Sven, it's ingame
gt4imps_6.jpg

Look at the mirror in this pic. Same with the one you all are debating on.

Look at the mirror. See the red and white strip on the left of the car, not the strip is on the right in the mirror. That is the same with the first pic.

Just look closely again, the wall is there (on the right), just darker, and the dark forest is on the left, which is correct. Maybe the curbs are to small to be visible in the mirror. (BTW I don't see curbs on the right side of the mirror)

As for the mirror, I wasn't referring to any dots or turns, but to what side of the track is shown on what side of the mirror. For example, look what side of the road the spectators are on in front of you, then think of what side they should be on in the mirror. Now look at the mirror. It's backwards. And don't even try telling me that they're on the other side of the track behind you. Notice the brown sidewalk on the beach side of the track.

Like I said, it's a good mock-up for demonstration purposes, but probably not an actual in-game capture.
On the first point, somone else said they were ASM and TCS earlier in this thread, thats where I got it from. As for the mirror I see what your talking about now, I never noticed the pavements and raillings ect on the wrong sides I just saw the corner was the same direction as the one behind the blue dot, my bad.:banghead: .

in the gauges it looks as if there is a little fuel thing on the far bottom right... I may be mistaken, but if not, does this mean there is fuel in this game?

P.S. Which search engine for foreign words/phrases/languages you tried?

Bok, thanks for the response, to the both of you!

I use www.altavista.com for all of my translation needs. It has a lot of different languages to choose from since they updated it about month ago.

Before this thread turns into another "let's bash on CobraGT!" thread, welcome the newest member of the GTPlanet family, from the nation of Croatia. Then looking at the Hong Kong and Amalfi pictures, each new picture I see of GT4 makes me want it more. I mean, screw Halo 2, screw Doom 3, even screw Metal Gear Solid 3 when I say this, GT4 is the game I'm most looking forward to. One-on-one matches on Amalfi and maybe even Citta di Aria would be awesome.

As far as the Heads-Up Display (HUD) goes, I actually kind of like it. I think it looks more stylish for an already-stylish game. I think GT4 hasn't any alcohol and tobacco banning issues because as you see in the Hong Kong pictures, you see TsingTao Beer. So two things about the Hong Kong picture. Number one, it may not be the Shibuya district of Tokyo, Japan, but I think Hong Kong will actually be a quite colorful track and a welcome challenge. And number two, if you happen to be a female reading this, I don't know if you can take pictures of your car in front of a Guess clothing store. And you'll be racing, so you'll have to race first, then spend your money on some Guess clothing. It's not an insult, I'm just joking around as usual. Anyhow, and by the way, Amalfi should be awesome. In strange ways, the front straight with all the buildings facing the water, reminds me of the buildings facing the water in Rage Racer (1996). Then just racing on a tropical-style track reminds me of Ridge Racer V (1999?). But the racing experience will FAR exceed both of the Namco race titles I've mentioned.

I thought my interest level in GT4 was dropping with all the delays - but now with all this E3 footage and stuff ....holy crap. November can't come soon enough!

Ugh - wait a second. What if they put in some 20 lap race of the Nurburgring with the Toyota Vitz? :)

It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I could care less if the mirrors in these photos are "backwards". You guys analyze too much! :D

-Andy

They're right though, so it's a bit odd. I'd rather my mirror not be backwards in the real thing of course but perhaps it's just designed to make it more challenging.

I still see the odd website slating GT4 for a July release :P Some people don't keep up with the times. Electronics Boutique has Doom3 slated for September apparently.

I prefer the yellow to the white actually, the current HUD just doesn't look as serious, but one wonders just how pedantic we can get if we're reducing to picking on HUD colours and styles.

Oh and I wholy expect 20 laps around the Nurburgring in something abyssmally slow. Just because PD are sadists.

8th August is the ONLY acceptable date.

You should all go check out skunkwerx's Nurburgring vid for a working rear vision mirror and the HUD in action, it's pretty good.

EDIT: never mind found it, sorry.

im loving the lateral G's gauge. i hope they have the skidpad ratings in the car stat screens.

See, we get on a random tangent about birthday related releases and discover who shares birthdays, it's called bonding, or something like that.

I got GT3 and my PS2 on the 10th of August 2001, 2 days after my birthday was the earliest it was available - I still have the giant red box it all came in.

A Rio: The file is 165 or so MB, well under your cap.

Okay, I can host it for you if you want, but if i'm not wrong it is allready uploaded here: https://www.gtplanet.net/uploads/skunkwerx/

But I may be wrong.

I guess I just want to reflect on how much the GT series has evolved. GT4 will surely be the best GT ever until GT5's release. The variety of tracks and such are amazing. And as I've said, if there is something that's been discussed before but I've never seen it, it's new to me. Like look at the "Gran Turismo Resorts" topic. I never seen such photos, but I'm awfully amazed with the progress of this project. It may have taken a long while to make the game, but it's kind of worth the wait.

Now, back to the pictures. Some people don't like how the HUD looks, but I like it. GT3 looks a little better, but I'm pretty sure the retail game won't make the HUD look like something substandard for an already-impressive video game. I kind of like the change in font (letter styling) in the Gran Turismo 4 pictures in question. Going to Arial. But, I think GTPlanet should be the true source of GT4 news. A lot of pictures and features. Day by day, we learn something new about GT4. I'm glad you can support the efforts of Yamauchi Kazunori and Polyphony Digital. It may still be a while before we even get an American version of Prolouge (or it may never happen). But in any way, no offense, but I'd rather play the game than see pictures. Heck, I can deal with a $19.82 or even $9.99 demo of Prologue like those Jampacks you can buy for PS2, which feature all sorts of game demos and stuff.
Question is, I haven't yet decided what cars would look nice for a good picture. And where to shoot.
