NEW EXPLOIT - Tyre "healing" without stopping

I think it would be clear who was abusing it... if you were using it to refresh your tyres then you would do it probably 3 or 4 times in a 10 lap race. Why would you turn cones on and off 3 or 4 times per race? You wouldn't...

It would take a good amount of time and man power to police all online races don't you think? Time and man power that could be used to...

It's worth noting I raced with a guy last night in a user-made championship lobby. Same car same tyres. He was able to keep his tyres fresher than mine and as a result ran lap times on a 0 stop strategy miles better than I could do. I ran a 1 stop and ended 4 seconds behind. Admittedly I lost a good 5 or so seconds throughout with small mistakes. His times were ridiculous, 10th lap of Monza he ran times I was doing on fresh tyres (about 0.7s slower than my eventual FL). Yet the replay confirmed he hadn't done this glitch! Guy is something else on worn tyres.

It's easy to assume this glitch, but it's easy to be wrong :)

I know, I'm just saying... if they wanted to they could work it. No way they will just ban anyone who ever paused an online race.

I hope they just patch it out instead. I mean I can see how some innocents could get banned over this. I remember last week I hit the options button by mistake during a race. Now while it wasn't race C, it could very well have been and I sure as hell wouldn't want to be banned for something getting triggered due to a mistake or ignorance.

The bug is not pressing the Options button.

It's pressing the Options button, do three dpad right presses, press X into Driving Options, exit out.

That isn't something that happens by accident in normal race circumstances.

I'm guessing that only a handful of races which produced strange data are being looked at each day. Hopefully everything pressed during a race is in that races data collection, and PD will look at a handful of those races each day.
Or look at players races who gained abnormal DR points from their base data.

Ah my bad. Didn't know that but still like it was pointed out turn on or off cones or markers etc would also trigger the glitch?

It would yes, as you pause the game then enter the options menu... but the point remains, as I said, that you wouldn't turn cones on and off several times per race in every 10 lap race you do.

So if you access driving options during a race you should be banned.

No. See above.

It sure seems odd wanting people to be banned and expecting PD to do all this lobby cop stuff when all they need to do is fix the damn bug.
I'm not campaigning for bans. I was just pointing out to those who claimed it would mean anyone who accessed the Options menu would be banned, that it is easy to determine the difference between accessing Options to change a setting and intentionally doing it simply to refresh tyres.

So if you access driving options during a race you should be banned.
If PD were to watch the OP video, I think they would deem it ban worthy> especially as nothing is being changed in the driving options. It was exploited to steal a win from the OP.

If you wanted to change driving options, you would do it during warm up or the 1st few laps of the race, there would be no defense to 'changing driving options' every time your tires are anything but perfect.

Exactly

It does not work that way.
A: PD needs to fix this (or any other) bug
B: PD has to ban people that are exploiting this bug (or other) to gain an unfair advantage.
So they have to do both, not just one of those.

I need to find this rule book you're reading from.

PD actually does not need to fix this, or ban people, or both. They should fix this and ban serious offenders as they are alerted to them. I can see this as a witch hunt and I can also see PD overacting in a sweeping fashion because they simply do not have the means to decide things on a case by case basis.

Using a glitch or bug to gain an advantage is something that should get you banned. It does not matter if you do that one time or 1000 times. Its against their policy.
Serious offenders should get a life ban.
Less "serious offenders" should get a nice long suspension in order to "learn" a lesson.
There is no witch hunt.Only clean drivers and dirty drivers.
You seem to be kinda defensive of the people getting banned for exploiting the game's bugs.

For a quick patch they only should disable the options button in the options menu while in a online race. Or just don't save/reset disabled settings when closing the options screen.

After reading the thread now everything becomes clear to me. I was very much struggling keeping position on dragon trail the other day. I thought that Huracan is so much faster. After that I tried keeping position in a Huracan but I guess much people would have used this bug.

I hope they will fix it soon, and I hope they will not ban people. PD just delivered a very buggy game, with lots of flaws, navigation errors in menu's, crashes after watching a replay, race engine errors, corrupt penalty system, etc.. I now understand why the game was this cheap. The game is just not finished yet :(

..........

Oh they should ban people.Using a bug to gain an unfair advantage is still cheating.People should not do that.In case they do they they deserve their bad.

-BTW I remember when people where: Pcars 2 is a joke, full of bugs game.GTS is so much better, bugs free and super polished.Where are they now?But thats off topic.-

It amazes me that this glitch isn't seen the same way that the pit lane glitch is.

EDIT : actually there was more honor to using the pit lane glitch, as it wasn't a sneaky slimy glitch.

That's how to exploit it. The bug is that disabled settings are saved after closing the options screen. One unit test can solve this problem for once and for all..

It's basically the same, the benefit is less but it's clearly wrong and definitely ban worthy.

I feel you, but there is no way how to accomplish this. You can't ban people for going to the options menu while racing with tyre wear on. You may do that and you may do that several times. Impossible to ban people for this..

*sigh*

There is accessing the options menu during a race to change an option and there is accessing it 3 or 4 times in a Daily C without making any changes. There is a huge and obvious difference.

Edit: I can't even think of an option worth changing during a race (causing your car to 'autodrive' at pedestrian pace)

They would not be banning/suspending people for going into the options menu.
They would be suspending peoples accounts for deliberately exploiting an unintentional bug to gain an unfair advantage.

This is against the ToS of both SONY's online service and the game itself.

Thankfully I've yet to be in a race where someone was using the glitch (I've gone thru the replays to confirm). But it's going to be really frustrating for a person like me. For instance I normally run fuel map 5-6 for the first 3 laps, drive conservatively to save tires only pit for a tire change or sometimes not pit at all thus gaining at least 6 positions. This glitch would frustrate the heck out of me if more people start using it.

Better to go low (1 or 2) for at least 1 lap first to establish a position, before switching to higher :). Otherwise everyone just overtakes you on lap 1
