New DLC Free Car and Update 2.02

Wrong Pal, that's the '12 your talking about.

just checked again. The 2012 model is called the 2013 GTR in the US (for some marketing reason).

and actually the track pack edition (2 seater, a bit lighter overall and with different wheels, modified suspension, brake cooling ducts) was released in Japan a couple of days ago, so the game's DLC is already behind.

It was "missed in the last minute" when the game was released:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=137247

I think you will find other quotes about this by Yamauchi elsewhere.
Essentially PD already had this car ready for quite some time (as far as I know, since just after game release).

which means that, from release date, the only brand new car models are.....the go karts.
Well, maybe those were the prototypes of the PDI racing kart.

I don't know what the big deal about the GT-R is, I love them all! This is one is going to be the best of them. Anyone know if the cars from second DLC will be available in NCD (like the first DLC after the update?)

lol I know. I don't hate the GTR like some people.

I just find it funny how it doesn't matter what update/special event/DLC comes out; it always includes a GTR or two (or more).

Like the last DLC had what? four GTRs?
Plus the one they added in the update.
Plus the stealth one they gave away.

Did I miss one?

I mean, that's a lot of GTRs for a game that already has more GTRs than anything else.

I just find it humorous.

I am truly surprised there are no "insiders" on here who have information regarding PD and their future plans. (If there is someone I am unaware of, please point me to their thread.)

Amar. ;)

But he only hints at things if he's allowed to. (See: "winds") :P

PLEASE HAVE THE TOYOTA 86 AEROKIT PLS PLS PLS

The FT 86 concept is like 12 yrs old scotch whiskey and then when they actually release the production model it became 3 yrs old whiskey, the person who draw the concept must be disappointed no?

This dlc pack is incredibly underwhelming, It adds nothing to the game, The gt-r will just feel like a gt-r and the others will feel like the cars they're based on, Only the scirocco can be said to add something if anything as it is not currently in the game, This dlc pack considering the first dlc is not underwhelming, Its downright pathetic, A lame attempt with no imagination,

Many oh us want new cars from 2010-11 that are not in the game in any form, All the people who are saying this dlc pack is amazing well i dont know what you guys are taking because it isnt, Only fans boys will argue against this because they cant accept the truth, I've been a gt'er since the beggining but i wont kid myself,

A point being, the TC models were only modelled after the cars that were in the game. These are 5, BRAND NEW, real cars that have been reproduced in the space of TWO months (and hopefully the sound has been sampled properly). So it's not really fair to compare the first DLC, which had more time, to the two-month ones.
Only one of these cars is brand new and it was already modleled before the game came out,
Lol, the patch is almost useless?? How? And you should be grateful that they didn't add 4 more japenese cars in the DLC. If you don't like it go cry somewhere else please.
Oh is this thread only for fan boys who dont like to hear the truth? This dlc extremley poor
Jai
I had the same approach to the selection of "new" cars as you did, I'm disappointed with the lack of fresh cars.. But if PD do it right, a variant of one car can feel like a whole other..
Can being the magic word, The previous dlc cars had no charachter, PD is simply of the ball with the car list and are not remedying it
Jai
I'm sure each car costs more than a $1 to make..
So there are over 1000 cars in this game, You think this game is worth paying over 1k for?
I'm happy, people expect to much.. Nobody is forcing you guys to buy it, and don't feed me the "if we don't complain PD won't give us better DLC" crap. I can understand why people are "upset" though, and don't feed me the "complaining about complaining" crap either.. I'm surprised more people aren't mentioning that we can now change rims on standards, hasn't that been a wanted feature since release?
You are cleary a fan boy though, Satisfied by very little by the looks of it, Everyone once again joked that pd would give us another gt-r, And once again they did, They could at least give us the option to buy the cars individually so we dont feel ripped off having to pay for the gt-r, Obviously i wont be pbuying it,

As for the rims i do not understand the desire for it, Yes i understand its annoying not being able to change rims on standards as you logically should be able to but seeing people type 'i could cry' and 'im so happy' is laughable, They have no effect on the gameplay and the standards look poor in photomode

Jai
Me! Have you seen the 0-60 time?
Its just a set of numbers, Have you seen the hundreds of cars people want in this game instead of the hundredth gt-r which the could have given us, Much more significant than your 0-60 number.

By the way, I remember Yamauchi saying in an interview that the VW Scirocco was essentially ready when GT5 was first released, but they didn't manage to put it in the game in time. So, it's safe to say that they've held back this car for a year.
Glad i wasnt the only one who remebered that, We need tracks man, There are too few good tracks in thi game, When the ps4 is out and we get our first gt-r game on it whoops i mean gt6 (or gt7) the media will talk of gt5 as one huge failure from start to finish (Not from a financial point of view)

I'm super thankful that they are giving us 2 Vee Dubs. That was totally unexpected! And the R versions!!! That Scirocco is HOT!

The R35 is ok. I'm not into the JDM thing myself, but I love cars in general. I also understand that GT has always been focused on Nissan. So it will be a nice addition to the GTR Collection. I must admit that GTR looks sexy in blue.

The Scion will be a nice addition, too bad we won't have the Toyota version here in the Americas.

And the Mini looks fine. Though I still enjoy more the 2005 RHD model that was already in the game :)

Disaster...I am very disappointed

I am very disappointed
5 cars of which:
1 other karts.
1 other GT-R
1 more Toyota FT 86
1 more Golf
1 Scirocco, the engine very similar to golf

No tracks
is ridiculous.

The patch is almost useless and the online is ridiculous and almost unplayable. :(

You have no idea how difficult it might be for PD to be constantly releasing this stuff. Even though it might be just bussiness for them, it really seems like they care for their fandom. Lets be greatful.

And what's wrong with the cars? Why do you play GT5 for, to ride bicycles? And last time I checked, we have a BUNCH of tracks, plus a track editor.

I believe its pd that have caused the hate for it, Its like a friend who keeps talking and going on and on about that one girl he's obsessed with and you just want to hit him over the head with a frying pan to shut him up for once, I dont hate the gt-r but i could happily live without ever seeing another rendition in any game ever thanks to pd.

The update is going to be great itself, but the 4 cars are a joke. $4 for four cars, one being another GTR, and the other 3 being FWD. Cant wait to change the rims on the standard cars. Wonder if it'll be like GT4 or if they will use the rims that can be put on the premiums. Also the, "Improved racing sound effects" I hope has to deal with the car audio.

They hit the one million mark iirc

Hmm ok, so if this DLC sells as good as the first one they've got a turnover of 1.000.000,- per car to cover the expenses to design one and making a little bit of profit. Question now is does it cost almost 1 million to design a computer model of a car?

Will the DLC be locked to one account like the last DLC ?

Given that this latest update will allow the original DLC to be used by all accounts on the PS3 with a free "Family Unlock" code, I would fully expect that this current DLC would do the same.

The first DLC cars are going to be purchaseable in the new car dealerships for those who bought the first DLC, so I imagine that the new cars will also be available to buy multiples for those who purchased the DLC.

I'm also assuming that even though you can buy them from the new car dealerships, they will still not be tradeable. The reason I say that is because, some of the newer suit and helmet styles that were part of the DLC can also be won in the game. The ones that are won during seasonals CAN be traded, but the original DLC ones CANNOT be traded.

I have no idea, But my personal theory is that pd dont want to add new cars, If they did then we would have seen them by now, I think that the're thinking is 'if we add new cars then when do we start on gt6', They could be modeling new cars now but with the intention of modeling them for gt6, By which time many people would have given up on the franchise, I know this is the last gt i buy, The only thing that will change that is if we get a proper track creator, Then im in again

The update brings some things that should have been in the disc in 1st place....with a years-plus delay, good but nothing to celebrate really.

The DLC on the other hand is absolustely/completelly/utter rubbish/BS.
1- 0 new supercars, 3 bloody borring cars and the GT-R that even though that i really love this car, GT5 will make me get sic every time that i see this car... and PD wants us to pay for the same car 10000 times.
2- 4 euros for 4 cars? the 1st DLC had 15 cars for 8 euros.
3- The 1st DLC was a complete rip-off (cause we payed for the cars that we already have just RM'ed). But the 2nd is the "Ultimate Rip-off DLC".

Last but not least....This is the kind of DLC that we are going to get every 2 months?
I ve reached my limits with PD's BS....BS over BS over BS...
The feedback section screams for more Super/Hyper cars and Tracks and what we get after 14 months? a Golf, a scirocco, a bloody mini, gtr's, karts and the same cars just rm'ed....ah yes and 1 track...not even the old tracks.....i mean go ........ PD i had enough.

If you think 4$ for 4 cars is a ripoff, I hope you don't play an EA games then :nervous:
And personally, Hypercars may be what alot want, but people like me are just happy to get what they get. If you don't like it, don't buy it and move onto a different game is all.

I'm not making stuff up, cause it's true.

Just like it is true that everyone paid for Spec II? So, not at all?

So you don't want the car pack because most of the cars are variations of cars already in the game, but then you turn around and say that they could have included more cars by making variations of what we're getting?

Does that not make sense to anyone else?

It makes perfect sense. This DLC pack is made up almost entirely of model variations of cars in the game already, which means it already didn't have the most amount of effort put into it (even less than the much-maligned first DLC pack), yet it is still just four cars. No lower versions of the Scirocco. No lower versions of the Golf VI. No lower versions of the Mini to actually justify its existence in this DLC pack (since it will be identical to the one already in the game). Just the top of the line versions of all three, of which I'm sure they will include more variations of them in future DLC.

Or Activision who charged for the 2011 Nascar cars.

Looking forward to this update and the car dlc. :) the support by Polyphony is incredible and it really has made a huge difference. Its amazing how far the game has come. The Ui is pretty ok nowadays too and many of the early flaws are gone. Now for things like unlimited paints and other enhancements. I am surprised that they did so much to GT5. I would have thought they would save stuff for GT6.

Well now, that's interesting, thanks for the find 👍

So... planning DLC long in advance, and charging $1 per car? If it were any other game... :P

I forgot about the Toyota, however, that comes free with the update. I realize we've already had the GT-86 in tuned and normal form, so I'm unsure if those could've been used as a base for this, but technically it's "new" too. I do wonder if they'll ever release the GT-86 II concept to players though, since they went through all the trouble of modelling it and making a video.

One other thing - like the last DLC pack, I hope the data for the new cars is included in the free update, so purchasing the DLC is just an unlock. It's a great way to have in-game advertising, really - I know I'd be more inclined to buy the pack if I didn't know about it until facing off with a Scirocco or '12 GT-R in a race 👍

I remember a tweet where Kaz seemed surprised that we'd want to pay for more content (just after the first DLC pack).
Also, with the SEMA thing (I think), there was a video where the Sony rep said "Kaz is against micro-transactions", so I suspect this is evidence of a poorly-fought middle-ground between what Kaz wants and what "we" (and no doubt Sony) want. I bet people will still complain that all these cars will (inevitably) appear in GT6, though.

But, a dollar per car is a touch steep, and everywhere else in the world we'll probably have to pay more than that, too.

Have to agree with much of what you have said here, so I will not purchase the DLC, on the other hand I play Forza4 too and their DLC is a lot more to my liking. I can wait on PD to give me more of what I want, and if they don't, having another choice is great. :)
