New GT Vision cars are incredibly trashy

The Merc was ridiculous, with eight exhausts, a gigantic brake light and even larger wheels. I loved that bastard.
The Bimmer, while nice, was a bit too racy for me.
This Volkser though, seems absolutely over the top.

The Mercedes VGT is one of the ugliest bubbles I've ever seen.
The BMW looks ok but nothing like the first sketches wich just created bigger expectations.
The VW is ugly, but I can at least tell it's still a car rather than the Mercedes.

Removed what? I implied that Namco might sue if car companies gets "inspired" by Ridge Racer.
I think he's saying they can't make the cars look like them because of copyright. Your picture's fine. I think.

Treed
Oh, than I misunderstood then. Nooooo the pic! It's GOOOOOOONE Whahahaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Mercedes would like to have a word with you.
There's "generating press," which is a natural occurrence when public reaction takes hold of something (a concept car or an engineer interview or whatever) and spread it far and wide as buzz continues about it unabated until the manufacturer finally says something about it; and there's "releasing press releases," when Jalopnik and other blogs paraphase official press materials prepared by the company in question for a few cheap web hits before moving on to the next thing. The Mercedes Vision GT was notable for all of a week before automotive sites forgot everything about it and went back to talking about the Mercedes AMG GT as they had been before. The BMW didn't even get that much attention, despite that one apparently actually offering a rather clear view towards a future BMW model. The only time that any of the Vision GT cars have generated buzz by themselves is when that company in Florida said that they were going to try to build a handful of Vision GTs on the AMG SLS; and even that was a once occurrence since no one has actually cared to do any followup. The Citroen by GT also had quite a lot of legitimate buzz in the actual auto industry when Citroen said they would consider building it.

The Vision GT cars in comparison have popped up out of the blue on car blogs and vanished just as quickly, because most of the time the "news" of them have been rather blatantly just advertisements for GT6 so thinly veiled that it's hard to tell whether the manufacturer wrote them or Sony did; rather than something that holds actual relevance to people whose main interest is the car industry itself. If PD/Sony want to really salvage something to make people stand up and take notice of this event they were calling unprecedented rather than it just being a stunt, they need to offer something to the actual automotive press beyond "be sure to try out the car exclusively in Gran Turismo 6, available now on PS3!"

I'm bored of them. Why can't they look like Ridge Racer models!?

Maybe Bertone design will be like Ridge Racer car ?

I have seen Mercedes VGT promo video shown on some Asian TV channel news, they even cover GT6 and showed the same video as in the game. I think the VW will be shown at some point when it debut in a motor show perhaps.

Oooo I hope your right, it looks really good. Same with the Alpine. :D

i'm waiting for Lambo, Audi, SRT, Toyota and Subaru, wait.. Lamborghini is in the VGT project too right ?

the Golf GTI VGT looks great but it's just feel like they could do more than that. It looks like a sketched up, custom mk7 Golf GTI. I was hoping for a completely different Golf design for reference in future models.

Calling them "incredibly trashy" is a bit much - but there is a point here. The cars DO look a little "lowres". The reason being the fact that the companys just dont have all that time for detail they use in actual models. This can be seen in most of the irl concept cars so its even more so the same case with a game. It would take them hundreds of hours more to design all the small details they have in final models. Just check things like lighting in new cars. Many of them have more details in a head lamp that a whole VGT car has. This is what makes VGT cars look a little bit unfinished or toy-ish. For this reason im happy BMW used parts of an actual production car - that gives the car a bit more detail. (but the sides/top of the BMW VGT is still pretty undetailed)

that said - Im happy with the VGT cars. They are what I expected - a vision of an actual car. Gives a little "outside the box" edge to otherwise pretty down to earth game. :)👍

I have a bad feeling that the Vw GT Vision will sound like what the Merc GT Vision sounds like when it *has the Racing exhaust installed.

I'm kind of with the OP on this one. I wouldn't go so far as to say they're trashy, not at all in fact, but I am just not very interested in concept cars. Never have been, never will be. That said, I think the Citreon is a very good looking car.

I agree that the Merc and VW do look trashy and really similar to the Citroen GT. I like the BMW, though but then, I'm not excited for the VGT cars. No interior and they are fantasy cars after all. I want real cars.

The Volkswagen Vision GT looks extremely similar to the Citroen GT and personally I'm disappointed. Same goes for the Mercedes Benz Vision GT. And the BMW Vision GT was... I really don't know. It was nothing special at all.

I think we all had our hopes up with Vision GT, seeing the awesome sketches, but it's not going well at the moment. The one Vision GT car I'm excited for is the Alfa Romeo one. It looks amazing in the sketch. If it doesn't turn out well, I think I'll eat a walrus to calm my anger.

*le epic sigh* I hope things turn out well for Vision GT. Thoughts?
Great, another whining thread... for no reason. The VGT are good.
And th VW Vision GT looks NOTHING loke the Citroen GT. Nothing.

The Mercedes is so sleek and streamlined, it's like a 1950's SLS AMG, and I love every single angle of it

The BMW has a beautiful livery, and even though it looks nothing like the initial sketch, it just flows together so well. Every line of the car seems connected.

The VW though? Wild. I love it. Razor sharp lines, a very Hotwheels looking design, I can't wait to shoot it.

I love every VGT car, and will no matter what. They're just so wild and so beautiful I really cannot wait until the next one drops. But then again, I'm a person who'd do anything to have an Egoista or Veneno.

Speaking of that, Lamborghini's VGT... Cannot wait.

So he's not allowed to dislike the VGT without you saying he's whining? Perhaps leave him to his opinion and if you disagree, you express yours.
