The miata race struck one off the list, next skyline/RX7/mitsu 3kGT's. Not that I'm complaining, I'd like to do those all.

Looking forward to the updated OCD. Wonder what comes next?

A load of crap again probably!!

Just golded London by .888 sec, had to change the oil (400pp) on my 07 cooper and switch to sport mediums to do it tho. Kudos to those who can ace this with s stock car

After many tries, alas manage to gold London in sports hard with juz ecu tuning n racing filter. Only autumn ring mini remains for sports hard challenge. Using sports soft or better even with stock certainly negate any challenge. I am doubtful all races can be done with comfort soft so for those who find it easy, hopefully u can prove me wrong.

I managed to do them all on Sports hards apart from London and Autumn ring, couldn't get close to 1st place so I got some stickier rubber for them. I enjoyed these seasonals though. Everyone who thinks there boring are probably using Racing softs and superchargers, off course its going to be boring if you do that. De-tune your car, some less sticky tyres and voila, there you have it, a fun competitive race.

True, race specs recommend that Sports Hard are what the competition will be going with - so no shame there :)

I've done them all on S1 except London and Autum Ring, they needed S2s just for the retention of traction, aided by custom suspension and transmission.

As a slight aside - I wish they'd reduce Trial Mountain to 3 or maybe 4 laps - 5 is far longer than any of the others, making it easy to get into first place.

As if this wasn't easy enough I have a mini tune that handles so well it feels like your going 200mph to at least give it some excitement. Click sig

Agreed, its far to long. I was on my too quickly so I ended up trying to roll my car on the last turn  Eventually I rolled it on the last lap and won the race by 0.9 seconds

Go take the stock `98 Mini on Sports Hard to Trial Mountain and try it again ;)

I found this seasonal to be a pleasant surprise. Used my '98, and it took many tries at London. Great challenge there. Stay off the curbs! In the end, massive toe and open LSD did the trick.

the races wheren't that bad, i made my mini right at the 450 limit cuz i needed the extra cash quick. can you redo these races and win the money again or is it 1 time only, i cant remember.

One of the things I like about GT is that it let's me experience things that teach me about high performance driving which I could never learn any other way. Case in point, the Autumn Ring Mini race.

For me this race is all about tires. To win, you need to be able to produce laps of 43.xx seconds. On sports hard tires I cannot produce that lap time regardless of what I do to the car. More horsepower doesn't help because time is defined in the corners on this track, and I haven't found any series of tuning characteristics that allows me to produce laps of 43.xx, the best I can do is 44.xx.

Switch to sports medium and I can turn laps of 42.xx and win gold.

I'm sure there are skilled drivers who can get a Mini around the Autumn Ring mini course in 43.xx on sports hard but this challenge has taught me how sometimes one element of performance dominates the rest and cannot be overcome by clever combinations of tuning.

i already had my Cooper S sitting in the garage tuned to 450PP so that was no trouble at all , then i also tuned the '98 to 450PP at 159BHP . quite entertaining these two...

i hope the next update will be something more challenging ,
i liked the "smaller than 4.2m" challenge , maybe next time a heavyweight challenge ?

Don´t complain it´s too easy/not challenging. You forced it that way.

If you run your Cooper at 400pp or less, on sports tyres, then it actually becomes interesting.

Who's complaining ? jeeezz....

challenging in the meaning of : choice of more possible cars 2 enter, means also more cars you can set up for that event,
means also more time i spend on my Playstation....

savvy ?

Just a little OT:

For the seasonal i used the 98 mini, nearly complete maxed out (midrange turbo insted of high range). I detuned it to 140hp and round 650kg, but that mini is so SLOW :ill:

Tried it fully modded on Döttinger Höhe...170+ HP custom transmission and a weight of 650kg....it barely reached 202 KM/H. That is a joke on that hp/weight ratio :scared:

How is that possible? With that stats, the mini should race like a rocket :grumpy:

Maximum speed is mainly attributed to hp, transmission and drag coefficient. As such, high hp/weight mainly helps with acceleration/cornering and going uphill. The air resistance remains similar for a similarly shaped car regardless of weight. Btw did u set the max speed on the custom transmission? 200-220kph sounds about right for mini at 170hp. with drafting it can go faster.

Yeah, max speed was set to round 220 kph.

A VW golf II with 170hp would easy go past 200 kph......so the minis problem are the aerodynamics? Maybe also the small wheels?

Indeed. I found Trial Mountain and the Kart track a doddle, but really struggled at London and Autumn Ring - why is that, different driving technique required?

Faster driving technique required ( or a faster car ) because the tracks are shorter than the others.
London and AR Mini´s total time is around 5 minutes. The others are around 7 minutes. That means you have less time to catch up the leader. ;)

Anyone else thinks Minis handle like crap? I hated the new seasonals thanks to this little ff , front wheels lose traction no matter how carefull i am with the throttle..I started using the handbrake to make it turn , and it's really annoying. I'm not going to spend any money to fix it , so when i'm done with the seasonals i'm getting rid of my Mini.:grumpy:

Well, Mini is not the best car even among FF and everybody doesn't need to like it, but it is not such a crap hopelessly requiring hand-breaking to turn in.
It seems that a bunch of people manage to handle this car without serious trouble.

Oh, wait, this reminds me of an old proverb from ancient Bang Dynasty:

"Breathe deeply and meditate. Then, you will realize that sometimes a real crap has two legs, not four wheels." - Tao for Modest Drivers

Need some tips on how to win Autumn ring with sports hard. Anyone with ghost replay to share?

Sage advice indeed.

Short straights and tight corners = less chance to catch up when starting from the back, is what I think. Plus, I think personally I found London a challenge because I don't play it much.

could well be, remember the original (proper) Mini has welded seems on the OUTSIDE - I expect this creates plently of drag. Could do with a de-seam option in GT Auto:)

On topic though, I found Tsukuba quite challenging with SH tyres and 400pp in the 07 Cooper. A bit too understeery - might check out a tune.

I think London is a tough track. Pretty much all blind corners and I find that high speed left (after the straight) into braking for the long right (turn 3?) really unsettles the car; and you can lose a lot of time here if AI are in the way.

Just out of curiosity, if you have a custom transmission installed, what's your Final Drive set to..??

shocked how easy it became with the change of tires. Took the Cooper S '05 to the max with comfort tires and couldn't get closer to 7th on Autumn Ring but when I got the sports medium I was driving first after 5 rounds and finished 10secs ahead of the 2nd

grtz

Well, I don't know how skilled I am, but I finally did manage to gold this using sport/hard tires. BUT, I did cut some corners pretty badly to get that. I don't think I missed the grass on a single corner after the back straight. I probably did just barely manage to keep a tire on the track for the whole lap, but still, some might take issue with that method.

To me, this was about rhythm more than anything. I opened practice mode and ran 50+ laps. Watching my ghost car speed away from me when I made even the slightest error on the entry or exit of a turn hammered that point home. Virtually all of the corners on this tracks have to be exited with the entry of the next corner in mind. Improve your speed through a turn? Congrats, now you have to rethink your entry into the next corner (or corners). I really enjoyed the challenge.
