New PS3 slim in August? Isn't it widely speculated this is what PD is waiting for?

Not to add to speculation but.......

Plenty of people have been saying the PS3 Slim will come out same time as
GT5.

yea it's the new 45nm chip I think. question is though, wouldn't sony have made an official statement by now. and the TGS being in september, shouldn't they have announced it at E3?

How many existing 'big' PS3's are currently waiting to be sold, maybe that's why some of the new bundles available are pretty good value?

erm, and why do you think so???

i mean the psone and the pstwo (slim-thingys) were not buggy at all. they actually produced less heat which made them more reliable. i think we can expect that from a ps3 slim as well (not that my ps3 stopped working once within 2 years of massice abuse )

not afraid at all about that... and there will be a price drop for the old version if the rumors are true coz' they will have to get rid of them

I was hoping for the PS3 slim to indicate a bundle, but my bet's on it being too soon to indicate GT5 coming with it. I mean, it's not typical to release a blockbuster title a month after announcing it.

And slightly off topic, why would it be buggy? The software is going to be the same, there won't be any additional bugs there. And the die shrink means less power use (smaller, cooler power supply) and less heat emission. In the past, I can specifically think of slim playstations actually fixing problems (I'm thinking specifically of the faulty optical drive in the original PS2).

Sony are coming out fighting this gen that's for sure, with revised PS3 and PSP hardware.

It's undoubtedly the case that PD are waiting for the slim, although I think it makes more sense to launch the slim PS3 at the same time as releasing GT5...although who knows what the plan is.

Its not exactly true to say GT5 has only been announced for 1 month. I bought GT5 Prologue over a year ago and downloaded the Japanese GT5 Prologue Demo almost 2 years ago now.
I know what you mean and agree with you that a normal major title would have a longer build up period from when it is confirmed, but GT5 isnt a 'normal' title, we've arguably already had 3 demos if you count GT HD as one.

I would say it's possible,they waited for the PsP go (a slim PsP) to release GT mobile,so launching GT5 with a slim Ps3 could help sell the system.

Also, I expect new PS Stores and a 100-150$ price drop (if my phat model chokes because of the dust).

Today I thought "Damn a new Playstation system without a full GT is like a new Nintendo system without any Mario game"...

How would it be if Nintendo brings a new system and wait with an Mario game release for 3-5 years!?

Crazy Sony/PD politics... I know the PS3 is a next gen console and the wii is like an PS2... And it takes more time to produce an next gen title...

Hope Sony will do it better with the PS4...

-It Says in the lowest part of the Box, PlayStation 3, and actually that doesnt exists, the PLAYSTATION 3 does exists, because Sony was tired of lazy People not writing the capital letters.

-the other PS3 Logo, is not the official one too, so another reason to believe its not a PS3

I belive thats maybe a Chinese Knock-Off product or an Early Prototype of PS3...Though its possible we may see a new PS3 this year, or at least a Price Drop.

Think what you want, but that picture surfaced alongside the leaked packaging for the now confirmed PSP announced at E3.
