there is so much place to improve car's sound.

It was "missed in the last minute" when the game was released:

I think you will find other quotes about this by Yamauchi elsewhere.
Essentially PD already had this car ready for quite some time (as far as I know, since just after game release).

^^
They probably have 100 cars and several tracks done to some extent but they can't release those stuff with update

Since DLC cars are only few they should be free like Toyota FT-86, kart :grumpy: However it is nice they are still updating the game.

One thing is for sure, the "wishlist" threads will be hitting at fever pitch for the next couple of months.

I am truly surprised there are no "insiders" on here who have information regarding PD and their future plans. (If there is someone I am unaware of, please point me to their thread.)

I was really really reallyyyyyyyyyyy hoping for the 2012 BMW M5 but I'm more than happy with what the update offers. I've been dreaming about wheels on standard cars since the game came out. THANK YOU KAZ!

Well now, that's interesting, thanks for the find 👍

So... planning DLC long in advance, and charging $1 per car? If it were any other game... :P

I forgot about the Toyota, however, that comes free with the update. I realize we've already had the GT-86 in tuned and normal form, so I'm unsure if those could've been used as a base for this, but technically it's "new" too. I do wonder if they'll ever release the GT-86 II concept to players though, since they went through all the trouble of modelling it and making a video.

One other thing - like the last DLC pack, I hope the data for the new cars is included in the free update, so purchasing the DLC is just an unlock. It's a great way to have in-game advertising, really - I know I'd be more inclined to buy the pack if I didn't know about it until facing off with a Scirocco or '12 GT-R in a race 👍
