Hey guys, I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to get into the action myself. I'm looking forward to participating in some upcoming WRS races with you (although I'm not very good). Just need to wait for my PM system to be enabled so I can submit my Qualifier :)

Hey everyone,

I posted in the general welcome forum but I wanted to post in here too because I am super excited to participate in the WRS.

I have been following (lurking) the forums for a little while now. I finally decided to register after reading Synwraith's "Sixaxis to G25" thread. Excellent stuff!

A little bit about me... I am 23. I am a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin, studying mechanical engineering. I have been playing Gran Turismo since the beginning of the series. I played a lot of 1 and 2, a little of 3, no 4. Then I got hooked again on GTHD. A friend and I went back and forth beating each other's time with the tuned Celica on Eiger forward for an entire semester. I ended up 85th overall for North America.

I really enjoy time trials; I haven't spent much time online with prologue. Every time I was on, it was a demolition derby. That's one of the things that brought me to this site. I am super excited to race with people that adhere to a code. I am most excited to get involved in the WRS. Right now I am transitioning to a wheel (DFGT) from the DS3. I am going to give it a few weeks then submit my qualifier.

And like everyone else, anxiously waiting for GT5

Nice post tbones. Welcome to the WRS :)

Right now I am transitioning to a wheel (DFGT) from the DS3. I am going to give it a few weeks then submit my qualifier.

Good stuff. 👍 It was (and still is) an amazing feeling for me when I switched to a wheel from a sixaxis 2 months a go.

Aderrrm,

So true! Racing against my DS3 ghost last night it was amazing to see how much side to side movement I had exiting a corner. The wheel is infinitely smoother.

Welcome aboard tbones. Now that you are using a wheel, you find find that your lap times will drop dramatically 👍

I would like to say to anyone that reads this that I am truly excited to join this forum and get accepted to the registry.
Just a little about myself I have been racing since 1974 starting with racing motorcycles. I raced in everything thing that I could that was motorcycle anything from scrambles, motocross, short track, hair scrambles, enduro, road racing, and drag racing. I was on to a factory ride until that last big bit out. I have raced against some of the fastest motocross racers in the world like Danny ‘MAGOO’ Chandler, Darrel Schultz, Donnie Cantilupie, Danny Turnner. These are just a few of the class acts that I am proud to call friends.
Then I started building race cars and racing SCCA in No. Cal. With my 86 IROC camaro only to find out that my desires weren’t enough I needed wheel barrels of money and that kind of racing is cheep. So I concentrated on building race cars and spending someone else’s money. After we literaly changed the face of the pro stock class at Placerville by coming out of nowhere and dominating that class as I was the setup man for making adjustments and staying ahead of the changing track conditions to always be one step of the compo my driver’s wife said that he couldn’t do it anymore. So I started my racing adventure at Roseville in the mini stock class and was always in the top 10 finishing the getting Rookie of the year. Over the next 5 yrs I was able to keep the finances together racing every other season and kept finishing 7th in final standings.
They finally abolished the class because the track went to NASCAR as the sanctioning bodie and NASCAR doesn’t recognize mini-stocks ( anyone want to buy a race car, LOL).
Now I am a dad w/ a 12yo son who is an enthusiast, and my nights are filled with sim racing by myself and longing to get back behind the wheel again. With no pacification from GT5 and only dreaming of what will be I finished 830 in the GT5 time trial, I have a lot to still learn about road racing, this is a good place to leave it and think of my next thread thankzzzzzzzzzzzz………………….
Lefty…………

Welcome tbones, Justin and lefty. The WRS is the best place to improve your skills and have fun!

Hi, just sent my qualifier times, I'm excited to join WRS. :D

You guys don't joke me because I'm very slow, ok?

I'll be happy no matter what position I get on the leaderboard, having fun is just what matters when racing online. ;)

WELCOME!!!!

Take a look at the current leaderboard and I'll bet everyone on there would agree with those words. 👍

Hi,
I've just been added by Jack (thanks...) to Div3 silver.
My name is Yossi Gabay and I'm from Israel (I think I'm the only one...)

Hi and welcome. You're surely not the only one, Metar has been a member for a long time tho he's quite inactive at the moment, at least in WRS he is :(

Hey everyone,

My name is Christopher from San Diego, Ca. I just entered WRS and was put into Division 3 Silver. I used to host the GTP Worldwide Time Attack Challenges for 3 seasons until I sold my PSPgo. And put the money towards getting a G27 and a copy of GT5P. I can already see that their is quite the amount of healthy competition, more then how many racers we had in the PSP section of GTP. Looking forward to learning a ton from you guys.

A big welcome to all recent victims, only joking, I hope you enjoy WRS. Congratulations on your division placements.
Phillip. 👍

Welcome to the WRS guys 👍 WRS will not be held responsible for any damaged caused to Controllers/Wheels, PS3 machines, TV's or any other equipment which may be bashed, thrown or kicked during the participation of any WRS event, :D 👍 Have fun.

Thought i'd introduce myself properly:

Hi, my name's Barry but I prefer Baz. I've been taking part in the WRS for a few weeks now and i'm really enjoying it. I was provisionally put in division 3 bronze, then actually put in division 4 gold which i'm quite happy with. That, to me, shows that the mods here take the time and effort of putting people in the right place 👍

I use a G27 which I bought with a playseat Evolution in February. It took a bit of getting used to after 15 years of pad useage.

I have a couple of weaknesses (foibles?) as regards the WRS:
1) I've always used the blue racing line and still do out of habit, although i'm gonna try not to and see how that goes.
2) However much I try, I cannot use the G27 gearbox effectively enough to beat my Auto times (I'll have to wait for GT5 for the flappy goodness).

So, excuses aside, i'm glad I found this very informative site and a big thanks to every member of the WRS for making the WRS what it is.

Cheers!
