@Stonemonkey

How do you know that?

Well, there are four possibilities:

a) He's an insider, and thus knows things we don't
b) He's just searching for the enlightment, so he's guessing
c) He's kidding, since this thread is spouting news like a talking whale /sarcasm
d) Chuck Norris told him in his 70th b'day

I would take the b). ;)

You heard that too.
For Chuck Norris there is nothing like lifeyears, he´s just leveling up :P

Forget about 500.000 polys. We all know how good CAN be 192.000 looking - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fIqRk6pYQ8

Have 200 000 poly for external car render is all suffisant for good seeing, but if P-D use more it's because they'r interior making, engine making, and more, and i think, if we can see this cars parts falling they need make all side parts for realisme, and im sure than it's not finish, and the damages can be more realist than we can see yet.

For Grid damage it's ok (so, so) but car reaction in space and in the air is absolutly not realiste, i have impression too see a soap jumping on bath.

They sure have a long way to go with this damage engine. I didnt even think it was turned on at first. Long way to go. The first 5 or 6 hits nothing at all happened. Not even a scratch or dent. Was that set to "limited" damage? :scared: Looks like the physics still have a ways to go too.

Physics are fine. These videos are from an earlier build, more than likely not the final damage engine.

Anyone notice there are way more tyre barriers now at turn 1? Obviously a more recent build here!

there will probably be a damage scaling option for sure, and between the different physics modes

The Toyota FT-86 isn't a racing car so it will have just a superficial damage!!

Is it just me, or is anybody else completely underwhelmed by the more recent damage we have seen? If that's all they have managed to achieve so far, just panels coming loose yet staying shiny and in perfect shape, they might as well not bother. Scaling damage you say? Really, well the slider must be stuck on 1.

Personally, I think damage is the sole reason for the delay.

SCREW damage, I NEVER crash anyway, waste of time and effort.

The damage is certainly one of the reasons, and you're right, what has been shown thus far is quite underwhelming, although better than nothing I suppose, but on the other hand, I feel confident that this is not the final build, and also other features of the game are being either toned down, or not shown for greater effect when it's actually released.
My 2 cents.

eh?? The great majority wouldn't agree with you, I'm quite sure of it, and that includes PD, who are implementing it right now! Nuff said.

First of all to me the damage (we've seen so far) is fair ahead of forza and it's magical "oh you bumped into someone, here are some generic deformation and scratches". But that's not the point. All of what we've seen so far seems pretty dated and you have to realize even if this demo "seems" new it's just a recollection of all the demos they've had at previous main press/gaming events. So that's nothing new, it's just the fact that they put it together and label it as 2010 that's new.

Just my 2 cents. Either way, we'll see :)

I had a nice spin in front of a pack of AI cars on Prologue the other night. One car (Viper) juuuuuust barely missed me as I spun in front of him and off into the sand.

I saved the replay. It was fun to watch the replay from the Viper's perspective. :D

Given that how little has been officially announced, I fail to see how you think that I'm forgetting something. They show what they show, nothing more, nothing less. I'm not expecting, and nor do I want, a "stripped out" example of the final game as yet another demo. I just want the game when it is ready.

Well there are plenty of confirmed features that we barely saw and others that we haven't seen at all. Weather, night racing, deformation damage, tracks, cars, etc... These demos show none of those so I don't see how they could take away from the novelty of the final game, as you claimed.

Besides, you may not be interested in those demos but other people are. Should they not be allowed to play them because you don't care about them?

Netherlands based GTHQ contacted Sony about this demo and the response from Sony is that this demo is not intended for private use, but that maybe they will soon come with news regarding the issue.

Oh I'm absolutely positive it's not the final build, but it would be nice to get told what things really represent. I actually disagree that "something is better than nothing", because that's not always true, especially when that "something" has not been implemented very well at all.

People see this as moaning and whining, but I just see it as stating things as they are given the facts we know. They can be as diplomatic about it as they like, but I'm not going to like something just because it is by Kaz and is part of the GT franchise. Sure, the final game will be better, but the lack of concrete news about what is/isn't in the game is only hurting their PR.

Which can perfectly mean an announcement like "The demo is for promotional purposes and won't be available to the public, suck it GT fans. Regards PD". :grumpy:

I saw this on another forum and just had to use it. lol I am hoping it will be better in final game.

They know we are hungry. They are showing us the exact bits here and there. Just as much as they want. Dirty game... But I hope the main banquet will be tasty.

Just release it and let more features, cars and tracks slip into GT6 then. Thanks, PD.

You do realise that "soon" is a Sony marketing euphemism for "You might hear from us again at some point in the next couple of years but don't count on it"

What I want to know is if they have fixed the oversteer physics. Please take a road car and then try doing some donuts, then some power over drifts and see if they are controllable and whether they flow nicely.

I agree 100%. Plus I'm convinced we have to put up with this endless pathetic GT5 release saga thanks to all those who want Gt to become a perfect Real Car Wrecking Simulator.

thanks then 👍

I just went into my local blockbuster and they have the GT5 promo boxes all over the store. They have 30th april release. Anyone else seen the promo stuff??

sorry posted in wrong thread
