New GT Vision cars are incredibly trashy

The Volkswagen Vision GT looks extremely similar to the Citroen GT and personally I'm disappointed. Same goes for the Mercedes Benz Vision GT. And the BMW Vision GT was... I really don't know. It was nothing special at all.

I think we all had our hopes up with Vision GT, seeing the awesome sketches, but it's not going well at the moment. The one Vision GT car I'm excited for is the Alfa Romeo one. It looks amazing in the sketch. If it doesn't turn out well, I think I'll eat a walrus to calm my anger.

*le epic sigh* I hope things turn out well for Vision GT. Thoughts?

EDIT: I'm also curious as to how Daihatsu's Vision GT turns out...

I hope the Alfa looks like the Citroen.

You're absolutely mad.

Thats because they don't really put much time into concepts for video games, it doesn't really sell cars or generate press.

They are going to save their good/proper concepts from the real world, for car shows and to promote a future model or design language... thats where it matters.

I guess... then at least they shouldn't hand us these incredibly epic sketches to give us false hope, eh?

Personally, I don't know what you're on about. That VW looks nothing like the GT by Citroen. VW's sharper and more aggressive. Plus that big grille and those side vents only show how purpose built it is. They probably look similar for a reason-because that design is efficient to reach unprecedented straight-line and corner speeds.

The thing about GT you people seem to forget is that this stuff is supposed to be a driving simulator. That means the designs for each and every car, even the fictional ones are supposed to be plausible and believable. By car standards, the vision GT cars look pretty damn striking, they look nothing like a car on the road today. And let's face it, every sketch of a car is just that- a sketch. When you put it in the wind tunnel and see the efficiency of a million sharp edges, you're gonna wanna go back and smooth it out to keep that airflow going as intended.

So say what you will, I dig each and every vision GT car. I think it's really cool that all these car makers are making their own takes on what they believe a really cool racing car or supercar would be.

Can't entirely agree with Fifty either.

I'm not impressed with the Volkwagen Vision Gran Turismo (or whatever) because its upper proportions are tiny compared to its huge doors, ect, and no roof.

BMW, sure, not really a Vision Gran Turismo, but still a good car. The Mercedes I don't see why anyone would really have any complaints, it looked pretty good, drove pretty amazingly, I think that's job done.

I also think that the Alfa sketches, are far from their best work.

I'd say most of all, the Citroen GT actually looked how a concept car should in many ways, and ultimately not like the roofless Volkwagen Vision Gran Turismo, which I personally would've rather had the concept car 'Vision GTI'

I think the Vision GT is just 'oh, well lets hit it with an andvil and cut the roof off, then it looks completely different!'.

Im baffled. They are free cars. And i actually will really love the VW VGT GTI if it has a detailed interior it Will be our first one.

A good step towards Audi, Lambo, toyota etc. Those cars will be amazing no doubt. Allowing audi to create a car at free will makes me smile just thinking about it.

Have better optomism. Only the Mercedes VGT falls flat.

*le epic sigh*

This is why we can't have nice things.

Also, What did you expect from a program with such explanatory definitions as:

A bold glimpse into the future

provide a window into the future of automotive design

The Vision GT project offers a great opportunity to flesh out extreme ideas and portray the Volkswagen GTI’s design elements as vividly, dynamically and emotionally as possible

'Trashy' can describe any sort of concept car, which is what Vision GT is, it's not a totally dedicated, technical design showcase. It's supposed to be extreme designs that do not conform to regulations. The BMW one was a bit grounded realistically, but even when it didn't look like the other 2 you still complain about it being 'nothing'.

Did you just want regular road cars? There's plenty of them in the game.

I'm looking forward to the VW personally, I sort of liked the BMW, the thing I didn't like about it was it gets a bit twitchy at times on the ring, and doesn't have an adjustable transmission…looks pretty amazing though. The previous generation M3 base race car handles like a dream…

I don't really use the VGT cars, not really my cup of tea.

I will admit though, I quite like the look of the Merc. It's "uniqueness" appeals to me.

The BMW on the other hand, does nothing for me. It looks like a standard BMW coupe of the last 10 years with a crazy body kit on it. I'm quite sure Veilside or RWB could come up with something quite similar (and probably pull it off better )

It's a bit strange, as I usually love BMW, and usually have little interest in Mercedes.

Trashy? That seems like an odd description. I like the VGT cars so far. For me it was:

Merc: Sweet!
BMW: Meh
VW: Sweet!!

I want concept cars to be a little wild, that's why I was kind of 'meh' about the BMW, it looks like a BMW with a wide body kit to me. Nothing incredibly special but I still like it. I'm just glad we're getting cars at this point. For months I really didn't think we'd see anything beyond the Merc!

I LOVE them so much!
Mercedes Benz VGT was fantastic! a superb futuristic car that I want to look at it for hours!
BMW VGT is a very beautiful car, but I think its not really a concept car.
VW VGT is awesome too.
We only got 3 VGT cars from about 30 cars! there are lots of great companies that will release their cars in the future and all of them will be free like these 3 cars. I think this project is one of the best things that PD did in years.
