Welcome Nick! If you've run the WRS Qualifier also you might want to add details to your signature to make things easier.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi folks, I'm Alejandro (spanish for Alexander). I'm new to the WRS and I'm proud to be in Division 4. I hope to learn a lot from this races and hopefully makes some good mates :sly:.

See you on the track everyone.

I have now shed the tobacco reference completely and changed my GTP tag as well. I am no longer GTP_Cohiba100 but rather GTP_Anghammarad.

Allright Amghammarad  I'm curious as to what this name means though :sly:

And also welcome Alejandro. Have a good time here with this great competition. 👍

Hi Mac (LOL I thought only Scots use that name),

To join in you need to register to the GTP Registry. Check this:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111987

WRS is a friendly weekly competition for members of the Registry. You read what the combo is and play the game to set a good laptime. During the week you are encouraged to post your splits. Usually laptimes are not discussed in public. Towards the end of the week you can try to improve your laps. The new leaderboard (http://wrs.gtplanet.net/) gives a good indication where you stand. On Monday at the latest you submit your laptime to Vaxen or another moderator if he's not available. On Tuesday the results are published.
Usually on Sundays the combo for the new week is posted.

Enjoy 👍

Hi MC CAULEY

The WRS is an official GTPlanet series.

Being an official GTP race, it is required that all participants run the qualifier first.
This qualifier will place you into a division. There are currently 4 divisions with 3 sub-divisions being bronze, silver and gold.

The different divisions create races within the divisions.
Also if you win your division multiple times you will move up to the next division, with division 1 gold being the fastest.
All we win is bragging rights so to speak.
And no-one hears brags so it's more self satisfaction.

Each week the steward (currently EDK) choses a combo of a track and a car with certain rules to follow.
These range from an arcade TT, online TT (with tuning), multi lap TT's, races with AI and so on.
The stewards try to keep it interesting with various combos.

For each race a new thread is started with the race specifications and we post our split times for others to compare their times with. During the week we can post as many times as we like and then submit our final time to another online race administrator who posts the final times for all to see.
If a racer's time allows for them to be placed on the podium (1st,2nd, 3rd), they must provide the replay for other racers to check and approve it is clean and the correct specs were used.

The WRS is a great place to hone your skills.
You can ask questions about the race and get some good feedback from faster racers.
You can also watch the replays to see how they get their times and see if you are doing it the same way or if your making more than just a common mistake.

Basically the WRS is a great place to hone your skills and interact with people here at GTPlanet.

To read more about the WRS and the Registry qualifier just click the WRS in my signature below.
It will take you to the WRS page.

Opps, Steven beat me.

Hi there niss_man, good to see another "QUEENSLANDER"

Go for it MC CAULEY, nothing like good clean competition to improve.
That's why we're here 👍
And welcome :D

Hello everyone. I am also new to the series as GTP_Voltaic.

I have a couple of questions:

1. Why must we do the lap times off-line? If I'm not mistaken the ID tag will not appear in the replay if we do so.

2. How do we share the ghost replay if requested? Are there instructions anywhere?

3. I did not participate in the last race because my new ID did not have the credits to by the Ferrari F1 car. Is there a way to share the credits or the cars between PSN IDs?

Thank you.

Welcome to the Planet Voltaic

To your questions:

1.) The laps must sometimes be done offline so the competitors performances stay secret, usually at least the last sector time. That adds a bit of pokering to the whole thing, you'll too find that enjoyable sooner than later I bet. You are right, your ID is not shown, but hence you have to submit your replay if requested it's linked to your name with that post anyways... BTW: depending on the event some rounds are run online, see Week 62 e.g.

2.) look here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3180607&postcount=2

3.) There is! Doesn't help you anymore now regarding the F1, but logged in with your "old" profile you go on your entire save game ("this file contains data about your progress in GT5P and so on or similar...."), press the triangle button, select copy and select your new GTP profile. Done.

Hope this has helped you and that you enjoy your stay on the Planet!

Cheers
Ren

Edit: A warm welcome to all new members of the recent past, of course!!! 👍👍 (Havn't been in here a while)

Thank you for the info Ren831!

Damn, had I known I could copy my progress I would have made last weeks event :(
Still, I now have all the cars :)

Been here a couple of weeks but haven't formally introduced myself.
GTP_iCyCo, the WRS so far has been fun for me and I'm really improving. I'm usually 5 to 6 seconds off the world record (US) time but with trying to beat others in my class in the WRS I was able to get within 3 seconds so far.

I'm currently in Division 4 Bronze aiming to move up the ranks

And regarding the sometimes offline events I was a bit bummed due to the fact I couldn't see how I compared to the rest of the world cause joining the WRS was for me to get better. Guess I can just run the event after the WRS submission time as I'm getting fairly consistent in producing close times now.

Yes you certainly can run this after the deadline.

It might help a lot to review some WRS replays before attempting it online.
I'm not saying you have to review replays, but it helps to see how others completed their lap.

You can also take your time and look to see how you stack up against the world leaderboard.
Unless it's outside the top 100.

.

Watching replays to me now looks like magic... I'm always thinking how'd they get around that corner so fast but when I try it I spin out etc. Their warm up lap most times is key too..while studying the Audi R8 event the ghost I downloaded always was ahead of me by the time the timer starts.

It's usually outside the top 100... but the aim is to get it in the top 100. The pursuit of perfection
