But why? Didn't they show the Daytona logo in the track selection in one of the very first trailers? Or is this specific layout something special?
It's a new layout that hasn't featured in Gran Turismo before. It's not that special compared to the older road course layout but it is new.

As Dave says - and I noted in the article - this particular version is the current Road Course as used in NASCAR. It includes the bus stop chicane on the back street, used for sports car and (in a slightly different configuration) motorbike races, and the 2020 NASCAR chicane just before the finish line.

In GT6 we had the same circuit (and the oval) but without the 2020 chicane. Because it was released in 2013

The previous Daytona logo and track as seen in GT7 only showed the oval. Or rather tri-oval.

It looks amazing! And by the way, the lines through the video really confirms Apricot Hill💥
I guess I wasn't the only one who saw this
EDIT: There are additional lines that didn't fit the Daytona Road Course layout, am taking screenshots to provide evidence

So no ray tracing in game? That’s a bummer, if true. Just give me 1440p upscale with raytracing instead of native 4k. More options is always better than less. Insomniac’s approach should be a gold standard and an expectation from first party studios at this point.
Not even being dramatic, but I would probably play a 720p 60fps ray traced mode over a 4k mode without it.

I love this multiclass race, VGT vs GR3 vs GR1
They also showed multi-class racing in the first few GTS trailers, so I'm not gonna put my eggs in that basket just yet.

That being said, I would like to talk about how good that Lexus looks here

If that's true go for it, there were suggestions of Apricot Hill in another video as well. Just make sure you don't force lines that match Daytona to fit what you want to see. I'd like you to be right.

If the 428 final car count is true, we have 46 out of 90 new cars shown.

Out of these 46, only 9 are Japanese. Here's hoping that out of the 44 cars left, at least half are Japanese.

My JDM fan self is a little bit apprehensive.
Maybe these car's number are work in progress. PD normally shows the game in state as it is when captured. Until GT7 gets its gold version, maybe this number can get a little higher.

BOSS 429 ...baby....no one talking about that.

Guess does not matter, expect same low quality sound and mediocre arcade physics.

Should make for some great photos though.

I think Kaz mentioned 120 fps at some point in the past. Personally I would prefer higher frame rate versus more pixels.

I've mentioned it more than a few times. Also, wanting to know if we can tune it to Trans-Am specs with the period look.

Now we know it at least comes in two colors. Guessing it's Wimbledon White in the trailer. Hopefully all the colors below.

My dream car since junior high. Did get a 69 Mach One after college, but that was long ago. That would be really good if they allow ya to "R" mod it to T/A race specs. It is a shame that the race challenger and race camaro from GT6 did not get put in GTS. Heck race mod period similar to GT2 would be grand.

The cars look way more bouncy to me. Like there is way more visual work going on with the suspension model. The lighting seems to be miles beyond what Sport was produced. Which was amazing in its own right, but the lighting in 7
It could be replays. As it's confirmed ray tracing is in replays only.

The first 1920s car in Gran Turismo!:gtpflag:

As soon as as this won the Pebble Beach award I wanted this in a GT game so bad.
March 4th can’t come soon enough.
What makes this car special ?

We’ll see what we get and can do, in the next two months.

I agree with your hope.

I don't get the appeal

Before the merge between Daimler and Benz, Daimler produced the Mercedes Type 630 luxury car on the Model K chassis. Once Daimler and Benz merged to create the Mercedes-Benz brand in 1926, the decided to create a race car by using the best features of the Model K chassis. The engine of the K featured an “on demand” supercharger where it would only be engaged with full throttle. The new car was called the S-Series. It was much lighter than the 630 and dominated motorsports in its day. The car featured in the game has the SK’s 7.0L in-line six which produces 180hp with the supercharger engaged with almost 500 lb ft of torque.

Here is a sound clip that demonstrates the on-demand supercharger:
